  1. You going for F# then?
  2. They would have used VAG-COM, which is the VW diagnostics software, but quite often dead sensors don't show up. The sensor will still be working, but it'll be giving screwy numbers, so the ECU thinks that's what's actually going on. Might as well replace the sensor tho. You need to be quick and/or do a full coolant change when you change it cos the coolant will gush out as soon as you unplug it ;) Oil or coolant? Either sound a bit high to me, I would guess this is oil temp as if you're getting coolant temps that high you'll be blowing hoses. The oil shouldn't go much above 120 IIRC (don't hold me to that), but if you're sitting in traffic a lot then it does get pretty high. If you're going to be changing coolant sensors, it's also worth listening to see if your fans come on or not when the coolant gets up to 100+ (again not sure of the exact temp that they should kick in). The sensors that contol the fans are the other 2 either side of the blue ECU one. Start with the cheapest things then go for the more expensive stuff as a last resort :) Good luck!!
  3. Ahh, could well be... It's going in to get a new gearbox mount on Monday so I'll get them to look at it then... but it's gonna need a wheel alignment again after, so I'll also give the bodyshop a call and see if they'll re-align it for free/cheap. Aye, vids will be going up just as soon as I get them :D I've got a butt load of hosting space at work, so I'll post links when they're up. Just hope the C holds out til the weekend! I had to stop at one point on Tues and over-inflate the tyres to stop the sidewalls wearing ;)
  4. Yup, PlusGas should make your life a lot easier getting the other ones out. An eazi-out affair may help you with your missing nipple. If that doesn't work it'll probably just as much to get a new set of calipers off ebay than send them off to be drilled out. If you know somoene locally that can do it, then it shouldn't cost you more than a few quid to get them drilled out.
  5. Hmm that might be worth a crack, the Autoglym stuff was supposed to be really good, but I'm not wildly impressed. I may give it another go first though.
  6. no! I work for a production company that make DVDs on various different things. At the moment it's mostly stuff on planes, trains and cars so it's rather good fun. It helps that my boss is a car and plane nut too :D
  7. Mate you need the right equipement to sort this out, I doubt you've broken anything as its all new, I'd take it back to the bodyshop who just repaired it and get them to sort it, when they re-alligned the car they probably didn't tighten something up enough, I'd get it back to then asap! Aye, I think so too. I'm not gonna get a change to take it anywhere til Monday now. But I'll get the guys to look at it when they fit my gearbox mount.
  8. Why do you think they are known as STEALERS?????? :D What's the bet if they do have a look at it the panel will be damaged???? heh ill let you know, going to see my local vw tmro at 8:30 for an inspection. Don't let them near it with a spanner!!!!
  9. It's a very tempting idea as the Autoglym interior shampoo didn't shift all the gunk on my Recaros :( Sounds like a bit of a mission to say the least tho...
  10. Are you implying that I can't negotiate a certain roundabout by the Audi dealership?!? I had a good look under the car this morning and the rear seems to be fine. However, looking at the front wheels, it seems that with the steering wheel pointing straight ahead the passenger side wheel is tilted in slightly at the top (camber, but no idea which way is +ve and -ve) and the drivers side one is straight up. So my question is, how do I fix it? I've had a haul on the track rods and they seem to be pretty firmly in place, so is it likely to be my wishbones/bushes etc? Or something else?
  11. Be careful of gravel rash. I was gonna say let the body out of the boot, but that works too ;)
  12. Which one tho... :? Either way, both are still available from VW, the VR6 badge is about £6 and no idea on the VW one.
  13. It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, and that depends entirely on the condition. Post up some pics and we can give you a 'ooh arr hmmm' guess at the price. Unless it's a complete dog, I would say you got yourself a sodding bargain though! On the spec you've given I would have thought more like £7-£7.5k would be more like the right price, especially as Corrado prices seem to be on the up at the moment. As I said, it does depend on condition, but if it's only done 47k miles, it can't be *that* bad... ;) As far as drive or hide it goes, drive the thing!! If you're gonna hide it away and never drive it you should have bought garden gnomes or some interesting ornaments instead....
  14. Note to self: Don't work on hot car
  15. They replaced it?!!? And it was an airfield, you had to get something very, very, very wrong to hit anything. I did have a fair number of very large spins complete with plumes of smoke, but only before he showed us what to do ;)
  16. Well I'm having starting problems too, although they may not be the same as yours. Mine will never start well when it's been left for a long time, which according to Vince at Stealth (the daddy of the VR) is most likely to be my fuel pump. If you can hear a whining coming from the rear of the car on the drivers side, that's your fuel pump straining and probably won't be helping your problem. The cheap option is to replace the fuel filter which is about £8 from GSF. If that doesn't help, the pump itself is about £100. However, as yours doesn't start from hot, it could well be entirely un-related. Changing the fuel filter is a good idea anyway though (see here). The other favourites are as vr6storm says the blue coolant sensor for the ECU (£10 from VW and easy as pie to fit) and/or dirty injectors. The dirty injectors is unlikely as it would make it run pretty badly all the time. I did suggest this to Vince and he said that in his 10yrs of working on VR's he'd never known of any with injector problems... Also, if you've been having electrical gremlins with your immobiliser, it could well be that that's giving you grief. It sounds like you've had that fairly well checked out though. Lastly, I know someone else has been having starting woes with their VR recently and it was down to a gammy starter relay, so that could be another (fairly cheap) option to check out. So err yeah, good luck ;)
  17. No sunroof!  those things are rare!! Gotta be a good thing though, they only rattle and break. Don't have any idea how much to get the roof lining sorted though. I would imagine that if you can get them, they won't be cheap because they're so rare.
  18. As a strenuous (for my C) part of my job, I had to do a driver training course at North Weald air field today. I learnt how to brake and steer at silly speeds and keep it all in control, how to make it go lairily sideways (in control!) and lots of other fun stuff with stupidly small braking distances and the like. I didn't manage to set the brakes on fire, but they did start smoking quite a lot at one stage (I decided I'd stop for a bit then!) Oh and on Friday I get to go back and do it all again to film it. We're also going to have a few Elises, a Scooby/Evo type, a mental bike engine based V8 Caterham (350bhp anyone?) and a Ferrari of some sort there too. I think it's unlikely that I'll be driving anything other than my C (if that), but I'll post up some nice pictures at the weekend 8) The only downer is I seem to have chucked something out of alignment.. my steering wheel now doesn't point straight ahead :(
  19. Yeah, but have you seen the state of your C? The people that spend a lot tend to be perfectionists (myself included) so if something isn't perfect then it's getting fixed/replaced. As far as £3k goes, you may be able to get a high mile G60 for that, but if insurance is an issue you might have to count that out. The prices of Corrados seem to be rising quite a bit at the moment though. As far as the 16v vs 8v goes, I've not driven either, so I can't really comment. Some people seem to think the 16v is better, some think the 8v. The 8v's are certainly pretty rare though.
  20. No worries mate, I've been on a near daily pestering routine with DDI, so I'm sure zarman is getting annoyed with me by now  The latest news is that DDI now have all but 5 of the sills made and are still hunting down the remaining ally needed. I will let you know when I find out any more, and again, I'm sorry it's taking so long to get this done, as I said before I'm currently sill-less :(
  21. errr....??? *sigh* that's what happens when you have 5 posts open at the same time cos your internet connection is being crap. Sorry
  22. Aqua Blue Perl seems to be common as muck...still a nice colour tho :) Surely Tornado Pink? ;)
  23. yeah I was joking... sometimes it's just not worth it :(
