Agreed, but it's not a bad colour

Heavy parcel just arrived at work, though it looked odd

Excellent stuff :D It's always nice when new toys arrive unexpectedly :) -
You'll not get any more than 5.5 litres in there unless you suck the thing dry (ooh err). Testicles! :norty:
-
It is, but it's a bit of a pain getting the wiring done - I think the Corrado Club of Canada site has a how-to on it tho...
-
...or a stack of CDs and the box for the front of the head unit if not

Yeah, I'm convinced the aux pump in my last C never worked and that was fine (until I bent it). I was driving this C with a gammy aux pump for weeks before I got round to fixing it. It's not a critical part in a "if it dies the engine will implode" sence as with the main water pump, but it is a good idea to make sure it works :)

I really must get ETKA or ETOS installed again. And the Mk2 ones aren't hugely different (if at all?) in appearance to the early Corrado ones. The late-style dash looks different, but I guess you can still bodge the switch to fit.

Felt-backed tape will stop squeaks and creaks. Dump the missus to stop moans and groans  Edit: Would be a good opportunity to get some Dynamat or similar sound deadening in there too...
-
Aye, not a bad idea! :)

Not with the extra litre ;)

Back in the days before synchromesh you had to double de-clutch to get a decent gear change without the thing crunching and grinding (go watch Bullit again and listen to the gear changes), so a lot of people couldn't be faffed and just matched the revs and did hot-shifts instead. You can't do 'em very quickly though...
-
Yes, but I think you can actually get the bonnet to close over a VR...it's just a little cosy. As Crasher says though - I'd either go for a straight-swap engine (either another G60 or get yours rebuilt), or get silly and put something modern in there.
-
Oooh very tarty... might get me one
-
ouch, thats good going. I had a little stint like that in November, new tyres, MOT, tax, Dealer service in 3 weeks = £700. I've just spent considerably more than that in insurance alone :(
-
Obviously the VR is a far superior engine *ahem*, but it's a lot of work to get the VR into a 4-pot Corrado. You need a new gearbox, driveshafts, hubs, front subframe and probably quite a few other bits too. A 1.8T conversion on the other hand...
-
Heh heh, reminds me of when I was in Canada - we were 2-up in a VR C and a dude in a Mk2 pulled along side, waved and just left us for dead
-
Keep your hand off it?
-
I'm just trying to do my best to ignore all the innuendo
-
Well I think that's the thing - you don't think you're moving it much, but if you relax your hand you do a bit. I don't really know how bad it is though - I know it's nothing major if you just do it every now and then, but doing it all the time does eventually wear the gear box.
-
Aye, but you had the more technical answer - I knew it wore something out, wasn't sure what tho!
-
Aye, it's easy enough to do... if you drive along at a steady speed when you're not accelerating or braking and you can just pull the lever out of gear. If you know what you're doing, you can do a hot-shift where you exactly match the revs of the engine to the gear you're going to change to and then you can put it back in gear again without needing the clutch. P.S. It's not a good idea to drive around with your hand resting on the gearstick all the time, not only cos you could accidentally push it out of gear, but also because you'll gradually wear down the bearings in the box due to the pressure of your hand.

Yeah, I only heard this one for the first time the other day, but it's C U Next Tuesday

I had the same problem on mine, but it turned out that at some stage, a loving previous-owner had hacked out the old pump and plug, plumbed in a Golf/other VR part and spliced in the plug for it. So I hacked that back off and put spade connectors on instead. It's a nasty bodge, but it works...for now.
