  1. I think some of them do but probably pass it on to third parties for resale. I know I would be putting stuff in the bin, and then taking it out again
  2. CAPS LOCK = BAD  Hello and welcome to forum.
  3. I am pretty sure that there are a fair few people that do hang around skips for this sort of stuff. It is bloody annoying though.
  4. Rev counter is staying standard valver as it goes it 8k and thats is all I need ATM. Right then, got off my arse and did some jobs. Fitted the thermostat, not a massive job but it's done now. Retimmed the engine, fitted the timing belt covers and the rest of the pulleys except for the PAS bits. Resolved the knock sensor problem, it is going next to the knock sensor in the pic on one of the raised bits of the engine. Should be in approximately the same place as the one on the G60, the flat section is the same size, just need to flat the paint back. Not sure what to do about the cylinder head cooling flange, I think I have found someone who does a straight job, like the G60 but to mate up to the 16v head. Failing that I will use an ABF one that I have. Pics are off all those bits and pieces.
  5. Yes and its too bloody big. Need to think about another way of doing it, maybe machine it down to fit inside an existing core plug or to replace a core plug, not sure which yet. Or I could just see if I can fit it to another point on the block. Had a slack arse week, done mostly nothing.
  6. I believe some suspension companies actually supply remote adjustment kits.
  7. Along with some other components including, indicators and the 'single use' fog light switch.
  8. What you mean - £200 for a coilpack, £500 for a slam panel, £8.50 for one spark plug, £22 for one HT lead, £500 for a throttle body? Yeah, very reasonable  Bargin I'll take two
  9. Exceot BB who is in Bristol, not really deep south. ;)
  10. Still loving the nuggets and holding aspirations of getting a G in nugget yellow with black leather - one day ;)
  11. I would guess a trawl through here would kick up around a 1000 or so that have been broken or written off. (f we still had the for sale threads that is)
  12. Lube is the way forward!!
  13. The search is your friend. Failing that it's in here: Suspension
  14. No I believe the origins of this thread are based on a guy with a mk II Golf, it has a VR6 transplant engine in it and he fitted a schrick that he is not happy with. Mind you if it is pinking then I am not suprised he thinks it is a waste of time fitting it, they don't normally pink just by fitting a schrick.
  15. Those people that are planning an R32 engine conversion the change in tax band is not applicable. It is all tied into when you need to get a car re-registered depending on the work done to it. The older classic car owners have issues with this and the DVLA 'point scores' the owners ability to retain the original registration mark depending on what has been changed/replaced and how much is left of the original vehicle. Highest points usually apply to chassis changes etc and engine changes are not that far up the points scale. So to summarise, crack on with the R32 conversion it won't mean any higher tax!!
  16. noticed the local Shell went up 2p/ltr anyway this weekend. :( Most garages either sneak it up at budget time or make a song and dance about having pre-budget prices. Again far too many dummies out there who will blaim the government for the rise even though it is not due until October, the fuel companies know this and respond accordingly.
  17. Shame as the CC reading for my 'roccos last MOT was 1/6th of the max - be nice to have to pay 1/6th of the tax bill for it! That's without a CAT and on mechanical fuel injection too. Anyway my argument would be that all ours cars are greener than new ones as we are only using small quantities of resources to keep them on the road, except Kev ;), as opposed to all new resources for a new car.
  18. Get the cosmetic bits done, then fit a charger..
  19. Yandards

    205 or 215?

Must be MOT'ed by a blind man/woman then as that's illegal.
  20. That's just plain wierd. I would complain to the water board anyway, they moved your car and the contact number/s was no use.
  21. Bit OT but has anyone every seen a Khaki pearl effect car?
  22. Looks really good Jimmi, nice job. To be really picky the gear knob is not the correct type. It should be a round knob in the early cars.
  23. Ahem, Dinkus. I think you will find that most MP's claim fuel and travel allowance, hence the reason that the average yearly expensive for the scummers is around £75,000 / year. That figure does not even include staff costs, just purely expenses - none of which can be used for political lobbying, i.e. mail shots etc, so WTF are they spending it all on? Viva la revolution!
  24. Public transport is in most areas, rubbish. I used to live a mere 40 minutes car journey from my work, it would take nearly 2 hours on a bus and I would have to change buses too!! The other issue here is equality. If a vastly improved public transport system is made available it will only really work for those people who work during normal office hours. Ergo, shift workers will still need a car to get to work, higher taxes will obviously kick into effect to pay for the 'improved' service but shift workers are penalized. Just another thing to toss into this particular hat ;)
