  1. Spent most of the day stripping, cleaning and rebuilding the throttle body. All done now, assembled and set on the end of the inlet manifold, it's a tight fit to clear the fuel rail but it is on and looks pretty good. I had ported and knife edged the TB ages ago, wanted to get all the cack out of it before it fills up with recirculated gunk from the boost return.
  2. Had my valver since Jan 04, got my VR last year no plans to sell either - despite the VR soiling its passenger carpet this weekend (Scuttle cover seal thingy gone) Third owner of the valver, dealer demo for a year then same guy until I bought it. 6th keeper of the VR and it needs some serious love..
  3. Humn, not the sharpest tools in the box in the Skoda, VR did a good job, aerodynamics kicking in probably helped.
  4. I do recall driving past another entrance when we went Jim, just can't remember where. It is defo the ring, you can see the sign in the background when he stops.
  5. What happened to Jay's?? parking sensors was it not  Plus angel eyes, oh and not forgetting the bloody huge rivets in the grille. And an aversion to washing it at ED38 last year..
  6. Most of the muppets that work in the stealers are just that, muppets. It is painful to sit there and watch them crawl through ETKA, let alone rise above the ancient and seriously out of date concept that all women know nothing about cars.
  7. The 17s should be ok if they have the correct profile of tyre on. Feed some numbers into this to see what difference it makes to your speedo. Tyre size calculator It is a bit long winded by tyre size calaculator is about half way down the page. If you need OEM tyre and wheel sizes check the forum knowledge base here: Wiki Tyre Sizes
  8. If you are in Swindon then head over to Imperial tyres and get a four wheel alignment done, they are good and are half the price of VAG. As James said, if you get the wheel in question balanced it should also be obvious if it is bent/buckled whilst the balancing is being done.
  9. Still one of my all time favourite Corrados. Let's hope this one fairs better than Jay's old motor. I am sure it will ;)
  10. Just watched this clip on eastside. Bloody brilliant, not the main ring entrance though. His mate sounds like a right mincer.
  11. Might not get a response very quickly, he is not on here very often these days.
  12. Looking pretty good. What I would recommend is that as the existing fabric will have stretched over time you need to make a new parts a bit smaller for a crease free fit. Worked for an upholsterers for a year or so, the new seat covers where always a really tight fit - almost to point of ripping the stichting when you fit them.
  13. Blimey Eric bit of a rant there. I would not blame the name Corrado as the sole reason the car didn't sell very well. It is still one of the most expensive cars (not 4x4's) that VW have ever produced and was for sale during one of the largest global economic slumps since WW2. As an owner of both the 'rocco and the 'rado both do things differently but still achieve the same result - a big grin on my face.
  14. Heh, I would avoid VW shows then if I were you. Both shunted both front and rear end, as well as having a chair chucked at my car...
  15. Balls. Managed to get the timing belt to jump a couple of teeth whilst using it as locking device so I could check the crank pulley bolt for the correct torque. Got in a pi$$ with it and left it for a few hours. Still not retimed it but I have completed the alt tensioning set-up finally, quite pleased with it. Need to get an ABF cylinder head cooling outlet as the KR/9A one is angled in the wrong direction - the G60 rad top hose is fouling the charger with the KR one. Got the oil supply to the charger system fitted now, bust oil temp sensor came out of the oil filter housing nice and easy, new sensor fitted to the back of the cylinder head where it should be. List of stuff to do is getting shorter and I am hoping that I won't hit many more problems now.
  16. Fecking expensive game that, not sure it's an Aston thing, maybe le-mans instead? But who really knows?
  17. Heh, nice one. Bit odd to find Yanks with that sort of sense of humour though - a pleasant suprise.
  18. Humn fun... :? ..I started researching this project nearly 3 years ago, the engine has been through more design and implementation variations than I can remember now, all in the pursuit of something that will, in my opinion, do the job a little better. I have the intention of writing a guide to building a UK RHD spec 16vG60 when this done, especially with all the things I have learned along the way that have been the driving force behind many of the changes I have made. Get the cam cover on tomorrow and then fit the pulleys! Then it's on with getting the rest of the ancils fitted. With a bit of luck it might be near finished by the end of tomorrow.
  19. If you do end up rebuilding the bottom end use mk.III tdi bearing shells as a uprated option.
  20. *Grumbling noises coming from Coventry somewhere* Shall or shan't I tax my C this month? Nah, still need to do a 4-wheel alignment first, could do that on Saturday, I suppose. Tempest DO IT!!
  21. Get meguiars ones Jim, I think they came top in the Auto Express group test a while ago. Can't see either of you two letting the side down, both great cars.
  22. Busy day Andy, not seen your nugget since we both had done some work done at John's years ago. Think you were having the carbon can removed IIRC.
