  1. Love my VR but the valver is very different. You just have to drive each of them if you can and go from there.
  2. I do think of myself as a bit of a dubber but like Dr VoIP more of a Karmann type. I always liked the mk II Golf and nearly had one as my first car but ended up with a cheaper Suzuki Swift instead. I did finally get a C 3 years ago and love it, no plans to get rid as I don't think there is anything else around to replace it with. Went out and got a few more Dubs since then and because I have owned other marques I can appreciate how well they are built. Sorry got disagree on the sh1t engineering comments. You have to bear in mind that the Corrado was being crash tested in 1984, so it was being designed earlier than that. I think for a car that was built then the attention to access and ease of engineering is excellent, especially when compared to a more modern car. One of the few things I think needed addressing is the size and location of the intercooler. Door handles, ignition switches and sunroof mechs are components that will fail with use/time. As for poor quality components and dodgy electrics again you really need to look at how much the Corrado has as standard, it is far more complicated electronically than a mk II Golf and as such it is very reliable considering that. My other point would be that it is a 14 year old car you own, you should not expect not to be changing things like engine mounts, wiring looms etc as these will have fatigued with age and become unreliable. I would also point out that 1.8T has not been without its problems, especially the earlier engines, considering the G60 was only made for 4 years by comparison with no extra development it does very well. I suppose I have had the luxury of owning a mint valver with low mileage and having changed all the suspension parts for fresh VAG ones it drives like it left the factory. Riley I do realise that you have had some bad luck as well with your car but a lot of it is fair wear and tear, the problems with the C (door handles, rear calipers etc) are endemic accross the VW range of the time.
  3. Yes the Corrado did come with a CD player headunit as an upgrade option as a genuine accessory. Sony CDX 5060, CDX5460, Panasonic CQ-DP37 are listed in 1994.
  4. Blimey! Can just see next months Sniff Petrol ripping the p155 out of this.. ..can't wait.
  5. Stay with standard 15s if you want the best performance. Get some lighter 15s if you can, that will make the car feel and handle better.
  6. Bit of a bargin there, could do with a couple of sets of these, mostly for aluminum lightness mmnn.
  7. I would try to see what the results are on a more standard set of rims and tyres, max width of 205mm on a 15 for a standard C.
  8. Gutted, you are showing a good attitude towards it though, despite the fact that everyone on here would not want to be in your shoes. Get a 'rocco mk II 1.8 8v as a daily hack. No-one wants to steal them, they are quick and fairly fuel efficient too, used to get about 400 miles out of the tank on mine.
  9. What a real genuine bullet or an airgun pellet? A reall bullet is a bit worrying, where do you live Beruit?
  10. Humn, Ford cheapo steel strikes again! Don't see many good ones these days, no idea whats involved with fixing it though.
  11. Or look in the knowledge base, whre you will find the complete set of all gear ratios for all the gearboxes fitted to the Corrado, including at the bottom a useful gear ratio - road speed / rev calculator. 02A Gearbox Info
  12. ...and if you look on page 3 of this very thread, I've confirmed that the above are what halfords sell as the brilliance bulbs! So basically then the 80% ones are noticeably better than the Halfords super brilliance bulbs..
  13. Humn, hope not. Were you old ones uprated? Don't know - they came with the car and are atleast 3 years old. They are marked as GE MegaLight Plus if that is any help, although even with the headlight loom they weren't that bright. These new ones are a definate improvement. Well a quick net search reveals they (GE MegaLight Plus) are suppossed to be up to 50% brighter bulbs. So if you have a noticeable improvement then thats not too bad at all.
  14. Carefull now, I'll set Alison on ya! She may be tiny but she's like a terrier in a scuffle!  Meh ;) They do some good stuff in there these days, pro tools especially but at the same time they do some right chavvy tat.
  15. Halfrauds do some 30% brighter jobbie in H3, seem to be ok. Main beam has a big difference with the H4's upgraded TBH.
  16. Try carrying out the boost check on the wiki to check for leaks Boost Check
  17. Should be, late valvers and VR's shared the same spring/damper package. Koni supply a range of dampers for the Corrado but they do specify the same set of dampers as an option for both VRs and 16v/G60s. I would stick them on and see what its like, the problem comes in trying to get a good match for spring/damping combo without one being dominante and destroying the ride or handling.
  18. Urgh. A corrado with Eibach springs was properly the worst riding C I have been in. 2cc has Koni TAs and PI springs on his car and I think it is one of the best riding C's I have ever been in. Mind you Koni TAs and H&R springs are a great combo on a VR too.
  19. The set procedure is to remove the headlight unit to change the bulbs. I did manage a complete set change without taking them out once but never again.
  20. Top tip to ensure your ignition switch lives a long life. Only stick the ignition key in the switch! Don't have a ton of crap hanging off the keyring as it will cause lots of vibration and shorten the life of the switch.
  21. Buggers! Hope it will be worth the wait when they finally arrive.
  22. Exactly, you can't say for sure you dropped them outside or if the feckers stole the keys.
