  1. Not striclty true. Some BBS rims were offered as an upgrade item on early cars, BBS RM's were available as were BBS RJ's. Even later cars had the Brands Hatch wheels as an option with BBS RA 442 listed as a genuine aftermarket part.
  2. Assuming the electrics let you drive it off the forecourt ;)
  3. Humn Ferrari must be compensating for something, now what is it.. PMSL
  4. Nope its an early/late thing. Post facelift all cars came with the larger 70 litre or 15 gallon tanks. As for the mileage no reason it is not genuine, my 89 G plate valver has only done 86k and I know its genuine. Nice motor, still has the OE mudflaps on, even if the Corrado badges have come off. Shame the interior is grey it shows the marks even in those pics. Looks pretty well looked after but the pics of the boot and interior give it away that isnt always that clean, too much crap on the sills etc. Fuse box cover appears to be missing too :? Looks like a solid car for the money though.
  5. Bloody LDV drivers.. Which unit from and to? am moving from RAF Cottesmore to RAF Scampton Can't offer you a go in my VR then as Lossie is a bit of a trek..

  7. Not suprised the steering feels much better, the combination of massive width and a stretch does nothing at all for handling. Just bear in mind that the worn rears might make the car a tad rear end happy for a while.
  8. Interesting plan, small one on the front and a big one on the back, bet it would be really crap until the first turbo spooled up though!
  9. Sod that, if they are making a 2l TSI then that would be the one to use! Good platform for some serious power, just need someone to produce uprated roots chargers to completment a bigger turbo.
  10. Always liked the Conti Sport Contacts myself, shame you can't get the 3's for a 15" rim.
  11. It's days like that you just wished you stayed in bed.
  12. Do you mean part number 191 857 971? If so not sure why they are ultra rare, and pretty cheap at 40p each too.
  13. But does anyone do them with a standard .5" dish?
  14. Heh, supra jumps the lights too. Shame its a mk III.
  15. Probably a dodgy bulb holder connection. Take off the temp control dial and bend the little metal legs that come out from the centre up a bit to improve the contact. Failing that try a new bulb, Halfords do them for £1.79 it is listed as the interior panel bulb in their which bulb for which car guide. To be honest I am finding the whole late heater control panel a complete PITA, the lighting level is rubbish and it is really not as durable as the sliding type. Probably just use trigs how to in the kb and fit green light stringy stuff :)
  16. Well there was that time in Germany, your Dinkel roasties were very salty indeed ;)
  17. To be honest claying depends on how the car has been looked after. I clayed my valver and got nothing (Yes nothing) off the paint at all, complete waste of time, but it did do a lovely job on getting crap out of the rubbers. I would only use a polish once or twice a year, you should be looking to use a good quality wax product as a top coat and that can be applied as often as you want. A good wax will reduce the swirl on the paint and as is it not apprasive does not cut the paint either. I think Meguiars stage 3 carnuba wax is great stuff, trick is to leave it on for as long as possible before removing (24 hours+) This lets the wax harden on the car providing a linger lasting more resiliant finish. If money is no object have a look at swissol or Zymol products for a really good wax, the difference is noticeable IMHO.
  18. True for the limited, but it is rumoured that there are 240KW (320bhp)versions of those engines fitted to a few cars. That and some of the design decisions on the limited engine that VW produced are not the best for FI to say the least, starting with the inlet manifold. It was a parts bin raiding exercise with a very few custom made brackets, AFAIK no work was done to the cylinder heads. That engine set-up is capable of providing 300whp in 2 litre form at least, there are a good few people on the other side of the pond producing those big figures. I agree the cam profile will have to be a bit wild to get those kind of figures and the torque will not be likely to come in until above 5k in the rev range; but it won't be any worse than some of the more agressively modded engines out there. Even in standard form that head is suppossed to give you an extra 50% over standard power at 212bhp.
  19. Ahem, may I refer you to this site here: CNC Heads For those that can't be arsed to look: 'Our head shows and very healthy inlet increase of 21.5 % peak flow rate at max valve lift is seen here along with a substantially improved flow rate across the valve lift range. Exhaust improvement is slightly less dramatic but none the less a substantial 14.4% improvement at the max valve opening. This head has the potential to give an flow which will provide up to 252 BHP and 8500rpm or 219 BHP at 7000 rpm with fueling, exhaust and camshaft modifications.' So you can get 250bhp out of a valver from the head at least!! (Only 1100 RPM increase from stock too.)
  20. They are a very limited foreign edition. Should come with colour coded seats and door cards, like these here: Jet or here: Jet Again
  21. LOL - that's very true! Nope that's BS (just checked to make sure), mk II 8v Golfs have clocks that indicate 140mph max though. Does sound like there has been some serious engine work gone into the car. My last RR for a standard KR, except for an ported exhaust mani and uprated downpipe back, was 122mph in fourth at just under 7k rpm. That's on OE 15" rims and 185/55s (Also standard) too. Was the previous owner the one 5 up in the Paxo, if it was he wasn't driving IIRC? (Sorry, there were 20 people killed up here that weekend)
  22. Yup sure I can spare one, job is easy enough I can run you through it. Got those in-pros off now, not sure if I am going to make this Sundays meet though. If I nip out the box, whip it up to you and collect those in-pros would you run through it as in run through and do it!? Whats your favourite tipple? Yeah sure no problem, er VAG parts? ;)
  23. Damn my fav wheel maker goes under :(

  25. I think James May summed it up perfectly, the Veyron is a 'concorde moment' A fantastic piece of engineering that manages to both mindnumbingly fast but at the same time a luxury car too. I would expect a no compromises stripped out racing version, not that they would ever make one, to be even quicker. Problem is, I think, that is very easy to have a go at the Veyron. But most journos ignore the attention to detail that has been invested into the car - 250mph and it seemed more than happy and not about to shake itself to pieces.
