Again VW specify around half a litre per corner in the following sequence rear right, rear left, front right, front left. I will bet that a good few garages dont put 2 litres of brake fluid through your system when bleeding it!!
-
You mean the one with constant power and variable noise?
-
Er, whilst this was news to me I did note in the VW blue bibles that on 16v cars the rotor arm is suppossed to be stuck onto the dizzy. You need to use AMV 185 100 01, although this appears to have been suspersedded by AMV 185 101 A1. Glad you folks had a good time, shame about the wishbone bolts they do seize in nicely and although there is a repair procedure if something goes wrong I doubt you had the time. Just out of interest Jim when was the last time your brake fluid was changed according to the service history?

Best show comment for me was the 'waste of organs' one But Mr White Teeth's prophetic comment was also great if it wasn't for the tension.

Christ that was messy. He was very calm in his description. What did the guy in the audience shout out?

OK so I know it's not my C but I was carrying passengers so the C is a little impractical. Some really nice roads on the drive up to where this picture was taken and quiet too.
-
Insane! Not sure what worries me more a Brummie with 2200 bhp under his right foot or the Turkish ned in a tin can cutting people up with a passenger ;)
-
Was digging through my old C pics and found this, Nick's car looks very moody, shame the background is not better.

possibly the worst timing belt tensionner in the world

Not like it's a critcal component at all!! At least you spotted it, could be a lot worse for someone with less experience. -
PM'ed too (Sorry must have missed that thread)

I am not saying that 20v engines are not capable of making big power. Just that purely from a cylinder design point of view a 5v per cylinder setup is not going to be as good as 4v per cylinder setup; due to valve shrouding and the compromises on the location of the spark plug. As for if you go big valve or not that depends on how you want your power delivery - bigger valves will mean a lower revving engine. 16v heads do flow well out of the box but after they have been breathed on by CNC Heads then 252bhp from a N/A engine at 8.5 RPM with inlet, exhaust, cam and fuel mods is not to be sniffed at.
-
FFS, hope they turn up again John. Why people insist on doing these things is beyond me.
-
And 5 valves per cylinder is a waste of time too. Too much valve shrouding to be useful, optimal setup is 4 valves per cylinder with a plug in the middle.

Top mounts should be ok, but like the cheesermiester said you will need new dampers.

'Sh1t! He got by me!' 'Suprise C0ckbags!' 'Matt Damon' (Sorry)

But Jay's old car wasn't blackberry it was a Porsche colour. Yeah thats right but its very close to blackberry so still gives a good idea on how mine would look with certain upgrades etc. Have a look here for loads of pics of Jay's old car: Coupehaus

Yeah, nice piece of kit. 4 of us wedged into my C in Germany last year watching Team America on the camp site at about midnight. The 'tooth option is one that appeals to me but I am not going to play with the ICE until it comes with a DAB reciever built in instead of forking out a couple of hundred quid for another box. I would recommend getting a multichanger too as some of the units functions don't work unless the map disc is in the drive. Very accurate mapping, fairly quick access and route updates. Best part is that uses gyros so it is not totally dependant on GPS for positioning. Big install in the car though, lots of wiring but it does fit down one side of the centre console ok. Got the hideaway box under the passenger seat and routed most of the cables up the centre tunnel under the trim. GPS reciever is very discrete and works well even though mine is in the corner of the windscreen on the dash - partially blocked by the passenger wiper. Mr Supercharged would like one too, on the basis of seeing mine in operation and given his frankly useless sense of direction he needs it!

You have pm Monseiur Beige.

That's one of the reasons I'm using a 20v inlet. Just need the bugger modified now!! I have a modded RS2 20v inlet if you need one  Was going to polish it up first and then sell it but you might not need it as the TB plate is G60.

Differences between G60 02a box and KR 16v 02a box?
Yandards replied to MillSpeed's topic in Drivetrain
If you have another look at the KB (knowledge base) there is a link at the bottom of the article on gearboxes with a spreadsheet for calculating speeds/rev. You feed in the 'box data for your box, set the rev chnage point for the redline/limit on your car and it will throw back the info. Very useful for an 'on the road' comparison of the different types of box. Bit wierd you have an ATA though! -
Whilst I am not a huge fan of the Fords it is always a shame to see people who really look after their cars suffer like this.
-
Nice find Jim. Shame he doesn't use the head to full effect by spinning it up a bit furthur. Got to be 'on the road' as you can see a shadow from a bridge track around on the video. Must be a G60 bottom end on that setup too.

Some more options for us FI valver boys (and girls) its not just the VR monkeys that get nice shinny bits! On a inlet manifold front for these conversions I have just received my new inlet manifold from RPM Tuning in Germany Link here It is based on a cut down S2 manifold but is a custom casting without the internal 'tubes' the S2 has. Another option is BBM have just started producing the 'bomb' Again a very nice inlet manifold and the weak dollar means that this will cost around the same as the RPM option. Link here The 16v billet coolant flange they sell is a very nice piece of kit and will last a lot longer than the plastic crap VW sell.
