Yep, probably the slave cylinder has gone. Its a little tube on the gearbox near the shifter tower (thing with cables), it's usually the slave cylinder that goes rather than the master, that's on the dash bulkhead next to the brake master cylinder and reservoir.

Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
Yandards replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Nope, none of the 3 I have owned have been unreliable. Especially compared to the 3 year old Pug 306 that I had, that never broke down but the stuff that went wrong was just due to poor build quality or design. -
Yes they are the same
-
Nope. I am not entirely convinced these don't cause some serious charger detonation, the shock loading as opposed to belt slip is no good for the G60.
-
These are the OE spec plug you would have bought from VW, plenty of mail order places sell them as already mentioned.

The CF Forza 3 Race League, Final League Standing Pg 1
Yandards replied to Yandards's topic in General Car Chat
Nope it's the international mini circuit 15 laps, start time is 20:00. Should provide some serious variety compared to some of our normal tracks. -
Likewise, bet we both end up going away and doing some tweaking after too..

Nope, it's all been sat waiting on funds and a rebuilt charger, couldn't see the point in fitting a worn charger that I will have to take off again as soon as it is running. There will be some tidying and modding to get it looking as I want obviously but that's more turd polishing than actual function issues. With a bit of luck I should get the charger back later next week so I can get it all fitted up the week after when I get some time.

A factory fitted early window module should one touch down both sides and up on the drivers. There are some early cars running around that had dealer fitted electric windows that don't have any one touch facility. Thanks to small children and fingers getting chopped off in the early 90's the rules on one touch up changed, they had to have a pressure sensor so they could sense body parts. As the Corrado window mech is pretty old school as it uses cogs and gears all new window units from VW won't have a one touch up because they can't comply with the regs. IIRC :)

Little update. Charger is at G-Werks for some stage 5 action as I type this, new belt ordered from VAG, got a new fuel rail loom to eliminate any issues with the old one that might be there, new heater blower motor as I robbed the old one for the nugget. As soon as the charger is back then it will be all back together and the onto getting the timing and CO set as well as I can manage with the kit I have. Slam panel will be going in for shot blast then respray as it's been cut to accomodate the intercooler, still got some wiring to do for the centre console gauges but will do that when the car is mobile as it will be easier out on the drive. Probably get the front crossmember, radiator support panel, front bumper brackets and front bumper ironwork off to the shot blaster and then dip galvanised so they last while I am in the area too.

Yeah PAS is only really useful at low speeds for parking, once you are moving then the wheel turns easily enough.
-
MOT regs say only white light to the front, so blue is a fail.
-
They are interchangeable with no mods as the oil sump is the same. Best bet is to fit a windage tray as that has an integrated rubber gasket on it and helps with keeping the crankshaft sloping through the oil.
-
Just typical, even in terrible weather the scum can still be bothered to go on the pinch, surely it would just be easier to get a job like the rest of us?

Does your engine still run? According to the electric string manual the only relay coded with '30' is for the ECU on a 2.0l 8v car or a G60(which I am going to guess you have) if so it goes into position 3 on the relay board (top row 3rd from the left). If there is one already in there then it must be a spare as number 30 is not showing up for anything else.

6"2 for me as well, hence the head to roof lining problem on the standard seats. If you can wait until BVF in July I might have the car with the recaros in on the road, I can always pick you up if you fancy going. ooo yes please! I'd love to go for a drive your famous G60! sharing petrol always helps you as well![/quote:1cv76nt8] Try the other link in my sig, the blue one not the yellow one. Blue one will be done by then, charger is at G-werks now getting a bit of Stage 5 action.

Or not, to be honest reg year marks are about as much use as a chocolate t-pot when it comes to revisions, the only way to be sure is with the chassis year letter code. The MOT thread is showing one Corrado as having been registered as an X plate!

MOT Statistics Released (ONLY 3000 CORRADOS LEFT IN UK!)
Yandards replied to LukeManic's topic in General Car Chat
I have one SORNED so that's one less and there is no way that is getting broken! I also know of at least another 2 SORN without trying to hard. I would suspect that a figure of around 3000 taxed, tested and on the road is about right with a total number still in 1 piece being closer to the 5000 mark IMHO. The hype surrounding them being future classics for the last 10 years mean that quite a good number will be locked up in storage for future use. -
Yes you can but the glass and reflectors are no good for an early RHD car, as they are the LHD variants.
-
Even easier check the chassis number, if it is an 'N' model year chassis then it will have all the right parts.

The guy I spoke to down Birmingham had a company called Dual Metalising, he was more than up for doing the reflectors, I have a spare one stripped and ready to go just not got around to it yet. The original reflector material is a right state on some cars and it often means an MOT failure for beam pattern, as new headlight units for early cars are now obsolete and you can't get piece part spares either. Had standard leather (heated), standard cloth and cloth recaros. The only difference in terms of comfort has already been covered between cloth Vs leather Vs recaros, although the electric adjustment on the recaro does allow you to sit lower than standard seats do; this stops me scuffing my head on the sunroof trim so that's nice..
-
Yep, but mostly they be worth more mega money the closer to standard they are. Rewind 2 years ago and Mk 2 Golf GTi's were around half the price they are now for a good one. It's a classic cycle in the lifespan of a car, especially a performance car. We are also at a point where the performance is not why people buy Corrados (as much), they are fairly rapid for the money but the new Tdi lumps are putting out similar power to VR from the factory. Yes I am now more interested in my project car than I have been in ages, typical considering it's bloody freezing outside, but all the long termers go through highs and lows - that's life really.
-
True, it uses a stepper motor on the throttle body to open and close the butterfly instead. OBD 2 should also give around 2-5 MPG extra, smoother idle and a much better pull through the gears - which is nice.
