  1. Cheers guys, 101% sure its the wheel bearings now...Doesn`t sound too good! How long can i drive the car with bearings like that, the droning noise isn`t too bad if i keep around 40mph but i got some more time off in a weeks time gonna try to book my car in at the local garage to have it done, you guys reckon it would last that long?
  2. Hi All Just used the search function but want to be sure i am right! Car just started making a horrible droning noise while driving along, pretty sure its coming from the front of the car, not sure which side though. But it doesn`t go away if i dip the clutch and gets louder when i brake Pretty sure its the front wheel bearings, but any other ideas (preferably cheaper ideas  ) Is it best to replace both front bearings? TBH not sure when they were last changed Thanks Ian
  3. I think i solved it in the end ;-) All i did was disconnect the alarm and re-connect it and touch wood it seems to be working back to its good old self :-)
  4. Well my car never had the ducts for the brakes, so the temp sensor was located in the bumper just above the towing eye...of course now i got the RS4 bumper that placement wasn`t an option so moved it to the home made cold air feed duct for the airbox! If thats what you meant?
  5. Fitted a FK mesh grille which i got from NickVR6, Sorry to keep you so long..didn`t realise we been talking about Corrado`s for an hour in the freezing cold
  6. Hi Got a weird problem with the central locking, the doors unlock when you press the unlock on the alarm but after anywhere between 2 to 10 seconds the doors lock themselfs ?. Looking at them yesterday and when i pushed the door pin down on the passenger side only that door would lock, went over to the drivers side pushed the pin down and all the doors locked, so thought ahhhhh found the problem tried the passeneger side again and still didn`t work so went back to the drivers side and guess what that now didn`t work  Strange thing is it would still lock/unlock on the alarm! Anyone had the same/similar problem? Got passat door handles which have been on there for 4months, but had to disconnect some wires going to the original handles, would this have anything to do with it you think? even though the c/l has been working fine since i changed to passat handles? Its a strange one, is there a c/l controller some where in the car? Don`t think its anything to do with the pumps, seems more electical related because it doesn`t always do it, only started Sunday! Any help would be great Thanks Ian
  7. Watch it mate, George W Bush will be after you  But if i were you i would do what Supercharged, says, get hold of a windage tray but make sure if you get a new sump get one from VAG because the one i got from GSF leaks like a bastard :-(
  8. Sorry to be another thread hijacker! but does anyone know what bit i need to fit the newer style VW sump bolts? Part no. is : N 905 927 03, there like the normal bolts but they have a torx type fitting in the middle of them just want to know what fits it? Thanks Ian
  9. Got some chrome plated door stricker bolts from them off of ebay, they looked good for about a week now one of them has rust on it :-(
  10. Am affaid to say YES IT IS  The little shite around this way have already removed one of my alloy aerials, got a sabre anti-theft one at the mo and they damaged the base my trying to remove that...Am quite shocked that it stayed on and still works but thought i`ll i would try the shark fin aerial shame it has the wrong connector!
  11. carpy25, Are you sure, because i can`t find one to fit ? Don`t suppose you have a link to one on the web do you? Thanks Ian
  12. Hi guys Just got hold of a new aerial but it requires a normal type aerial fitting not the screw type C have! Is there anyway of converting a screw type fitting to a female aerial fitting? Cheers for any help Thanks Ian
  13. g60greeny, Do we have the same car? Was down g-werks last week to have a JMR mount replaced with a BBM one because of very same reason! Daz had a hell of a time getting to it because the engine was mounted in the wrong place :x
  14. Looking nice m8, Was gonna paint the carriers red aswell but i`ll thought i would try painting them black to contrast a bit. Prob look rubbish but worth a try
  15. Well after running the SWG twin inlets for a couple of months now, i would say its nothing special..no noticable power increase, and TBH its not worth the money. The replacement airbox is made of very cheap feeling plastic and couldn`t get the alternator cover to fit and was a little annoyed that they made no effort with metal tube, for the price you would of thought it would of been polished up! Anyhow been doing a little bit work this weekend 1. Changed the front brake disc and pads, also replaced all the caliper bolts and caliper carriers bolts because they were looking dodgy! 2. I know its a bit Nova-ish but painted the calipers red to clean them up some instead of the rusting brown the normal look! 3. Fitted oil catch tank and re-position fan relays under the expansion tank
  16. Blue_Joe, IIRC the angel eyes lights use H7 bulbs, was just thinking about standard headlight....but as they don`t really work on the standard ones i`ll give up that idea :-(
  17. That link brings up the page for a H1 bulb converstion, surely you still need H4 size bulbs?
  18. ok here`s a puzzling problem i got with mine, the uprated loom seems to work ok(which i did myself, only on main beams at the mo) but the problem i`ve just started to have is:- if i go to full beam, the lights come on for about a minute or two then all the lights go out, full and main the side lights stay on but the most worrying thing is the ABS warning light then comes on! If you try to go back to just main lights, sometimes they come back othertime they don`t for a couple of trys? If you just drive on mains then the work fine! just when you go to full beam? anyone had this problem before? Gonna re-do my loom soon but don`t think its that tbh....think maybe dodgy headlight switch? Ian
  19. Well had mine for 6years now and still not bored of it, keep getting asked when you selling your car then m8...too which i reply "the day after,NEVER!"
  20. Hi All Just replace my front disc & pads on my G60 all by myself :-) I know it doesn`t sound much but its the first time i`ve ever done the brakes and am well chuffed with myself :-D Used the know-how from the knowledge base and it`s quite easy to do, had a little hiccup when tighten up the caliper bolts, set the torque wrench to 35lb ft instead of Nm and the bolt broke in two  but luckly after freaky out for 5mins i found another bolt the same size and thread  Just got to bed the new disc & pads in now and see now these black diamond disc & predator pad perform compared with zimmerman drilled & pagid FR pads they replaced. Cheers Ian
  21. Sweet looking golf g60 m8, what ever happen to that rallye that used to be sitting in the corner of the shop? That camber is abit extreme for a daily runner isn`t it  Mate, do you ever check your pm`s these days? send one to you ages ago!
  22. Looks good mate, I will have a kit soon as i get some money together
  23. Hi All Well feeling brave and the fact that the garages around this way are complete bunch of ........ well you know! i thought i`ll try to change my own front disks & pads today. Got hold of a set of 12 groove black diamond disks with matching predator pads from venom, downloaded the how-to-guide from the knowledge base and off i went. All was going well until i came to the calliper carrier bolts, wow my god they would not move a milli-metre, tried everything to move them.. even bend a socket bar wrench(see pic) Luckly the disk & pads that were on there didn`t look too bad, so put the original set back on, but my question is are these bolts always so difficult to remove, do you need a impact wrench to remove them or am i just really weak :-D Given up now, hopefully g-man can change them for us when i go down there to find out about a bigger intercooler and hopefully he can find out were this fecking annoying oil leak is coming from! Moan/Rant over Ian
