Usually about 400 miles to the tank so around 34-35mpg in a 1.8 16v running a twin exhaust cam mod. Cheers, Tom

Car accident within 48 hours of E38.. update PG3
TomB replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
Chip up fella! Glad to hear you're still coming to E38 though. I'd make sure you get any stone chips on your front re-sprayed when you get the work done as well... Cheers, Tom -
I've owned both the 2.0l and 1.8 16vs and liked both of them. The 2.0l 16v was more torquey and slightly more responsive, but the 1.8 was more rewarding to drive and gives better economy. Yes it's not as fast as a G or a VR, but it's still quicker than 90% of cars out there and above all it's a Corrado. If you want eye-bleeding acceleration and top speed, buy a bike, 'cause even a supercharged VR6 won't come close. If you want (relatively) cheap Corrado based fun, buy a valver :-)

Dark Blue 2l 16v (I think) going down the A1 around the Grantham area (again, I think) about 7pm on Friday night. I gave you the thumbs up as you came past the Landy I was driving.

I had the same problem with the first loom on my 'rado and it turned out to be one the the relays that kept melting. I'm afraid I can't help with the rest, but good luck man. Tom

Good to have you back man, and looking forward to seeing some more of your vids. Loving those last two photos

What they said about the wheels ^^ They really look super cool against the deep black gloss of the car. Nice.
-
Those seats are cracking, and I have to say that I for one really like those BBS' (but then I too have a Red Valver with the same wheels so I guess I'm biased).

jazzdevil, If I had the space for a second car, believe me I would... However I've got to pay the council for the privilege of parking my valver on the street, and the permits get stupidly expensive after the first car. Still doesn't stop me bein' tempted though :-)

That's looking nice, cool colour too :-) I think the wheels quite suit it, but someone's nicked your centre caps :) Cheers, Tom

craigowl, Nimrod = Slow witted individual. Numpty is the Yorkshire variation I think :-)

York to Le Mans and back in the 2l valver was fun. About 2000 miles in a few days, but fantastic fun :-) Mmmm..Autoroutes

Saw a few at Castle Howard today :-)

R1-Jay, it was LC5U - Aqua Blue Pearl Effect according to the boot sticker. Cheers, Tom

Very true, still that probably means that it could be negotiated below £2K...

There was a bump on the pedal, but no light, so it looks like another bulb job to add to the other one that I've remembered, the left hand indicator on the dial pod. Could have quite well have been a burble rather than a misfire, thinking about it. Still, either way, I've thought about it all afternoon, and I would LOVE to buy it, and could afford it...unless anything major went wrong. So, if anyone wants a £2K VR as a project it's in Autotrader for £3K from Headways Motor Company (01132 310070), 269 Tong Road, Leeds, LS12 4NQ. The company know nothing about 'rados as they took it in p/x against a Porsche. It was idling so badly at first, I thought it had a broken engine mount and point this out along with the other stuff, hence the price. It has no alarm/immob but 12 months MOT and they want rid of it. If anyone wants pics and the report from VW, let me know, as I'd love it to go to a good home (ie. someone on here). Cheers, Tom

No mayo, and no oil in the header tank. Gearbox seemed smooth, and no problems engaging any of the gears, BUT because it was at the back, all I did was idle/rev it, not actually drive it (yet). The bodywork was in good nick, although there was a sratch on the bonnet. Interior pretty good, seats in good condition, sunroof, heater controls, and spoiler all working. Seat hight adjustment handle bust, seat handle for moving it forward missing, cracked front fog light (but none of them work) and this ABS problem. It ran lumpy as hell to start with and I was about to walk, but after turning it off and on again, it really settled to a beautiful purr. What a sound! Did seem to missfire slightly as the revs came down after letting off though. To say I'm tempted would be an understatement :-) Is it worth it for the £2K being asked?

Nice one, cheers. If I were to buy the VR I'd want rid of them I think...possibly to replace them with some Speedlines :-) Cheers, Tom

As above, Cheers, Tom

I had a look today, and it's an early VR, as it has the early interior, 150K miles (not 102K as I optimistically thought) but after running very roughly on idle for about 5 minutes, I turn it off and re-started and it sounded very nice... Last serviced at a Stealership in 98 showing 102K though. A question for VR6 owners though, did the early VRs have ABS or is the warning light just cream crackered? Off to make a decision I think... Cheers, Tom

Things that have gone wrong and then fixed themselves.......
TomB replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
Temp senders on top of the heat exchanger maybe? You get a beeping at the same time? No just a nice gentle pulsing red light from the water temp. It's been well behaved recently though /tempting fate :-) -
Birghtened up my friday gents :-) :-)

Cheers dr_mat, I'll add thatr to my list :-)

Not a buying guide question but more of a general one. I might be going to look at a local VR I've seen for sale, however, in the description it says that it's been stood for 6 months but that it runs well. I'm thinking that it might need new oil, tyres, brake pads (and disks?) any more things to add to the list/check? It's a '93 K plater with 102K miles, 17" wheels for a cheap(ish) price. Cheers, Tom *edit* Title changed. Someone buy it before I give in :-)

Well my guess is if you've already got a feedback of -1, then you're not too bothered about another negative...
