Yup, -Neil- came up from Sheffield and bought it at the weekend IIRC.

Dark coloured (blue?) 'L' reg lowered 'rado in Harrogate about 7pm. I flashed and waved and got a wave back. Anyone?

Things that have gone wrong and then fixed themselves.......
TomB replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
The 'Ha ha you have headgasket failure' light keeps coming on, and then fixing itself. Still makes me brick it every time though :) -
I use either Magnatech or the Castrol 'High Mileage' stuff and have had no oil related probs. Cheers, Tom

I'm with the RAC and have also (ab)used their services and found them very helpful every time. I'll never do business with the AA again due to them extracting money from my bank account without my permission (long story). I'm also insured through my insurance company, as for £20 extra a year, when I run out of RAC call-outs I've got a backup :-) Cheers, Tom

Words of praise for cheesy from whom I purchased an early set of clocks. Arrived really well packaged today, very impressed. Cheers, Tom :thumbleft:

Yeah no problem at all. You can get an awful lot in when you put the seats down. Have had 5 wheels and tyres in for an MX5 before, and room for 5 more. Cheers, Tom

Heworth my arse! That's Fifth Avenue and definately Tang Hall :-) I'm really sorry I didn't see this earlier mate otherwise I could have walked over to have a look with you. Welcome to Corrado ownership mate, it looks a beauty

That sounds like an awesome track day, just a shame about having to go home on the truck. Still, like you say, you know what needs to be done to make it perfect, and there's no doubting that when it is, even the Shelby wont catch ya! :-)

Sorry I should have clarified, the place I buy it from in York for 75p/l includes duty to HM Customs and Excise. In the UK there is a 20p concession on biodiesel (unlike the rest of the Europe where there is NO tax on it at all). The smell of frying's rather nice though, you can pick out who's running in, and if you've got a good nose, which type of takeaway it came from :-) Back OT, I've no idea about Shell 100 RON, but I find Sainsbury's Super 97 RON is plenty good enough, and the same RON as BP Ultimate Unleaded (and probably from the same refinery). Cheers, Tom

Black G Plater (I think) in Elland around Lunchtime, window and light tints. I waved from a Silver Astra. Anyone?

Yup! :-) 1993 K reg Passat ran like a dream on it but it still had the glow plugs. Turn key, go and make cup of tea, come back, turn on engine :) Cheers, Tom

Biodiesel my man. Chip fat that's already been used for frying, add 5% methanol, heat gently, skin off impurities and you're left with a 98% used chip fat 2% methanol solution. It's not quite that simple but that's the bones of it. About 75p/litre @ the moment in York, or available wholesale on pallets in 1000l tubs for about £750. I'm selling up out of 'rado ownership to move to diesel I think as I can't afford the fuel bills anymore. Cheers, Tom

Good luck man. Email me your progress if you get bored during the day :)

Henny, sing out if you want an extra pair of hands. My mechanical knowledge isn't up to much but I can follow simple instructions (Hold this, make tea etc.) :-) and I'd love to see a diesel 'rado come together. Cheers, Tom

G-Max shocks and Eibach springs, but I've got an idea what it might be. I think the 'second stage' deceleration is what should happen when you lift off ie normal throttle retardation, but due to the cable not returning to where it should as quickly as it should in the first place you get this two stage effect. Just a theory.

Leading on from the post in the Digital SLR topic about my preference for £10 Zenit 35mm SLRs with enormous telephoto lenses, I thought I'd post up some pics of the racing at Croft. All taken with a 1980 Zenit SLR with a 500mm lense and no bipod etc. A fun and cheap way to get a shot of the action. Cheers, Tom

Nice work man, I always had a soft spot for Sebrings myself. They've done a good job on the spray work as well. Mmm...shiney

Those wheels look really nice painted black and suit the car down to the ground. Black front badge really gives it an all over 'stealth bomber' look too :) I'm sure I recognise that location as well from the photos you sent me of the C :-)

Just got a film back from the developer so I thought I'd add a 'low' shot :-) Bit spattered with flies, but I'd just arrived in Cornwall.

dinkus, good summary. I simply couldn't afford to run a G60 or VR6 but I can (just) afford to run a valver and I have a Corrado. I still love it as a car and every time I feel dissapointed performance wise, all I have to do is get in work's Astra and then back in my car to feel good again :-)

Hi there, having recently done this I think I can help... 1) No (or at least no one that I found :)). I just emptied mine by undoing the bottom hose and then running water through it until it ran clear. 2) I poured mine in through the top radiator hose and topped up through the expansion tank after running the engine, squeezing the hoses etc. 3) Use G12+ as you shouldn't be able to buy either G11 or G12. If you mix G11 and G12 together they'll gunk up your cooling system but you can mix G12+ with either safely. About a 60% water 40% G12+ mix should do the trick. Your cooling system capacity is 5.5l so 2 bottles of G12+ should suffice. Cheers, Tom P.S If your spring clips are looking worn, you might as well replace them with jubilee clips.

A friend of mine has a GTI-6 Rallye and while I haven't driven it, from being a passenger/racing it it has excellent throttle response, decent handling (although the guy has had the back end out a couple of times) and it is FAST. He says that he has to back off in third as it starts to make him scared :-) He posts on http://www.pistonheads.com so that might be a good place to direct your friend to. Cheers, Tom

I get some stick from some mates...but only the ones who don't have driving licences and 'Don't like driving.' Sorry, I really can't understand that at all. The rest of my mates respect my opinion although I think I have reputation for being slightly 'rado obsessed (which is unfair, I like Passats, Golfs and most other 'dubs as well). Everyone likes getting a lift in it, although you can spot those who drive Micras etc by the white knuckles as you enter a corner at what you consider to be a perfectly reasonable speed. As for work, most of the Engineers in my office are closet petrolheads and either have bikes or fun cars (or have a family and wish they did) :-) Chin up old boy, I for one think you have a cracking motor (and I'm sure most would agree). Character is important in a car and I'd rather be spending money on a cool VW that driving some bland A-B sh1tbox that costs a fortune in depreciation. Cheers, Tom
