Good! I remember the old forum and the mere mention of the word: "K&N" would spark a furious debate from the stuffy old sorts. God only knows what kind of outrage a "Forced induction VR6" thread would have created back then

Assuming it's a 4 cylinder we're talking about here, then you can get remote filter parts from many motorsport suppliers. For starters, here's a remote filter head - http://www.speedflowshop.co.uk/mocal-remote-filter-heads-148-c.asp

I worked in the Insurance industry for 8 years and I *do* agree with all the (negative) comments made so far.

Lucky number 7 - sold but 911 in its place

Didn't you already have these on your old red VRT? Clearly you have tried every possible wheel out there and are having to start from the beginning again  -
I remember the old Corrado Club e-group 'forum' and how gloomy and argumentative it was. Andi's Corrado Forum was a ray of sunshine by comparison and clearly the kind of atmosphere Corrado owners wanted, judginy by the massive uptake of new members after it opened for business. I'm sorry but I always found the CCGB to be a stuffy picnic blanket affair and wanted nothing to do with it.

One of my bugbears is people listing a fault as cheap and easy to fix, but don't bother fixing it themselves..... then say "No timewasters".

Your humour sometimes results in closed threads ;)

Ham and eggs are this forum's staple diet :D I think a few warped individuals (myself included) inject a kind of humour that might go over some peeps' heads  In a bag. Plus an egg.

Yep. That is Britain all over. The people who have the ability (but not necessarily the desire) to pay are targetted and royally fleeced. It's morally repugnant. Just because these companies see Mr Smith with his £50k salary, they assume he's a bottomless pit. But what about his wife who's not working, looking after his 2 kids. The bills to run his house are astronomical and his job is uncertain. Nope, they don't give a f'ck Mr Smith runs into his overdraft every month. They just want to f'ck him over, and 1000s like him/her. In a bag. Plus an egg.

As the member with the most posts and therefore the most time spent on here, I've seen quite a few 'lulls' in activity over the years. It's certainly not like it was 5 or so years ago, where it (imo) it peaked in it's fizziness and all round sense of community but I've seen some new folk join and seem like top people. So let's not write it off just yet :D They just need time to flourish and push the old cronies like me aside  Our lives have changed. We've gotten older. Interests and priorities change (kids, marriage, buying/moving house etc). The world has changed. Some of us don't feel secure in our jobs anymore. We've just come out of recession (apparently) but it doesn't feel like it. Money is becoming increasingly tight, but that doesn't stop loosely regulated thieves like banks, insurance and utility companies stealing our hard earned money more vigourously than ever. Not to mention the goverment continually raping us at the petrol stations. And we all feel down this time of year because it's cold, grey & miserable outside, heating our homes costs a f'kin fortune and christmas is coming up, etc etc. So yeah, all of these factors affect both the frequency of forum visits and people's moods in general, such as Tom in his "I hate insurance" thread  When this country gets it's act together, then moods will improve and the good times will roll on here again :D As for the search, yep, it is atrocious. Just as an experiment, I wanted to find the threads relating to power gains from 263 cams. So my search was 263+cams+hp and all I got was 5 pages of largely unrelated dog sheet. So I really do feel the pain of newbies trying to find information. To be fair, forum search engines in general have a long way to go, not just ours. Cliqueyness. Yes, it's easy to feel outcast and ignored. You think this forum has that? Try Pistonheads and the Vortex!! If these forums were metaphorical parties, you'd walk in and everyone has their back to you. You shout "hello", and no one turns around. You are properly blanked. Unfortunately this is just how forums are I'm afraid. It's human nature. People just cherry pick the threads that interest them. I don't think anyone intentionally sees a new member or a repeated question and thinks to themselves "what a dork, I'm going to go out of my way to ignore him/her" Chin up peeps. We'll have no apathy or lack of enthusiasm on my watch please :D In a bag. Plus an egg.

Yet another 'arms length' regulated industry. I don't know why we are paying so called governance organisations (such as ofgem et al) because they appear to do absolutely f'ck all. In a bag. Plus an egg.

Fixed :D In a bag. Plus an egg.

The Sonos stuff is sonically up there with the best of them, but it's not cheap. Or there's plenty of cheaper ways to do it. It just depends on your sound quality expectations! In a bag. Plus an egg.

Yep, the MAF. If unplugging it with the engine running makes no difference, the ECU is already using the throttle potentiometer as it's main load measurement, which isn't very accurate and will cause some running issues. MAFs are virtually impossible to diagnose unfortunately. They either work or they don't. Trying a MAF from a known good running VR6 is a cheap way to test it, but not always possible.
-
Well that means the ECU has already bypassed it then, so suspect that as the culprit. And before you say "it was replaced x months / years ago", it doesn't make a jot of difference. When they go, they go, and are impossible to diagnose properly. As Floppyman said, this has been covered countless times already. Poor running, lumpiness, stalling can all be attributed to the MAF.

VW legal department hitting out at fan websites again

That's the thing though, no one was 'stealing' anything from VW. Merely referencing to them on a forum! I wonder what VW thought of the Beastie boys, back in the day.... I bet they took it as free advertising! -

What's with the big shiney snow shovel at the back? What a heap o sheet. But as I say, VAG are very good at market research and it's that kind of sheet people are buying. But that still doesn't excuse their price tags. -
How can a man that big and fat even work on cars? Loved the £20 extra wiring fee to fix a fault he created

Check this out - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1208908&mid=56093&nmt=RE%3A+Chris+Harris+video%3A+BMW+M135i+vs+Audi+RS3 BMW M135i vs Audi RS3 Standard M135i = £30K RS3 = £40K The BMW comes out of the battle very favourably indeed. What the hell are VAG playing at? Merely competent cars at hideously over the top prices. Firstly, I think Audi have contracted Apple syndrome. And secondly, I think a few of their cars appearing in hollywood blockbusters has gone to their heads. Fair play, they've done their research and discovered what it is people are willing / stupid enough to pay through the nose for, but even so, few people like the Apple on wheels brand they are becoming. -

VW need to be careful. "VAG Bashing" is already reaching fever pitch across loads of forums. If they start p1ssing off their loyal customers as well, well, they'll dig their own grave when everyone switches to BMW or Merc. -
Sorry to be a pedant, but you might want to seek clarification on that :D I can see the wheels are 5 stud, but surely 288s would be the brake of choice instead of making the less powerful 4 stud brakes fit? Anyway, I'd do the swap for sure. Corrados aren't exactly thin on the ground or fetching big prices, so you can always get another one if the MK2 proves to be a mistake of biblical proportions ;)

It's the MAF. It's always the MAF!

Kin ell.... not a peep from the Heronclaws for months, then he exhumes the old cheese n ham thread!! So then, ham and cheese fans. How many slices of ham? Eh? eh? Personally....I can't be doing with skimping on the ham. I like the ham layer to be at least as thick as one of the bread layers.
