colin mcrae style slide in corrado r32
Kevin Bacon replied to narrowescape's topic in Newbies Hangout
I did think that actually. The new owner signing up with a new name related to his near death experience, but then I thought, there's just no way. I checked my hoses for lock to lock tension / snagging and they were proper Goodridge MK3 hoses, so the right length....and they'd been on there a number of years with no issues. Grommets all in tact, etc etc. There's just no way I would sell a car with dodgy brakes! -
colin mcrae style slide in corrado r32

This is exactly why Brussels are trying to introduce a Europe wide ban on modifying cars..... Failing to check a basic thing like brake hose length could have resulted in deaths. -
I used this bosch coilpack inside the VW amplifier housing - http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/pdf/components/ignition_coils/3x2.pdf The bolt spacing is the same as the VW coils but the ally amplifier housing needs a slight bit of trimming and obviously the 4 output connections from the amplifier need modifying to fit the different coils.

Doom 3 bfg editon-Looks pretty awsome
Kevin Bacon replied to corrado_sunderland's topic in Off-topic Chat
Is it? Gutted. I was looking forward to that. RE5 got bad reviews but I actually quite liked that, and RE4. But the RE1 and 2 were the best. They should remake them with newer and faster graphics. Jim, try getting Quake to run at 1600x1200 on OS/2 Warp  -
Yeah I've seen that happen to a few sets of SP263s. Email him with pictures and he should send a replacement set over. I think he had a bad batch.

Could be the 13mm spindle nut isn't tight enough? It's under the plastic cover on the wiper arm.

Haha, that'd be me then :D I didn't give up as such, it drove lovely and all the Gremlins were ironed out. I just felt the time was right to move on and I always wanted to sell it with an OEM ECU instead of a standalone, to make the next owner's life a lot simpler. Although ironically, it's the OEM ECU which causes all the Gremlins.

I remember seeing on TV a drag race between a Z3M Coupe and an M3 years ago, and the Z3 kicked the 3's arse! :D

The R32's bottom end torque lends itself well to a Rotrex, which only kicks in quite high up the midrange. I reckon a standard 6psi non-intercooled kit would bag you about 350hp. As for fitment in a Corrado. It's a tightly squeezed in package in the MK4/MK5, so should be interesting in a Corrado. It's been done though, afailk. I agree with C5 OEM. Supering, Turboing, then R32ing was very enjoyable and it wasn't all about the money for me, being my main hobby and all that, but I won't be doing it again! Having watched values of Corrados sink through the floor in recent years, I can't really justify that kind of expenditure anymore. I'll be buying cars that are fast to begin with from now, because values of those have also plummeted, so makes more sense :D I reckon the Z3M Coupe is one of few cars that will have the same blend of insanity, endearing character, rarity and compact dimensions as a highly modded Corrado.

Yep, driven 'normally' I saw an average of 32mpg after Vince remapped it and when babying it (sticking to the speed limits and early upshifts) I saw 35-36 mpg. To put that into perspective, the Alfa 147 2.0 I'm currently using matches that if driven equally sedately. Quite incredible really that a 3.2 litre 260hp engine can match the economy of a 2.0 engine making 150hp. But obviously, stick your toe down in the 32 and you'll see as low as 15mpg easily  Modified Corrados tend to be weekend toys anyway but there is also the 2.0 TFSi conversion, which is popular at the moment. Good economy, good spread of torque and good power. Especially from the K04 turboed flavour. The only downside is they sound like a sack of spanners at idle and a lot of them drink oil like it's going out of fashion.

Stolen Headlights - Medwaycorrado . Help needed.
Kevin Bacon replied to dumptyboy's topic in Off-topic Chat
Personal details removed as requested. I tend to agree with Jim. No matter what the reason, it only takes a few seconds to MSM or PM someone the reason. Anyway, I hope this situation comes to a satisfactory resolve :D -
Yes, he is! Those wanting an R32 rado, also PM Heresites
-
A quick drive in one will reveal why :D When you're talking bang per buck modifications on the Corrado, the R32 sits way below forced induction financially and in the real world, it's not that much slower. I do miss my old VR6 turbo engine as it had 50-100 acceleration that upset Gallardos, but to get that engine to a level I was happy with in terms of reliability, it cost me several thousand. A complete R32 conversion, fully mapped etc will come in at around £2K, maybe £2.5K if done super neatly, depending on the cost of the donor engine.

We are exactly the kind of community spirited forum that would rally together to help a member out though. Having seen the size of some of the guys who've been out to mine to buy parts, I just don't get how some people can take the risk, but I guess if scammers are dishonest by nature, they won't care either way. -
Seen Quicky's car and it's very nice indeed.
-
Yeah I agree on that. Why hasn't he used it for so long? It's like turning up to a job interview with a 4 year gap between jobs. They will want to know what you've done with yourself for 4 years. It's seldom a good sign! Maybe he bought it purely as an investment but it hasn't kept it's value or gone up like he hoped it would?
-
It is every bit as clean as it looks. Considering someone paid £15K for a Storm turbo last year, I'd say this Charged Storm is a steal at £7.5K. If someone wanted a super clean Storm (like it or not, they fetch a premimum over the lesser VR6s by default) and also wanted to supercharge it, you'd be foolhardy not to buy this. The engine work runs well into 4 figures alone. It's got expensive wheels, expensive brakes, the lot. As far as modified Corrados go, it's probably the most complete package around.
-
Hmmm, I don't like it. As it says in the article, it's one step closer to driverless cars. It'll be like remote assistance on computers. A team of government people will be monitoring your driving, and then take over the controls if you misbehave, steering you neatly back home, kicking you out of the car, bolting the doors then revoking your license!
-
How exactly? Traditional steering methods turn the road wheels immediately last time I looked.
