I think the MK2 idea appealed to my desire for tinkering and simple engineering, but there's nothing definite in my mind at the moment. The Honda S2000 & Z3M Coupe are the strongest contenders at the moment. And yep, I will be aiming for the S54 engined one if it's the car I decide on :D Haha, well you're clearly one of them then if you've had to mention that ;) I may vehemently argue my point, yes, but I don't set out to deliberately upset or antagonise people :D

It may have been, but it won't hurt to ask anyway :D

Not you as well Fanjita  I haven't really thought about a replacement yet. I am really keen on simple cars though. A lot of modern cars appeal but home mechanics just can't do anything on them and modern VAGs in particular, just have so many faults that only expensive dealer trips can put right. What I loved about the Corrado was it's simple and robust engineering which made it a very easy car to work on. I have got ideas of a MK2 Golf with a TFSI conversion swimming around my head at the moment, but I know what I'm like. What will start out as a simple engine swap will turn into something crazy (and expensive!) :D What I also liked about the Corrado was it's size. It's tiny, meaning placing it on the road was easy. It fits in garages easily. It fits in car park spaces easily. I was looking at M5s, RS4s etc, all the usual stuff...and they are big, heavy tanks that won't fit in my garage, won't be as nimble on the B roads and won't be easy to park etc etc. So a MK2 with a fully modernised chassis and a modern engine in it will probably fit the bill quite nicely :D If I do go down this route, it has to be the best MK2 money can buy. I can't be arsed with rust any more!

I think Fanjita might be open to offers, based on his last comment in my thread (Kevhaywire's R32 Corrado) ;)

Yeah the old girl has gone to a very decent chap who I know will look after it as well as I did :D I just felt ready for a change but I'm not leaving the forum though. Who knows, I may even end up getting another one some day. Seems to be the way with Corrados doesn't it!

Remember to resynchronise your motors before refitting them to the sunroof folks. 1) Leave the roof in it's closed position 2) Connect replacement motor to the loom 3) get out of car and operate the full closure 4) observe the motor turn then stop 5) Motor is now happy where up, down, back and forward are and refit to the sunroof. If you don't do this, the motor will basically keep going when you slide it back until it crunches into something, or won't tilt properly, won't close properly etc etc.

Half way along the A12 between Ipswich and Colchester :D

Mine fetched £4.5K with very good bodywork, an R32 conversion & KW V3s etc etc. I can't really see any standard / mildly tweaked VR6 with less than perfect bodywork getting over £3K these days. It's the one thing people focus on the most with old cars because the panels are hard to get.

Yep! Lots of complaints about the beta version's look and feel on the net and the guy who sits next to me at work has it on his machine. I'm not a fan of it at all! I'm sure it's probably fine once you get used to it, but I can forsee a lot of reluctance to adopt it.

Hmmm, they're not light cars for their size imo. I put mine on the weighbridge some years ago and it was 1320kg. At that time, the only mods were 17s and a Supercharger. The 1210kg handbook figure is complete cobblers!

I haven't got any packing materials sturdy enough for that I'm afraid. Come on, come out to the country, it'll be good for you :-)
-
It's nice, but not £3850 nice imo.

Oh yeah, there's a rough coating on the pad that only lasts a few miles to help with bed in, but mainly it's the chamfered edges that stop the squealing!
-
You mean the panels that sit in the corners of the bumper? From memory they're same on the VR6 (except L and R handing) on both sides, but not sure about the valvers etc. And they're obsolete now I believe!

Wow, small world! :D I remember Mykoo motorsport. Got that's going back some years. It was a red one if I remember right? Ran on some tasty ABT 17s and some other bits when I saw it in the magazine feature. You didn't sell the crank to a chap from Sunderland did you? Glad you've still got it!

Thanks for the kind words sir :D And without wanting to sound big headed, I know Corrados inside and out, so always happy to pass on the knowledge!

Sean Jaymo offered me the asking price over PM. Technically he should have said "I'll take it" in this thread but he had a question before buying, so I'll let it slide on this occasion.

Yep, that is the problem often discussed on here. The passenger side water plate guide has snapped. The only way to close it is to pull back the lining cover (just shove it backwards firmly and it unclips and slides back into the roof), then push the cable guide backwards with a screwdriver. You will need to drop the whole assembly down and replace the broken part with a VW repair kit, which you WILL find with the search ;)

Who knows, I may get another one in the future. History has shown that happens on here many times! I never used to see another Corrado on the roads but typically, since selling mine, I've seen loads! In general I think so. The only things that have repeatedly broken on me over the years are the sunroof and steering rack. Everything else that's been replaced / uprated with new parts and well maintained have been completely reliable. The sunroof is just a schitt design and nothing can be done about it I'm afraid. You can get more life out of it by stripping it right down, cleaning every scrap of grit and old grease out of it, fit a pair of new water plate guides (£90 and still available) and absolutely critical - only use the special VAG "sliding mechanism" grease. If just left, it WILL break.

The new owner of mine is on here, but not a frequent user. I'm sure he'll introduce himself and my old car in due course :D It's been an absolute pleasure owning and modifying my Corrado and this forum has been a MASSIVE part of the overall ownership enjoyment, so I'm not going anywhere :D VR6 sold his rado years ago, and he's still on here ;)

£370 Buyer collects RRP prices and specs: 12" JL Audio sub in JL ported box - http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/cp112-w0v3-car-audio-basswedge-subwoofer-systems-93281 JL Audio XD400/4 amp - http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/xd400-4-car-audio-xd-amplifiers-98261 Check all the usual cheapy online ICE sellers and you will find my asking price is a steal for these new, unused components. This is premium grade stuff. JL Audio have been at the forefront of high quality ICE for decades. The amp is absolutely tiny (class D amplification is very compact) and packs the same punch as amps more than twice it's size.
