Probably won't attract much interest on here, but it's useful for 4WD conversions or even a high power FWD 6 speed conversion. O2Q gearbox code. £200. Buyer collects.

Complete - £60 posted When fitted to a Corrado, the rear bias valve can be deleted, the ECU is built into the pump and it doesn't need a pedal position sensor, so is a much more compact and reliable system compared to the Corrado's. Others who've fitted it report a better feel to the brake pedal. Was going to fit to my car, but it's now sold, so surplus to requirements.

Do what exactly? As we've already said, there aren't enough people who think the same way you do to make a difference. And if people do try and force their opinions onto the Government, well, you saw how quickly they threw the yobbos who contributed to the London riots into the slammer. The minority who think they are above the system just ruin the wider population's lives. Cast your mind back to the mods and rockers of the Thatcher era if you're old enough. It's far easier and more productive to improve your own life off you're own back, than worry about everyone's else's.

I just leave the stickers on the pads. There's no real reason to remove them and in my experience, the 288 setup doesn't squeal anyway. The pads, you will notice, are chamfered on the leading and trailing edges to help with noise and bed in.

Something my parents taught me from a very early age. In fact, they used to say "If you don't study hard at school, you'll never make anything of yourself". Tough love. I like this :D Not totally true mind. I think I only got 4 GCSEs at C or above  I've done OK for myself though....just by buckling down and not expecting anyone to do me any favours.

The stickers just aid fitment. The inboard pad clips into the caliper piston and the outboard one sticks to the caliper via the double sided tape, just to hold it in position. Then all the dealer mechanic has to do is lump the caliper back over the disc as a job lot. I can't really see how it's an anti squeal pad because when you come to change the pads, you will see metal on metal marks where the sticky pad used to be.

The new owner picks it up on Saturday. He seemed very pleased with it during the test drive :D I have an idea of what I'd like next but I need to get the house sold first!

Because any party who isn't in power is like a back seat driver. They always think they can do a better job but when given the reigns, they are either no better, or worse. Imo politicians are just a bunch immature little kids. They waste millions of our £s on election campaigns, which ultimately are just them heckling each other in Westminster and on TV. I could publically humiliate and slag off politicians for free. Why do we have to listen to their show boating bull schitt every 4 years, and more importantly, why do we even believe their bull schitt enough to vote? It just beggars belief how this country's government continues to be based on false promises and lies. It's why I have nothing to do with it. I'd like to see polling cards with the following options:- Labour, Conservative, Lib Dems, UKIP, The Green Party and None of the above: You're all feckin useless lying b'stards. Nicely put :D

Women indeed! Sold mine yesterday without telling the Mrs and then she had a moan at me for not telling her, having previously showed absolutely zero interest in it and constantly shrieking at me to slow down! I thought she'd be pleased it went  So now I am tooling around in my Dad's Alfa 147 for a while. Talk about jumping out of the reliability pan into the fire :D First issue - OSR sidelight bulb stays on permanently, which drains the battery. The fix? A new 'Body Control' computer  What ever my next car will be, I will do my best to avoid something modern as they are just an electrical pain in the arse.

Yep yep. As you say though, this is the whole problem. Never the twain shall meet. There are just too many opposing views by the population of this country that there will never, ever be a happy medium, and there never has been as far as my limited memory / experience of politics goes. And all politicians are sly old bar stewards. One party introduces Poll tax, their successor removes it and introduces Council tax instead, which is considerably more. Politics is NEVER about change. It's all about blame and rebranding existing policies. There will always be 3 distinct subcultures in any society. Those at the top and politicians scratching each other's backs, the grafters that keep the country moving, and the lower classes. As we've discussed on here before, it's always the 'squeezed middle' (i.e. Sunderland with his £45K salary) that get the biggest shafting.....but most of us realise this and just get on with our lives and enjoy them. Getting stressed about politics is a waste of grey hair and blood pressure. There is absolutely NOTHING we can do to change it, so it's just not worth the angst. If no one votes, they'll do an emergency election and we'll still end up with someone we don't like. If we all gather outside Downing street with our pitchforks threatening a revolt, they'll just declare marshall law and brush us aside like twigs. So where is the gain in getting upset by it? None as far as I can see. The idea that a Utopian existence is possible in this country is futile. You'd be better off moving somewhere where the pace of life is slower and less political and corporate.... Alaska is nice I hear :D

Ask Vince if an AUE 2.8 24V crank will fit as I've got one loafing about. I have a feeling the 12 and 24V cranks are the same.

Yep. It's all about buckling down, keeping your nose clean and surviving these days. If you have limited income, surviving means paying your bills, paying your taxes and eating. It doesn't mean smoking, getting drunk, sky TV, posh clothes and cars and other low priority frivolities. I've seen the word 'fair' mentioned. But what is 'fair'? When it boils down to it, it's a dog eat dog world. Every man for himself. It's always been this way. It's only because of the recent exposure into politics and top earners by the media that everyone is now blowing things out of proportion and want 'somebody' to make everything better by waving some financial magic wand where everyone is better off. It ain't gonna happen. Not ever. I'm sorry, but 'fair' in my book is the people who work hard to achieve their status in life. Flunking school and dossing about sponging off the state is most definitely not fair. If there is no work where you live, it's quite simple really. Get qualified and get moving to where there is work. I'm sick of this country's attitude on hand outs and not willing to fix their lack of income themselves by honest to god grafting.

Yep, many Corrado parts are crazy money now. Some things I've repeat bought over the years have more than doubled now. RE the serpentine belt cover, Andy is correct. It sits at the bottom and shields the PAS and crank pulleys. 1 self tapper attaches it to the rad support panel. Another one to the arch liner and it also clips around the cross member underneath by the carbon can. I'm afraid it's obsolete. S/hand is your only option. It took me ages to find one. I foolishly removed that and the radiator duct panels many years ago, thinking they were just superflous decoration, but after a few winters of getting leaves, salt, gravel and water in the engine bay, and belts lasting 2 years, tops, I sought these parts out!!

Starting car thats not been started for a while?
Kevin Bacon replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah without a crank sensor, the pump would still prime and it would still turn over, which is why I'm thinking there is a more fundamental electrical fault somewhere. Did you fit a genuine switch or a GSF one? The latter are known to be pretty poor. -
do you find yourself being drawn back to the same model of car?
Kevin Bacon replied to Danny Ess's topic in General Car Chat
The one thing I did like about the MK1 heaters is you could have hot and cold air at the same time, but for some reason, my heater never really got hot. The MK2's heater is like a furnace by comparison. I also had G60 brakes, an Autocavan upgraded cross linkage, bulkhead strengthening plate, rear disc conversion etc but they were never really that good imo. This was back in 1996 though, so maybe the parts have improved since then. -
I think "The only way is Essex" TV show slightly exaggerates what Essex lads and birds are really like, but it's not that far from the truth in my experience. Every day I see girls with orange faces and white necks. Everyone wants to be something they're not around here. Proper aspirations to be a footballer or footballer's wife. It's a proper Range Rover and Gucci shoe region of the country unfortunately. Doesn't bother me though. I've lived in many parts of the country and abroad and I like it daaaaaaan saaaaaaaf innit geez. The orange folk tend to stick together and I give them a wide berth :D I'm not like that and neither are my friends, so I don't give two crusty turds if people think Essex is a chav fest. Regional stereotyping has been going on for decades and it always will! It's the same down here too. I have olivey skin and dark hair / eyes etc and I have been called paki, spick, darky, half-cast, go back to your own country etc etc. And I am British born FFS!!! No offense meant by any of those words by the way. People down here can be incredibly narrow minded, short sighted and racist. It's not just your area mate.

They weren't a lot. £13 for one side and £22ish for the other IIRC. I haven't got any pics or p/ns I'm afraid but I know the bits you mean. They screw into the engine facing side of the radiator end cans with 2 large self tappers. Plus another self tapper per side that attaches them to the radiator support panel. They're quite handy to have as they stop the engine bay getting wet and full of road salt over winter. I would also get the serpentine belt cover too if not already there as I've lost a few belts over the years to salt and assorted grit particles getting embedded in the belt grooves, which quickly wrecks it.

Starting car thats not been started for a while?
Kevin Bacon replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah that's it. If you look on the front engine mount bracket, there's a black plug (knock sensor) and a white plug (crank sensor). Seperate the white plug and that will kill the spark and fuel! -
Starting car thats not been started for a while?
Kevin Bacon replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
Jim, I would disconnect the crank sensor then turn it over to build oil pressure (cuts both spark and fuel). The engine will turn over a lot easier if you remove the spark plugs. It takes about 30 seconds to fully build up pressure in the chain tensioner from memory. Then reconnect the crank sensor and it should fire up. As it's not had any fluids in it for ages, I would run it for about 50 miles, then drain them off and refill. Andy, dead ignition switch maybe? Try again whilst wiggling the key around. -
Ah OK. Ford took out a patent and copyright stopping people copying their heated windscreen idea. I read somewhere last year that it was due to expire soon, so expect lots of other cars to have heated screens from now on :D
-
Cool! So Ford's patent has expired then? ;)
-
I got a pair of these last year from VW. Are they definitely now obsolete then?
-
Cheers mate, I thought as much! Sold to Gus. Lockaroo!
