  1. There's no way I could go back to a MK1 again. I like my basic cars, but not that basic :D I still have nightmares about the winters I drove that car in and people think the Corrado's wipers and headlights are bad!! And the heater, rubbish.....and the brakes.....my god, the brakes!!! I've only had one Corrado, so not sure yet if I will come back to it. But MK1 and 2 Golfs, no chance :D
  2. Yeah it's an inductance loop, as per electric toothbrush charging and you're right, I don't think you get as much 'calorific' energy from that kind of charging as you would a physical connection with more grunt (amps) behind it. Maybe some qualified sparkies on here might be able to confirm? And wouldn't the car's metal body mess around with the charging in some way? Maybe it's just for those G Whizz plastic bodied type cars? I think Hydrogen was deemed a bit unsafe due to the pressures and extreme flammability involved or do you mean the cars that extract hydrogen from water? My old physics teacher once told me an interesting story about a home made inductance loop. For years the national grid noticed a very slight voltage drop on one of their high tension lines, so one day they sent an engineer out to investiate the lines / pylon. In the end they traced the voltage drop to the house that was directly under the pylon. Turns out the chap living there built a MASSIVE inductance coil in his shed and was basically creaming off free electricity from the high tension wires  I don't know if that's an urban myth or not, but I like the sound of it :D
  3. Nifty! I tip my hat to anyone who goes down the standalone route :D
  4. Yeah I was thinking about car parks with 'charging mats' under each space, but thought it was too stupid / far fetched to even mention, so I'm glad you did :D I don't really buy the fuel shortages Jim. Sure it will run out eventually, but not as quickly as the doom mongers will have us believe. I'm sure your parents remember as well as mine do the 1970s 'fuel crisis'? We've not seen anything like that since. So where did all the fuel suddenly come from that kept us going in the 80s, 90s, 00s ? And what do engine makers know that we don't? Engines are becoming more and more powerful all the time and still being produced with gusto, such as the humungous container ship engines and bigger aero engines for example. Car engines have merely lost a couple of cylinders to please Brussels, but they're still pushing for higher and higher hp, which requires fuel. If fuel REALLY was in short supply, a much much bigger drive for electric would be in place than the current token efforts.
  5. Yup. The infrastructure changes required to accomodate this will be massive. Petrol stations are comparitively easy to throw up. The fuel is brought to them by tankers and there are plenty of brownfield sites along every A road and Motorway to build one on. Threading millions of wires to charging points across the country is a far bigger challenge and I predict vandalism, electricity theft and stupid chav toss pots electrocuting themselves.....mind you.... that's not such a bad thing. Plus the whole notion of plugging your car into the mains already seems so old fashioned and clunky years before it's even viable!!
  6. I used to have one many moons ago. It's been redesigned a few times since then because mine used to puncture it's fuel tank every time it hit anything. I would also defo recommend the electric start option as I used to get blisters starting mine it took so long. If you're in the market for something like this, I can offer you something LOADS better for a good price. An FG Marder race 1/4 scale :D Google it. I've had it for years but never really used it. It's on my "Garage clearout" list :D
  7. By which time your lovely 240V will have dropped to about 100V :D
  8. Sold to Mr Whiley! I don't have PayPal mate. PM me and we'll exchange details :D
  9. £55 delivered I believe this obsolete and was £60 ish when last available. ---------- Post added at 3:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:17 PM ---------- P.S. I have 2 clips left and will include them. I think you can still get those from VW.
  10. The infamous lower scuttle panels that always break during a screen replacement. Loads of clips included. For some bizarre reason, the left one is in a gloss finish. It was supplied from VW like that. I was going to paint the other 2 sections to match but never got round to it. As I understand it, you can no longer buy these as a complete set new anymore. £90 delivered
  11. £40 delivered. I could be wrong but I think they're obsolete.
  12. These are the exterior seals that run along the bottom of the glass, between the door frame and wing mirror.
  13. £85 delivered These are the window scraper seals at the tops of the doors. I believe they are obsolete and were £50 each + VAT when last available.
  14. I'm not sure to be honest mate. So many ideas floating around in my head, but that also appeals! The car doesn't owe me anything and I'm not desperate to sell it. It's not advertised on any paid sites. I just want it to go to the right person :) Video link fixed and another one from the back (and proof the spoiler works and there's no blue smoke) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbI0evRZCnE&feature=plcp
  15. That's the other kind of 'hybrid'. A normal petrol engined car with an electric 'booster' motor too. A complete waste of time and as everyone knows, NO WHERE near as economical as claimed. Nope, a proper full electric car with a diesel generator is far more realistic and achievable in the short term. Full electric only is waaaaaaaay off in the future as the battery technology just doesn't exist at the moment. Fla, yep, there's no replacement for displacement, but with Brussels squeezing all the car makers' balls at the moment, they're all having to be seen to make an effort in reducing emissions. But it's not all bad. New M5. V8 turbo and is quicker and lighter than the outgoing V10.
  16. Might have. Let me check my "VAG spares box" tonight. How does £58.65 each plus postage sound if I've got them? Seems about right by ebay standards
  17. LOL, £20 (inc postage) for something that's worth pennies. Right, that effin does it. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay chaps for a lot of overpriced Corrado parts. If chunts like him can ask 20 quid for those, then I'm going to ask £100 for my red VR6 grille badge for starters.....
  18. They seem to be jumping straight to full electric without first trying an electric hybrid, i.e. a small diesel engine to power an alternator to recharged the batteries. Would probably only need to be a little 3 cylinder job. 150+mpg potential? Makes sense to me. Fewer batteries required, more passenger space and massive range between fill ups.
  19. Hmmmm, I'm rather taken by the 920 at the moment and a decent camera is certainly helping my decision :D
  20. Electric is a long way off being a viable replacement for internal combustion. It's no coincidence piston engines have stubbornly refused to die in peace. There just isn't anything better at the moment! Small 4 cyl turbos with 40+ cruise MPG is the immediate future..... and you'll see a switch from diesel back to petrol again ;)

Are the seat bolsters worn? - Not even close What is the ride and handling like with the KW V3s? - Superb Does the ABS work? - Perfectly The sales pitch:- Quite a notorious car on here and has had pretty much everything done to it over the years but only for functional / performance reasons. I've driven loads of Corrados over the years and this is one of the best. I'm not saying that out of bias, it just is :-) It drives superbly and has very few interior squeaks and rattles. Everything works as it should and feels far more solid and planted than it's mileage would suggest. In it's current incarnation, the R32 has given it every day usable performance with surprising economy. I average 32mpg and I know I've seen 35-37 if driven sedately. i.e. sticking to the speed limits and changing up early. And bearing in mind that economy is factoring in the busier motorway cruising speed because of the shorter final drive. Reason for sale:- I've had it nearly 9 years and I fancy a new project. I've developed it as far as my time and funds will allow, so it's time for a new owner to take the reigns :-) I hate to think of the £1000s I've sunk into this car, but trust me on this, my loss is most definitely someone else's gain here ;-) It's probably worth the asking price in parts alone, but I can't be bothered to break it. Yes it has a high mileage and the MOT is short, but I won't be entertaining daft offers. It's one of the most sorted Corrados around and I think the price is very fair considering the investment and time it's had put into it. But I have also taken into consideraton it's mileage and the fact the paint isn't as perfect as I'd like. The pictures:- Engine bay. LOADS more pictures of the car in my gallery thread. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51387-Kevhaywire-s-Corrado-R32 A video:- Here it is being mapped by Stealth in September 12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjG4OB72alU&feature=plcp Any more questions etc, please PM me.
