  1. It depends if they can get the 5 pot RS3/TTRS engine through the next batch of emissions. Most car makers are moving to 4 pot turbos these days. A Quattro with a 4 cylinder engine is just wrong. You've got about as much chance as that as erm, winning the lottery, so no!
  2. Have a read of the 9 page "Annoying off throttle jerk" thread. It's related :D
  3. Lost  No actually I don't mind the 'Apple maps'. I used it on Friday for 2 hours and it was brilliant, despite not having the siri voice over. I could cook an egg on the phone afterwards though! It's just the wrecked app store and a few other annoying bits about IOS 6 that's making me want to go back to 5. The battery life has taken a big clobbering too. Cheers Mr UseOnceDestroy for the info!
  4. Only if you want more noise / vibration than a VT and no additional benefits :D
  5. I don't suppose it's possible to bin IOS 6 and go back to 5 is it?
  6. Take it as a compliment you miserable *******
  7. Vibratechnics (£74) is the only option really. Poly - tried, hated it. OE rubber - don't last. GSF rubber - Don't even go there. Then again, my engines put down a lot more power than the platform was originally designed for, so I have to accept a bit of collateral damage, but for a standard engine, I'd still go VT personally.....and live with the noise / vibration. The other benefits make up for it.
  8. Surprisingly rot free under there! Nice one :D
  9. As a guess..... it'll need cutting out! Some of the seams are fairly obvious, such as around the rear lights, behind the bumper and under the roof gutter strip. The less obvious ones are the B pillar, arches (double skinned) and the sills.
  10. Yeah that's it! There's a choice of bonded rubber (which soon becomes unbonded :D ) or the fluid filled one. There's never been a diesel specific one that I'm aware of. And I think as you say, the fluid one is discontinued now. And good job as it was rubbish!!
  11. £744 a year for a load of cr&p TV? Wowzers!! I'd rather spend £62 a month cheap Blurays from Amazon :D
  12. /\ There's no such thing. All MK2/MK3/Corrado gearbox mounts are the same. I tried a "MK2 diesel mount" from GSF and it was utter garbage. Hardly a surpise given it was £13 I suppose. Tried to get one from the dealer but they list the same part for all MK2s/MK3s/Corrados etc and it was £60 odd. That lasted 9 months. The GSF one lasted less than 1 month.
  13. £350!! Is that how much it costs?!? Jesus. Thought it was a tenner a month or something!! :D
  14. Definitely not the competition one! I've used it before and although the gear shift is epic (even under full bore acceleration), the vibration and noise were too much for a daily.
  15. Yeah I've had it on the ramp to look into that possibility because the O2J in the Polo GTI has a dog bone mount, but there's no where to bolt a bracket onto the VR6 02A. Yep, the standard mount barely copes with a standard VR6 engine. The ultra snappy and torquey R32 just eats the mount in no time. The VT is up to the job, but as you say, a Dog bone would be a lot better. It's probably possible with a lot of custom work but as winter is approaching, I'll take the easy option :D
  16. Found the cause of my Jerk chicken..... a totally and utterly f'cked gearbox mount. A solid rubber VAG one too, which has only lasted about 9 months. It looked fine from above when wobbling the engine about, but a long pry bar from underneath revealed a different story. The whole gearbox lifted up a good 2" easily on the bar. So, back to Vibratechnics then. I really don't want to, but I'd rather have a bit more noise / vibration than this really bad jerking.
  17. Then it's a leak before the cat. So could be downpipe gaskets, manifold to head gaskets or a cracked manifold. Exhaust gases are denser when the engine is cold, so make a louder blowing noise. Stick your head under the bonnet next time you start it from cold and see if you can hear / smell where it's coming from.
  18. Does the exhaust smell catalysed or not? Should give you a clue as to how far along the car you need to search for the leak.
  19. Good question. I always knew there was a subtle profile difference between estate and saloon, but didn't know the p/ns were different.
  20. If you want reassurance on the pedal from cold and hot, the dealer MK4 GTI pads on either GSF Brembo (plain) or dealer discs works very well indeed. The pads are only 40 quid too. Coming from AP 330mm 4 pots and evil Pagid Grey racing pads, they're actually a good setup for the road with modest power.
  21. Yup! It's happened twice to me with a Corrado roof and now a Passat one. Same schitty mechanism!
  22. Be warned with these Passat roofs. The cables snap just as easily and just as frequently as the Corrado's.
  23. Part number is: 321877209A The best way to fit the seal is glue the two ends together on one short side of the panel (otherwise they will pull apart leaving a gap), then lube the rest of the seal with fairy liquid and it goes on dead easy :D The fairy liquid will disperse when the car is washed or rained on.
