  1. Except that some MK3 Golf ones are 3 bar. Corrado needs 4 bar. VW have recently changed the pump to a VDO one I believe. Used to be bosch. I enquired about 6 months ago and it was around £200!
  2. The schrick only affects the torque. Peak power will probably be the same with the standard inlet. If you call Vince with your reg plate, he'll look it up on his computer :D
  3. Nice metaphor :D Was it really that hard? Probably why it corners so well!
  4. Just trying to download IOS6. 2 hours to do approx 30% so far  One good thing about Apple IOS I suppose: it works on all phones. Current and old. I think Android software is model specific? Icecream sandwich, Blueberry pie and all that nonsense. It's Apple's 40th birthday in 2016 and to celebrate, it's rumoured they are cooking up something very special indeed. Here's an early sneak peek:
  5. I don't know if the glass panel is different, but one thing that became apparent when replacing the seal on the steel roof is it's a lot easier if you warm it up first. Then it needs to be stretched before being tapped onto the panel.
  6. I've tried the Continental winter tyre on my Corrado, TS-8000 I think it was, and they're very impressive. Not sure how they compare to others as they're the first I've used, but I was chuffed with them :D Have to agree with Coullstar on the 1 series, but only in the case of the 1 M series. That does look good tbh.
  7. Yeah they looked 280 kind of size. I remember checking them because I was shocked how sharp they were, but was equally shocked to see they weren't 288s!! Kind of looked like 1.6 base model kind of size!! AFAIK, it was only the 1.8T GTI that got 288s, but I could be wrong....
  8. You might want to double check but the last 2.0 8V MK4 GTI I drove (circa 2000 vintage) didn't have 288s. They were weedy little brakes. But still sharper than a Corrado's!!
  9. Did Stealth not provide a dyno plot when they mapped it, or did you buy the car with these mods already done? With 268 cams and a BMC, probably looking at 210ish hp.
  10. Now you're talking! They made the block shorter to fit transversely in the TT / RS3, so hopefully it will fit in a Corrado too.
  11. No torque below 4000rpm isn't 'accessible' power imo and ITBs on the VR6 is neither cheap or easy to implement. They would certainly help push the power past 250 though.
  12. Sounds to me like a bit of creative dyno calculation :D
  13. As an afterthought, you could also drill and tap the hole out to take a bigger bolt in situ ;)
  14. 350hp!! 250 you mean? :D Big valve heads and cams IIRC. Anything is possible with the right amount of cash but revving it past 7000 might also make more power with the right cams.
  15. For easy, accessible normally aspirated power, an R32 conversion is the way to go. Just make sure you get everything from the same donor car and you'll be fine! If you want power from a 12V, forced induction is the only way but if you want it reliable, it'll cost you!!
  16. /\ exactly. Anything that's subjective can't be defined as the 'best'. As someone mentioned previously, XX millions of iPhone users can't all be wrong. And 2 million IP5 pre-orders already, despite the fact it's not what people hoped for? That requires a lot more analysis than simply calling people sheep. Personally I'm done with iPhones but I still rate the hardware. It really is the Bang & Olufsen of the phone world. No other handset comes close to it's quality feel and robustness imo. Anything can be broken though, especially fragile smartphones, but iPhones in my experience can withstand a lot of abuse.
  17. 4 Mo uses a 6 rib belt, VR6 uses a 7 rib. I guess that's the major difference. The minor difference will be the specific tension applied to the belt, which may be more or less than the 12V. I can't say for sure. If you can unbolt the pulley from the from 12V tensioner and attach it to 4 motion tensioner, that ought to work. Safest way to remove the 12V tensioner without releasing the tension first? Hmmm, you could try undoing the 2 forward most bolts, then the rear one last and let it hinge down. If that doesn't release enough tension, I would just cut the belt personally. Not worth risking something twanging into your face!
  18. IOS 4 & 5 suffer from memory leaks. I think you can get an app that tells you what's running in the background and how much memory is being consumed. And to add more fuel to the hate campaign, Apple still refuse to allow Safari to render flash web pages, which can also cause random website closures. Sometimes a factory restore can solve little niggles like this, but not always. Let's just hope IOS 6 addresses some of the general performance issues, but I doubt it.
  19. If you mean the leather hand grip, yep, classic parts. The triangular plastic peice and a plastic handgrip (MK2) are still available from the dealers.
  20. It's mainly the flow through the head and poor squish chamber that's the problem with the 12V.
  21. Must admit, the MK6 is growing on me. I'm surprised to hear the torque isn't immediate though. I always found the MK5 engine to be very responsive indeed :D Although I understand the MK6 has gone to a different engine (Yamaha designed / derived apparently?) which might explain the change in character.
  22. "Cushty" Haven't heard that word since watching Del boy all those years ago :D Appreciate the offer chap but pedal already ordered and I'm up to Stealth on Friday, so it'll all get sorted this week one way or another, or I'm gonna break the car for spares. Getting a tad bored all this now tbh!
  23. There's a white GTR with gunmetal wheels parked up in the new apartment blocks where my missus lives. Looks very tasty indeed :D Just sat there amidst corsas and focuses :D Bluefin: same old same old to be honest mate. They all just whack the requsted boost pressure up.
