  1. I've also got a Concept 300 and it never goes off falsely but it's operation is very erratic. Sometimes chirps when armed, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes unlocks the doors and other times it won't. I rarely use the alarm to be honest, just the immobiliser. I think I need a new brain for it but it can be 'serviced' for £50 by any authorised Cliffy fitter. One thing that can cause false alarms is the boot light. The corrado boot light switches are prone to sticking on, which will be seen as a current draw by the clifford ECU. Kev

    Funny Noise...

That's scary! Lucky you noticed it before the unthinkable happened. Didn't Mike Edwards have a wheel fall off his VR6? Wheel bolts are often overlooked. Whilst cleaning my car one weekend, I noticed the rear nearside wheel was missing a bolt altogether and the front offside wheel had a missing locking bolt and a loose main bolt :? Where do these bolts end up? Embedded in someone's radiator??? If you ever get stuck in traffic on a motorway, have a look in the hard shoulder stones, you'll be surprised by the amount of bits that fall off cars and trucks! K
  3. I agree, the C is a good looking car, period. Nothing to do with changing times and all that. Some cars are just timeless beauties, irrelevant of conception date....E Type Jaguar, Porsche 911 (disagree with you there Dan), BMW E30 M3 etc etc What ever the VW engineers were smoking when they designed the C, they should ruddy well roll up some more..... K
  4. Go on....stick a turba on it boy....you know it makes sense  The VR isn't slow...it's just not as quick as a boosted 20V T. It's only got 190 brake don't forget and if your cam sensor is dead, you've only got 165-170 brake. K
  5. I also love the heaters as they are piping hot so I can smoke with the window open and not freeze to death!
  6. CCGB is great...I get 10% discount from my dealer and I'm not even a member! That's not me taking the pee, my dealer is just generous and doesn't ask for proof of membership  I really must join up....is the old site still online so I get an application form? Kev

    Optimum fuel

Mobil 1 15/50W doesn't cause leaks in VW engines....used to use it in my 16V Turbo. It's great oil, just expensive. Optimax......yeah it's good stuff. Regular use of it will clean up your valves too, which is always a bonus  Kev
  8. Think yourselves lucky....I found a bill in my history for a £500 radiator change! K
  9. Difficult gear engagment is indicative of a maladjusted gear linkage....or...a clutch that's on it's way out. Sometimes the friction disc sticks to the splined gearbox input shaft, so doesn't disengage fully. Try pumping the clutch pedal and you should find the gear will engage. I would advise against engaging first when the car is moving anyway. VW gearboxes don't like it. Something to do with the layshaft spinning at a different speed to the gearshaft, so the sycnro cones struggle to mesh properly...or some cobblers like that anyway! This is why rear wheel drive cars need heel-and-toeing when changing down at speed to stop the rear wheels locking up. K

Defo offside wheel bearing. They thrum when loaded up, i.e. going round bends. Kev

    Headlamp Trim

Yeah they just unclip. You may need to code the grille too to even things off, just my opinion. Kev
  12. That's not mine. Mine's got central heating and a chest freezer..... K
  13. Thankfully the Corrado looks nothing like a Delorean. The Delorean looks like an Austin Princess on Steroids. K
  14. My car came with black OE 'Corrado' mats (the ones that clip to the floor) and they're still in excellent shape. No appreciable wear to speak of. I wouldn't normally bother with mats but as they came with the car....... K
  15. Love: Low slung coupe styling Perfect driving position Seats VR6 smoothness and exhaust note 15 Gallon tank Refinement Hate: Cheap and fragile facia components VR6 engine electronics Sunroof Tail lights Exposed scuttle Door handles Insurance K
  16. Ah, I'm sure the stuff I used was mega thin and full synth. I think it was the Silver coloured container? Normal helix is the yellow container isn't it?
  17. I think what that Top Gear bloke said about it was on the right track.....it was a sales flop because it was too expensive but it still has the right ingredients to make it desirable......today. And like he also said, corrados are quick.....today. My own personal feeling on the C is the handling and looks (except the ugly tail lamps) are excellent. Never a dull drive in a Corrado but the rest of the car is so-so. The engines are excellent when running right, a pain in the butt when they're not. The seats are fabulous, the rest of the interior, cr@p. So the C is a bit of a liquorice allsort of good bits and bad bits but as a complete package (accepting the rough with the smooth), it's unbeatable at the price. K
  18. You come across as having lost a fiver and found 5 pence when it comes to comparing your CRX to your Corrado  K
  19. I really like the Bridgestone RE720s. Excellent value and just as grippy as the F1. K
  20. I used to use Helix in my 16V turbo....it was a bit thin for that particular engine but might try some in the VR if it's not using any  What viscosity is it....can't remember....I think it was something like 5/30W? K

    Door locks

Ah thanks for that, I do have a B key aswell in that case, it's just a naked metal one without it's rubber coat  K
  22. Same here, my plastic covers are fine, just the rubber/felty edge bits are discoloured and peeling away from the roof. I'm guessing the rubber edges are integral with the mouldings?! K

    Door locks

What are A and B keys? My car came with one VW marked key and a plain unmarked key. Are these A & B per chance? Both keys seem to operate all 3 locks although the tailgate lock is a bit jammed up as it only turns about half way round :? I did the lock change thing on my MK2 Golf. Cost over £100 to do though, including a new 16V torch key light. I had to get a new ignition barrel (easier to change than it sounds) and 3 new locks made up to match the igntion key. It was actually very worthwhile, nice new smooth locks and only 1 key on the keyring, instead of 3! Kev
  24. On the back of each light is a white plastic knob, which you turn to adjust the height. K
  25. I thought the rattle we were discussing occurs when the window is partially or half open? In which case the guide inside the door would stop the glass rocking? I dunno....I'm not going to argue about it. I've fitted the seals properly and looked in the door for anything missing or loose. Seems OK in there. I'll wait until spring and have another go at it.
