  1. Yep. Like Mr Ralph Lauren Golf clothes man  Ralphy pants, trousers, polo shirt, pull over, socks and shoes. A grand's worth just to whack a ball in the air.
  2. I don't know what engine the DP ecu comes from originally but it's clearly expecting to see the MK4 cam trigger wheels! I can't tell if the CD runs differently yet as I've got no accelerator! But it idles slower (600-640rpm instead of 680-720rpm) and a little steadier / smoother.
  3. I'm glad you're enjoying it mate. There's just something about BMWs isn't there? Even the old ones!! I think it's just their combination of superb build quality & driving dynamics.
  4. The most power I've seen from a 12V normally aspirated VR6 is ~ 250hp, and that engine used a super rare ABT stroker crank to take the capacity out to 3.1 litre. It had everything. Big valve head, cams, VGI intake etc etc, the lot! Forced induction is the only way to get decent hp from a 12V :D
  5. Haha, had it 5 minutes and want more power already :D Glad you went with the 3 series and not the ghastly and over priced 1 series!
  6. You do have a point there. I've had iPhones for 4 years but I only learned this weekend the full extent of it's super locked down behaviour. Take it's Bluetooth for example. It only works with handsfree devices! You can't use it to copy contacts over from a different make of phone. It doesn't even work iphone to iphone. What an absolute crock of schitt. I can't believe Apple seriously expect people to manually type in 100s of contacts into an iPhone? And then the missus wanted to copy a picture from her laptop to her iphone to use as wallpaper. Can you do that? Nope. You get a nice "Apple says: F'ck you end user scum" no entry sign when attempting to drag / drop files to the iPhone. So yes, Apple have lost my business as far as their phones go I'm afraid.
  7. Does anyone understand T Mobile bills? The missus finally got her phone on Friday and also a letter asking for £49.40? She's on the 'full monty' tariff. £26 month, 2000 mins, unlimited text & data. I'm equally confused by it. Like her, I thought you just pay £29.99 for the handset then £26 a month from the day you take the contract but they put all sorts of confusing stuff on the bill, such as "outside of plan charges". She only just got the phone, so how can there be any charges??! T mobile were slack, rude and unhelpful. She's more patient than me. I'd have told them to shove it. Not only that, her IP4 rings straight to a (dead) number when you go into Voicemail. Should we try a factory reset?
  8. OK, so I put the MK5 R32 ECU in (022 906 032 CD) in place of the one I had (022 906 032 DP) and the cam errors have gone, which is a relief as it saved me wasting half a day checking the cam timing. I now have the same issue Fanjita had in that the ECY doesn't like 4Motion pedal, so I have to buy and R32 one. It seems the CD ECU needs a specific pedal. Heresites had the same problem with his too.
  9. Thanks mate, that would be great if you could. Not going to Players but if you could hang onto it for me, that'd be great!
  10. VR6s just have a dead pedal anyway, regardless of what uprated brakes you fit. Some folk report an improvement by retrofitting the MK3 ABS system (no rear proportioning valve) and / or removing the ABS altogether. The best upgrade would be the MK4 24mm MC / pedal and servo, but no one's done it yet. Reason being is the pedal itself is a poor design. The fulcrum point for the MC is too high up the pedal, so offers little leverage. To feel the difference, get in a MK4 with the same 288s and stab the brake pedal, you'll head butt the windscreen.
  11. /\ Poo pants. O2 did *everything* over the web chat for me :D

    gearboxes ?

MK2 is 020 cable clutch. All Corrados are 02A hydraulic clutch, so no, not really :D
  13. No arguments re Vodafone from me!! Been chatting to some Apple fanboys around the office today and they're all extremely underwhelmed by the iPhone 5. Let's see what the Lumia 920 is like. Could be a viable alternative if it's any good!
  14. I whole heartedly agree on that. When I first got my VR6, I thought the brakes were f'cked they were that bad  I've done a few brake upgrades over the years, and here are my findings: Uprated 280 discs and pads - You'd be better off standing over a drain cover and emptying the contents of your wallet into it. 280 > 288s - Much much better. Well worth it. OEM MK4 GTI pads work great and only cost 40 quid. 288 > 312 - Not as big a performance hike as 280 > 288, but stronger slowing from high speeds. 312 > AP Racing 330mm 4 pots - Absolutely incredible brakes, but cost £1300 :-( Currently I'm on 288s with OEM pads as the turbo motor has gone, but even with R32 power, I'm finding them OK. I would like stronger but I want to stay on 15s.
  15. And no service round mine either :D I'd rather pay more and get more thanks :D
  16. That's who my missus was with. They wouldn't give her a PAC code to port her number across to T Mobile and cut her off 2 days early. Utter wayne kerrs.
  17. That's the one Fanjita, cheers mate :D OK, well having seen the iPhone 5, I am sticking with my iPhone 4!! I did however get myself off my expensive O2 35 iPhone tariff last night (£35 month, 600 mins, some texts, 500mb data) and onto their On & On for £20 a month. Unlimited calls and texts, 1GB and I can upgrade after 6 months. So more for a lot less! Yes I agree Mr 3 courses of Corsa. I was staring at the Vodafone, O2, Orange and T mobile tariffs for ages last night trying to make sense of it all. Orange have the best coverage and they have 3G where I live, but they are expensive. I did want to go with them as they have 4G and you can jack onto T Mobile's network too, but to be fair, you can only get it in selected cities only. So I reckon it will be a good few years yet before the the whole country gets it. Makes me laugh. 80 countries have 4G already, but not us. It's pathetic. We are supposed to be the financial centre of the globe and be bang up to date. T Mobile are cheap, but have no coverage and their service is appalling. They've been fobbing my missus off since Aug 31 when she ordered her iPhone 4, so she's currently phone less as her old contract expired last week. Vodafone have little coverage and expensive O2 seemed to be the winners for me. To be fair, I've never had a single problem with them. I've been with all 4 networks over the years and they've been the best by far.
  18. I've driven 4 different Corrado 24Vs (2 x R32 and 2 x 2.8 24V) and they have the off throttle jerk too. It's worse the lower gear you're in because of drivetrain shunt. i.e. in 4th and 5th it's no where near as bad as the gearing is taller, which smooths it out. It shouldn't be really harsh, but engine mounts can affect it, as can the ECU's happiness with the sensors. Any fault codes in VAG-COM? Not that OBD1 tells you a lot! Idle valve OK?
  19. The snippets of information you furnish the forum with Yan never cease to amaze me :D
  20. Cheers for that. Yeah yours are all the same angle and completely different to mine! I think mine might be Audi ones but 3 of them are angled differently to make sure all 6 sit flush with the intake runners. I think yours might look a bit odd on my engine tbh, so I'll hang onto them for now! Thanks anyway :D
  21. That'll be me then! My itunes library is nearly 3TB, so I've kind of entwined myself into Apple world really!! Doesn't mean I have to use an iPhone though. I can downgrade to an iPod and still get a Lumia or S3 or something :D One question though, are the apps available for the iPhone also available for Android? I've got a remote control app for my Yamaha AV amp and if that's available on other phones, then the iPhone could be history :D
  22. It's looking that way isn't it. If the only difference between the IP5 and the 4 is a slightly bigger screen and faster processing, they've lost my business. Only thing is, I don't really want the paving slab sized S3 either.
  23. Bridge fan speed 3 with the engine running! That will show up a weak battery :D
  24. Yeah the big mother of a fuse that's screwed down is for the fan motor. The way it works is speed 3 is the motor's natural speed, but speeds 1 and 2 are 'slowed down' by the controller box and / or some resistors or something. Speed 3 = Black sender in thermostat housing. This one is usually a good one to bridge with a switch on the dash. Speed 2 = Thin red/black wire in radiator sender. Speed 1 = Thicker red/white wire in radiator sender. Speed 1 works with the ignition off along with the After run pump. Speed 2 I believe is ignition only and speed 3 is definitely ignition only! Maybe it's just the sender in your radiator that's borked? They do let go from time to time.
  25. The fans on the VR6 are controlled autonomously by the big black box next to the coolant tank. Have a look at that. There are 3 fuses under the plastic flip up lid. One for the after run water pump, a big 50A one for the fans and another one I can't remember.
