  1. This is how they will look in the dark with the lights on the blue and red will be illuminated DD Did you mean to include a picture with that post? If they're the same as the top set in you avatar then that's exactly what I'm after :) I PM'd you a while back, please count me in.
  2. That would explain why I haven't seen it for a while! If your reading this Bananaman, love your car mate :D
  3. Are you able to confirm what style they're going to be yet? I'd really love a set with the red/blue illumination.
  4. Yellow G60 in East Grinstead driving past the Broadway pub onto the one-way system, saw it on both Friday and Saturday night at about 8:45. I'd love to know who's car this is as I seen it off and on for the last year or so and it was probably the biggest influence in me buying a Corrado.
  5. Mine a daily driver too, but thankfully it's only 10 miles to work so I can keep the milage down. My Ghia is the weekend car (when it's sunny), I'm not sure where the Type 3 Notch will fit in when I finally get it back on the road.
  6. I also PM'd him a while back but got no response. :(
  7. I was there on Sunday (with my Ghia) and was disappointed to see only one Corrado (a black 16v) in the show'n'shine. I was hoping to speak to the owner but the only time I saw him near the car was whilst the show'n'shine presentation was going on (and I had to stick around to pick up my trophy :D). Was it anyone from here?

I'm actually quite happy with the quality and fit, plus it's nice to have the proper 'Corrado' emblem on them. It's a shame that the drivers side has no heel pad but I'll probably get my local trimmer to sort that out. So for £43 I'm happy, but like you say, £70 would have been a different story.
  9. The good thing about Adrian Flux is that they always guarantee to beat a cheaper quote, so you know that you'll always end up with the cheapest quote without having the hassle of changing insurance companies. I always use Bell Direct for the 'competitive quote' (not only are they cheap but they also do on-line quotes for modified cars). I got my premium down from £680 to £420 recently without even having to phone around. :)

I went down my local stealers on Saturday (to pick up a 50mm spoiler and black VW badge) and asked about the mats, the guy confirmed that they were £49 + vat and said that they had a set in their old stock warehouse and offered them to me at 25% off. So the other day I was bidding £70 on eBay and now I've got a set from the stealers for £43 :D I'll admit that the thought did go through my mind to put them on eBay, but I resisted.

Were they trying to make it look like an Alfa??

I've always thought that Momo Arrow alloys suit the Corrado. I don't believe that you can buy them new anymore and I've had a search on eBay for ages but they hardly ever seem to come up.

At the time I didn't know that you could still get them from the stealers, so I'm glad that I stopped bidding. :D They had a £60 reserve so either the guy who was selling them didn't know either, or he was hoping that people would assume that they're not available any more (like I almost did).

I've just had a look on their website and the Autostyle mats do look good, I particularly like the fact that they're leather bound rather than the ones from JustMatz which are are bound with thread. I wonder how close the Navy or Royal edging is to Aqua Blue Pearl?? If it's not a close match then it will probably look pants and so black edging would probably be better. I'm tempted with an alloy heel plate as well but I think that it might be a bit too OTT.
  17. kevhaywire, Are the ones from GPC geniune VAG parts?

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a good set of floor mats? I'm looking for some black velour ones but I want quality. I was bidding on some new geniune VW ones on eBay but bottled out when the price went over £70. Do VW stealers still sell them? Any advice would be appreciated as always.
  19. Imberhorne is down the other end of the town, and neither matched your car, so there must have been 4 Corrados in East Grinstead yesterday :)
  20. Haven't seen another Corrado for weeks and saw 2 today within half a mile of each other, both parked though. One in the Imberhorne Lane car park in East Grinstead and a black VR6 in the Birches ind estate just around the corner.
  21. Had the Air-Con sorted today, and you were all right, it needed re-gassing. The've put some dye in with the gas just in case there is a leak. When they tested it the temperature was 2.6 deg C, man that's cold. Thanks again for your help.
  22. Interested, tell me more... condition, age etc?
  23. I'm thinking of buying some red and clear rear light clusters, does anyone have any recommendations on which make to go for? europerformance.co.uk have FK lights for £165 and MHW lights for £275 (unfortunately no pictures of either), I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for but what will the extra £110 get me?
  24. A polishing mop will speed up the final polishing and you'll be able to get a better finish, but if it's just the outer rims that need doing then you should be able do a good job by hand. The secret is to polish it lightly but often, and in different directions each time. If you can remove the existing lacquer with paint stripper then polishing the rim should be fairly easy (assuming the aluminium is not marked), just make sure you keep the paint stripper away from the rest of the wheel or else you'll end up doing the whole thing. As MoonlightVR said, 600 grade wet and dry is a good starting point, although if you need to remove marks from the aluminium then you may need to use a slightly coarser grade in localised areas, make sure that you use it with plenty of water. Get yourself a selection of grades and finish with 1200. For final polishing I'd recommend Autosol metal polish (available from most good car accessory shops, and Halfords). Frost do sell lacquer for polished aluminium, I bought some a while ago because I thought that it would come in useful but I've not tried it yet so I don't know how good it is.
  25. Thanks for the advice guys. Would you say that it's better to go to a Air-Con specialist rather than a VW specialist?
