  1. Not really, as long as the wheels are straight. I skimmed the lips on mine at work to get rid of the curbing and I need to get a small blob of alloy welded into a small dip there but apart from that, thats it. Get yourself some good quality steel brush attachments and a scurfing wheel (one of those black plastic-looking ones from Wickes) and this will help remove any old paint, corrosion and lacquer. It takes time so make sure your drill is up to it. And dont expect to finish it all in a day. The final polishing takes a while too. Let me know how you get on. All the best.
  2. in a nutshell, strip tehm down with Nitromors, get a buffing kit from Frosts and buff them up. You'll need to get different buffing wheels (a rough and 2 smoother ones) plus the right wax (grey, green and blue - to be used in that order) and then its a question of time. Strip them down and get polishing!! And there's no short cut i'm afraid. I've done two out of my 4 wheels but it is very satisgying when you see the polished results you've done yourself - just ask A20Lee 8)

    VR6 Engine Cut Out

Yes, check the ecu relay 109. Its only £12 from the stealers and worth it just to eliminate it . Also, remove the fuel pump relay (167 iirc) and pulse it directly with a 12V supply and see it opens and closes circuit cleanly. Spray some contact cleaner on it, leave to dry properly and then spray the spade connections of both relays before reseating them a few times. See how you go from there.
  4. You can get a polish called Belgom which does a good job of protecting polished metal. It lasts up to about 6 weeks before it needs redoing. Plus if you lacquer the rims it takes off the shine and if it chips and the alloy corrodes underneath you will need to remove the whole lot to get a proper finish again. I've almost finished stripping down and polishing my tt comps and have used a few coats of Belgom on the completed wheels.
  5. Cheers for that Dinks. Had a look on that site but there are no pics of the door cards, just the dash, which does look impressive. Maybe on the Canadian CC site.
  6. Does anyone have the original images of the dash for the first post - iirc it included images of a fair amount on the cabin? Cheers
  7. jam3383, did you get my pm?
  8. Mmm, now TWO Cs parked up just off Tolpits Lane Watford - a black VR next to a silver valver, last weekend, btw.
  9. I've also replaced my aerial with a shorter 2-piece unit (like VR6s one). Strangely all i did was to replace the old unit with this one and the reception is very poor, whilst the old Sonys was great. Thats why I'm surprised that the miniamp would be having problems. Cant pick up AM at all, well just about, but everything is overshadowed by whistling and noise.
  10. I've just installed a Pioneer head unit into my car - plug and play. Problem is that it wont store any of the set stations, so as soon as you turn the power off its back to square one. How do you get around that one? Oh, and the radio reception is totally crap - in fact the old Sony was FAR better. Any ideas, suggestions? Cheers
  11. I met Dipesh once - quiet lad, knows his stuff and their garage is good too. PLus its just down the road from my office. Also try Custom Werks in Hayes - Aman, top guy and very helpful. Blinky16v, whereabouts are you based?
  12. Unique looks, understated performance, subtle head-turner. I saw a 2.0 in 97 (never really noticed them before then tbh) in Oxford and decied that this was definitely a car for me. Its not something i will want to get rid of quick, inless I really need some cash. Even tho a lot of newer cars may be faster, handle better and may be more efficient theres something about the rarity of the C i love. Same reason why i like the E31 (8 series beamer).
  13. Asim, Salaams. Glad you're pleased with the car - hope it really is the dream most of us consider it to be. You must have a damn good job to afford a motor like that tho' .. Anyway, enjoy, and all the best.
  14. Kev, I take it you would recommend FKs over Inpros then?
  15. Glad someone with aircon has posted up pics of their install. My mocal is still sitting in its box 8 months on as I couldnt work out a decent enough place to site it. Do you have any more shots of the pipework ardandy, ?
  16. That first one looks quite impressive and for 20,000 euros. Not bad.
  17. yes quite straightforward - there is a round green filter as well as green leds used. Simply trace around the filters with some red lighting gel and replace the green leds with red ones, or even white ones if you wish. I'd thought about that too but decided against it in the end.
  18. i think if i had it that is part with 10k for A20 LEE quite easy or 24v Renshaws both hot rados Agreed, plus a few others on the forum too.
  19. Is there an improvement in the quality of the spray dispersion?
  20. OK cheers jenks, look forward to the pics. Can the paint be applied by brush or will it look terrible, only i've got a tin of paint form the body shop, used on my bumpers?
  21. I've just stripped down my tt comps and before polishing I want to see what they would look like if i painted the sides of the spokes to match the body (my C is LC5U). Can anyone do a chopped pic of that at all? TIA
  22. Stunning. Waiting for some installed pics now, prob like the rest of us.
  23. Someone on the forum was getting some replacement Audi-style handles recently (about £30 from ebay iirc)? Cant remember your name but could you post up some pics of your result if they're fitted?
  24. Is there any way of removing some of the waxoyl on the black plastics and vertical panels? Also, around my battery plate the waxoyl seems to have entrained some grit so it looks just terrible. I'm loathe to remove it as it is a flat area which could then corrode.
