  1. How many rolls did you need in total - i'll be picking some up tomorrow evening hopefully.
  2. RW1, never fail to come up with the goods, good stuff as usual :)
  3. Why do you want to remove the strips? You're referring to the ones under the door I presume, which you dont see anyway?
  4. Henny, I'll hold you to that mate! Loads of pics, OK?
  5. I'm changing the colours on my headlight switch and in an attempt to remove the green paint on the bulb that illuminates the ring the bulb wires have broken off. Great :( . Anyone know where they should be soldered back on (ie which plates in the switch)? Better still which way round should an led go? I've got a 5mm led for the large central illumination but the surrounding ring has a painted green bulb. Not sure if the angle of illumonation of an led will be sufficient to disperse across the transparent ring though. Oh and its a 94 VR, but i think the light switches are all the same. Thanks
  6. Is it worth just removing it altogether, or would that look weird? Anyone done that at all?
  7. Come on, someone must have a good idea about this?????????
  8. Ahhh, of course, used this method sooooooooooo many times elsewhere, just a bit to dim to think of that now  Cheers 2cc.
  9. I've started removing the screws holding the black plastic trim opn and there is one that's pretty much inaccessible as its right behind the mechanism. Any ideas of how to remove it short of removing all of the hardware from the back? - need to remove it for painting. Thanks all.
  10. Just an update on this, simple mod - remove the connector, push the pipe down a few cm and push the connecotr back home. Voila, no more spoiling those wires, AND you can remove the connector more easily. :)
  11. andy, I should have mine in Cu pipe done this week but let me know how you progress with the steel ones - i'd be interested in that just in case the Cu turns out to be crap.
  12. Blimey, thats pretty damn quick. I've just started cutting one form Cu pipe and its damn fiddly (thanks 2CC it'll be posted back this week I hope!!!). I'm only cutting the one side and i cant get the long slot cut through to allow the lead to sit inside the tool  Any hints?
  13. Hang in there mate - you'd be surprised where opportunities arise from. Chat to mates - they often know who is looking for a new recruit in their company, but don't consciously think of you. Make them aware you're on the lookout.
  14. logicaltuning, ? Did you use just a single layer of the B&Q stuff all over? And where exactly did you put it on the tunnel area? Pics would be useful.
  15. Solitaire, sounds interesting. Let me know what you find out...
  16. Storm (Rik) has done it and it doesnt seem too much problem, only really need a few special tools and a few days and of course GOOD WEATHER, lol. Wiring atc seems a bit fiddly though and electrics are not really my fave part of the car anyway.
  17. Maybe not now but they'll get there pretty quick, for minters at any rate.
  18. OK TPS as Kev says is on the side of the throttle body. Wheres the throttle body, well about left of centre from the back of the engine bay where you should be able to see a cable running towards the ground. That the cam that actually move the buttergly in the throttle. The TPS is a black rectangular box on the body to the left of the cable. It has a three wire connector running to it. Hope that hasnt confused you more!!!!
  19. Have you changed the tranny fluid and filter yet? Also, get a pressure test done via the diagnostics port on the top of the box (its the round connector), which should give some idea of teh problem. I think someone mentioned that an autoshop can change & check the gears via the diagnostics - if that is possible give it a try and let me know too!!! HTH
  20. I think there's a way to remove dents by rubbing the door skin on the inside with something like a wire threaded steel ball (cant think of a better way to describe it). Its a bit tedious but does it quite evenly. I'm going to have a go at it sometime myself as my drivers door is TERRIBLE at the mo.
  21. Or you can try levering them slightly from the side witha screwdriver and then gently pulling them out.
  22. Hi Caroline - I'm looking into that too. My 'box is okay at the mo and like you I dont really mind the auto, just wish it was better, as you said. The issue is linking the auto box ecu with the engine ecu. Otherwise it may also be a case of mating the gearbox bellhousing to the engine block and getting the right driveshafts to fit too. I'd be surprised if there were any "plug and play" boxes tho'.
  23. Thanks for the tip Asim. BTW Kev, i found it bloody awkward from underneath hence the request for better approaches.
