Have a look under '93 2.0 16v, mine had the same style grill with the back opened up. I did mean to swap them over but I never got round to it before the car was sold.
-
Dont know why its like that but mine was as well. I didnt open mine up but bought a new debadged one with all the slats open and ive noticed a decent drop in oil temps so go for it. Definately one of the cheapest, effective mods ive ever done. (Oil Temps dropped from average 112 to 102.) My car does take noticably longer to warm up though so I might put the closed off grill back on for the winter.

Im very tempted to give a few of the things a go but usually when I try that sort of thing I hit a problem and make things worse and I dont have all the tools I would need, besides, we seem to be missing out on most of this good weather in Glasgow.

Already had, thought id post anyway for the sake of the people that quoted me and because it emails on to people, dont want to give the garage a bad name for high prices as they seem very good.

Had my car getting a check over at Bedrock today, the guys there are very helpful and they found a few things that need doing. Throttle cable - I knew about this one, about £50-£60 fitted we reckon, he wasnt sure on price as hes never done one on a VR before. Front engine mount - Gonnae get a Vibratechnics, £125+vat+fitting. Rear Gearbox mount - Standard, £65+vat+fitting. Rear Axle Bushes - Powerflex fitted for £180+vat. Front top mounts - About £25 each+vat+fitting. The brake fluid could do with a change as well but im gonnae leave that for another 2000miles till the service is due. So im looking at at least a £500 bill, im not bothered as I bought a cheaper, higher mileage car than I was originally looking for, im just wanting to know if the above prices sound about right which I think they do.
-
Everyone ignore this post, just got back from there and the price for powerflex bushes fitted is about £180-£200

Ive got a cousin who works for a vw stealers, the impression I get is that the pay is awful so most of there staff consists of apprentices with very few people who know what there doing, as soon as the apprentices complete there time they move on making way for more new apprentices.

So do u still slow down for the cameras if the bel tells u its off just in case? I think some of the cameras use sensors in the ground that a detector wont pick up. Whats your opinions on the Bel 550, thinkin of gettin one myself.

I seen somewhere that its easy to check if the stat is opening properly, something simple like wait till the car has warmed up then feel down the radiator to make sure its all hot, if the bottom of it is cold then the stat isnt opening. Just watch you dont burn yourself.

Just noticed the orange look on the indicators, will need to get some silvervision bulbs. 8)

Heres some new pics with my debadged grill fitted.

OK, heres the ECP mats I got, would have preffered grey ones but they only had black. There nothing special but for £25 plus vat I cant complain. (Except the corrado badge is stuck on squint)

Here you go Jim, a vw for u and u should still be able to keep saving. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... gory=16481

I cant believe that im going to be the sensible one here and say this but why not try and hold out to next year and keep saving. Maybe then you will be in a position to get a nice vr6 or something you really want, trust me its worth it. I also cant see how it would be cheaper to run a saxo and a golf compared to just a raddo. :?
-
friday fun!! whats your fav 3 raddo's on this forum ??
Joe M replied to W3RKD's topic in General Car Chat
Cheers Roddy, I still think your overly critical of yours as I hardly even noticed much of what you says wrong with it. As for my favorites, err, too many good ones too chooose from. Roddys Storm - it was a Storm just like this that got me into Corrados when a guy that stays near me got one brand new when I was about 15 or 16. dubster82's g60 - I like that colour a lot but its the wheels more than anything else, there the ones I would buy if I was changing. Mine - Cause its mine. :D Scottish biased as well but I only like to comment on cars ive seen in the flesh. -
Heres a recommendation from Paul up in Aberdeen With the recent topic of over inflated servicing charges (see Bavaria Auto Werke thread) I just thought I'd throw in a recomendation. A friend of mine owns a Garage in Stonehaven called Firstdrive Cars. He has a couple of excellent mechanics who are skilled in all types of German cars and I trusted them with my VR6 for the past 3 years, (and my 3 series convertible before that), when it needed any work done including a head rebuild. His hourly rate is only 22 quid and can usually supply a loan car and will give you a level of service far beyond a stealer. Here are the contact details Owner - Paul Mackie Firstdrive Cars 01569 766766 07801 856901 I hope this will benefit a few of you. Cheers Paul G And ill confirm that the car was very well looked after as its now mine. :D

Good point, just remembered that from when I got mine, if u take the ticket you are accepting it, if u dispute it I think u get a court summons or something. Its only with speed cameras the whole euro human rights thing came up and people started trying to get out of it.

Group buy on radar detectors?
-
If it works that Lotus will have been a godsend twice
-
Sorry Brian, I thought they would have fitted your car easy. :?
-
Think u might be fooked this time, did they use a gun on u or was it a car with the vascar thingy.
-
G60Jet, I dont think you get that on the later C's, there extra MFA features are more limited.
-
First thing I would check would be fuses, not sure what one. If there all fine feel round the back of the fusebox and make sure all the plugs are clicked in fully, the wires about there are pretty tight and they can pop out.

Gettin a set fitted by a localish place for 59 a tyre, they were 48 I think on mytyres then I would have to get them fitted and dispose of old tyres as well. Im pretty happy with the price, even happier as it was the only thing my car failed its MOT on. Will hold off on new wheels now until these tyres are worn.

Im sure I heard someone had a quote for axle bushes before from Bedrock VW's and it was about £180-£200. scotcorradog60, was it Aberdeen Volkscentre? I have a few receipts in my history from them and the prices for some of the work done seem reasonable.
