  1. I am with on this one Jim, I dont strip cars to make money, on the contrary I do it to obtain parts - no profiteering here :D This is whats wrong with it - and this is the good side, the rear has been next to some extremem heat and has melted all the plastics, the is a dent/scrape that runs the full length of the other side, someone has not been very careful with it! Its perfect for me, as with my car being an ex stripped out track racer it is missing lots of daft things like clips and fixings etc, stuff which is worthless tomost people, yet most people will happily try to take my eyes out.... So this one dies so that mine can be absolutely factory perfect :D
  2. Anyone owned this motor? its a midnight blue G60 corrado, and its now mine! Bought it from North East Motor Salvage yesterday for a small sum of cash. Got it to strip - did I mention it got something like a stage 4 charger on it, and full black leather interior? yippee!
  3. dunno what he has done with the bolts but the car is pretty much fettled now. 4wd is working and the other grumbling noise was coming from them daft track tyres he was running.
  4. mmmmm I dont think thats why I do it. New cars tend to have no soul. I do it because the car that I want has never been made, so I have to create it myself.
  5. something along the lines of 'Mr Angry's Car'
  6. yeah but in our case it was us that broke them lol
  7. so true so true - exactly the point, making a car perform better than what was intended = modding. WOW - did I just write that?! Can I have your autograph? :D
  8. nice - thats a mega thumbs up for OEM+ then :D its definately the way to go. heavy styling of the corrado is IMO just not necessary and again IMO is only done to be 'different' The amount of times I have heard 'yeah but thats been done' And? If its been done, then you will know whether it works before you deface your car! Now that I think about it the majority of these hideous creations are bourne out of a need to do something that no one else has done before - well no one else might have done it, because it looks rubbish! Thought for the day. :D
  9. agree mr moonlight, to be honest people could call my car a steaming pile of pap, but it wouldnt bother me, so I think when you advertise and 'push' your car that much, you should expect close scrutiny - its only fair.
  10. yes - have to agree, mods for a purpose are acceptable, as they tend to be subtle by nature. Apart from different wheels and ever so slightly lower ride height, my car should look standard :D
  11. lol I tried to avoid the word chavvy, but I know for a fact its in a lot of peoples minds
  12. ok. Not sure whether I can be regarded as a total purist considering my corrado is in the process of being extensively modified, but I want to gauge forum opinion on external styling mods. So There are three schools as far as I see it. 1. Totally original, no mods at all, these probablies fetch the best money second hand, but in my opinion things like the standard ride height slightly spoil the overall effect of the car. But overall I can really appreciate a nice tidy standard example. Gets a thumbs up from me :) 2. OEM+ This to me is the best form of modification. and to me the aim of this is for the average passer by in the street looks and cannot tell whats different about the car, and just thinks its either a newer car than it actually is or doesnt realise there are any mods at all on it. This is what I am trying for. I dont want to stand out from the crowd with bling shyte, mind you my car is bright yellow like..... anyways this gets a big thumbs up from me :) :) 3. Dunno what you would call the other stuff. I can think a few names...'Major Styling Mods' we will call it. I dont like any drastic mods on the corrado form at all really - I have yet to see any major mods on a corrado that I can honestly say I didnt think looked poor. Sounds a bit harsh I know and I am not slagging peoples cars off here, but I just see it as a whole load of expense, graft and time, and the end result is something that looks slightly naff, and devalues the car. definately for me a tumbs down :( These are all my opinions only of course, but what I would like to know is, what do you people think? am I alone in these thoughts? or is there a silent majority of people who feel the same and say nothing? or am I on my own and out of touch with reality? you decide! :D Should the corrado be left as vw intended, tastefully styled to a modern production car theme, or hacked about and reshaped into something completely err....different ? Shoot :D
  13. thanks for the advice lads I will go and stick it up em now :)
  14. I am from durham way (ish) but technically I havent had a road worthy corrado since 2 years gone march so the chances of seeing mine out and about are 'slim' to say the least
  15. My dad got issued a nip for doing 61mph in a 50mph limit (roadworks) thing is its a company car and it has been used by the lads to transport gas cylinders about, so he genuinely has no idea who was driving? So he told them this and asked for the photographic evidence. This is what they produced (see attachment) The word inconclusive springs to mind.....infact you could be forgiven for thinking there wasnt anyone driving! So, what do we do now? why should my dad have to take a speeding conviction when the chances are it wasnt him? any advice would be welcome.
  16. yes nugget yellow - best colour to get noticed without a doubt 8)
  17. its worth as much as someone will pay for it. and unfortunately buyers of modified cars are relatively sparse. sad truth :(
  18. someones obviously looked after the engine bay!
  19. Just to add to this: goingto work on friday I was behind a TDi seat leon at the junction at the bottom of my village, a gap on the dual carriage opens, he goes, I go straight after him, I give it full welly......and get left for dead. god knows what that was.
  20. well I am certainly not biased as I own one of each, and I still think the engine is seriously flawed. My opinions are totally objective, as I was over the moon when I got the bora, its just driving it for a year that has put me off it.
  21. Does anyone remener Vince and Penny from Just Good Friends? Sorry just wondered if it would turn red or not lol I know I know I am going....
  22. well it is and it isnt. To be honest I dont mind the narrow torque band, just means a bit more cog swapping when you are booting it - I have a 6 speed box on my bora and I can keep it on the boil quite easily. what annoys me is the bit leading up to the torque band. the bit that just isnt there. it is literally nothing....nothing....nothing....nothing.....wham full spread of torque and 1500rpm. now theres where you're wrong. you put both cars side by side in say 3rd gear at 1000rpm, and floor it, the corrado vr would pull away immediately and would never be caught. The flat spot is so bad right down there that it hardlies accelerates at all - no exageration. our lass's 1.8 mx5 would p1ss all over it in the same test. if I ever meet you good Doctor, and I am in the bora, you are welcome to experience the hidious-ness of it......and get your sumo suit on lol
