  1. And the ECU? Just I thought that sensor was auto only but maybe it is the one on the gearbox - maybe worth cleaning / reseating the connection
  2. Hmmm - Did your OBD2 stuff come from an Automatic by any chance??
  3. The metal clip just slides into the beam and hold the nut - may not be there... You should always replace this, the nut and the bolt when doing the rear shocks but lazy garages buy parts from factors and don't bother - drives me mad!
  4. 8mm - I think it's actually 7.6mm as it's an imperial size. You can use generic stuff but really much better to buy the proper moulded pipe from VW if you can
  5. ^ Jump lead advice is good... check battery voltage etc Was it a genuine ignition switch? (cheap ones can fail like this and this could be where the smoke was coming from)
  6. Thin 32mm spanner needed to get to it between the subframe and wishbone with the steeering in the right place. There's no way he'll have bent it doing a wishbone - the car must have hit something farily hard at one point but tbh the rod bending is a good thing - you'd have ripped subframe bolts out or worse if not - worth checking the car for other damage too though on that side!
  7. Spanner should do it but I had to use a nut splitter on one once when it just kept turning round - ball ache!

  9. Pete - restart your router, I had to do the same last night. Still does not work from my work network though...
  10. I suppose it got there by magic did it ;-)
  11. All, the following page has been kindly setup by Sarah over on Scirocco Central (with permission from Chris's family) to raise money for the Vulcan which he was passionate about. http://www.justgiving.com/ChrisRW1Gaskell PS - don't forget the GiftAid!
  12. WTF is that!!! Yeah buy new hoses from VW + clips and bin it!
  13. No probs, grab some irwins, they pay for themselves! If you ask for those bolts from a MK3 Golf they are 50 each as opposed to £2 for the Corrado ones - 1mm longer I think but fit absolutly fine as the carriers are the same - odd!
  14. It isn't hence why people fit VT's If you have a VR6 don't even think about putting a pattern mount on unless you have a spare bonnet ready to fit!
  15. Did mine yesterday Paul but the 'subscribe' link seems to be broken, one-off payment worked fine though :-)
  16. Shouldn't have an issue with a decent quality allen socket but if they've been re-used in the past you may needs the Irwins that you can now get in Homebase or on Amazon which is useful...
  17. The actual head bolts are spline not torx
  18. This is as good as genuine if you need mailorder - Elring http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_gaskets.php
  19. Kip - yeah I was sure he was late 50's but as you say, not old enough :-( Let me know if you here any more...
  20. And that's where I first met him to and have chatted to him since at many shows over the last 10 years. Great guy with a great sense of humour and huge passion for VW / Karmann cars with a technical knowledge that was second to none. Really sad news, especially for someone who'd not even reached retirement - a great loss to the Corrado / Scirocco scene and of course his family and friends.
  21. I replied to the email mate - I left work at 6 and was out after... I'll ring you next week you big gay xxx
