I get asked many questions about oil so I thought a thread here for all oil related questions would be a good idea and build into a FAQ or reference point for others. So, put your oil questions here but please give the following information if you would like a recommendation: Make Model Year Engine size/type Any mods Type of use (road/track) Additional info (max oil temps, current oil used) What do you want a recommendation for? Engine, Gearbox etc? I hope this will help and become a useful thread Regards Guy

At which temperature does an oil flow better? There is no temperature where oil suddenly starts to flow better. A 10W/40 for example will flow between -25C and 100C or more, but there is some difference in the rate of flow! (True viscosity at -25C is about 7000 Centistoke(cSt) units, dropping to 14 at 100C.

A semi will struggle with prlonged use at 120degc. VW recomend semi as the minimum spec oil to be used in the corrado, synthetic is the quality choice and always has been. Cheers Guy.
-
What grade? Cheers Guy.
-
What temp they can handle all depends on what they are made from and their viscosity. A top synthetic 5w-40 is happy running around at 120degc all day long without shearing down. Cheers Guy.
-
It is just something I hear quite a bit. Part 2 will be along soon. Cheers Guy.
-
Yes and no, you now see the carriage cost, before we said free delivery for orders over £35 but the carriage never was free, just hidden in the price of oils. Cheers Guy.

Hi all, Our new website is up and running and we are now ready to make some special offers to the clubs that we have dealings with. The idea of this thread is to keep all our offers in one place rather than starting a new thread for each offer. We will update this one each time we have a new offer - so keep your eye on it! [Mod edit: Opie are now doing separate threads for each offer hence this is no longer stickied] To kick off 2008, we are offering Corrado Forum Members 10% off everything on our website OpieOils for 1 week to expire at midnight on Friday the 29th Feb 2008. This offer is only applicable if you order via our website. At checkout you will need to enter this discount coupon: CORRADO710 This discount coupon will only work if you are registered on my website as a Corrado Forum Member and will not work after the 29th of Feb. You can register here Registration Form Happy shopping and please ask if you have any questions. Cheers Guy and the Opieoils team.

10w-40, what does it mean? We have answered thousands of oil questions in the last 4 years but the most frequently asked one is

It is worth the money, with oil you really do get what you pay for. The Pro S 10w-50 is good for 8-10,000 miles, change it befor and you are throwing away good oil, much as I like to sell it to those that change at 3-6,000 it is not needed. Cheers Guy.
-
Rob, From memory I cannot remember all the corrado variants. If you give me list of what variaous engines came in the corrado I can put a quick guide together for you. Cheeers Guy.

Depends on quality Semi-synthetics will not like 120degC! Cheers

We get asked many oil related questions every day and decided to put some of the most frequently asked ones to an Oil Expert called John Rowland. He has been the Chief R&D Chemist for Fuchs/Silkolene for many years and previously developed ahead of their time ester based oils for the RR Jet industry. What he doesn
