Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive February 06]
G replied to mistrall's topic in General Car Chat
I saw a dark blue / black corrado at sainsburies in enfield just now. N91 ***. Anyone on here? -
My cousin has just bought one. Very nice car but too grown up for me.
-
Nice one mate. Good to hear it's back home.
-
Damn i missed it. Hopefuly it will repeat tommorow night
-
Yes it could of. I wouldn't drive any car at all if it is very low on oil. Even if he has to drive it to the garage to get serviced I would top it up with oil before anyway. Id rather spend £20 on some good oil than a few hundred quid on engine parts.
-
Id either have a BMW 320i S with leather or a Nissan 200sx

I've been told that the rattle in my exhaust is a broken baffle in the centre box. I've been quoted 150 + vat to replace the box. Does this sound steep? Can anybody recomend any other cheapish options? Its a H reg 1.8 16v.

Photobucket has the code all ready for you under each picture. Just copy and paste it. It has the bits in already.

Mostly Kiss 100 because I have an original blaupunkt tape/radio stereo and I dont own any music tapes. Will have to make a mix tape one of these days but I really cant be arsed.
-
Welcome mate.
-
I've got a 1.8 16v. I reccomend Adrian Flux or HIC. I pay £450 TPFT (I'm 24 with 6 years no claims) and live in a crappy ish area in North London

It would do but a seized rear caliper could also be a culprit. I've also know a wheel bearing to get knackered after a temporarily seized rear caliper.
-
More than likely the wheel bearing. You could try jacking the car up abit and check if theres more play in that wheel than normal.
-
U sure u haven't caught someone in your rear bumper? That would cause a groaning sound. Sorry i couldnt resist. :drinking:
-
I wouldn't assume it. First thing i done when i got my rado is get a full service done including cambelt change. Put my mind at rest anyway.

I've just done a google search and found on one forum the bloke thinks the bore size is 1mm more on the 2.9. Not sure if its accurate or not though. That is another way of doing it but is abit more difficult for the manufacturer because it means using different spec engine block, head and pistons.
-
its measured by the volume of the bore (piston surface area) x the stroke. So a different crank is the easiest way of doing it. Another easy ish way would be to use a different head with slightly more/less area at the top of the cylinder. SOmeone correct me if im wrong though. Thinking about it that second way of doing it might just change the compression ratio
-
I dont actualy know the difference but I would imagine the 2.9 has got a slightly higher stroke (distance the piston moves) which is usualy done by having a different crank and not by using different sized pistons/block. This would give different engine characteristics.
-
Well i've just had it serviced and that included: Full service (Oil, all the filters, belts etc etc) Cam belt and tensioner change Welded a crack in my exhaust rear brake pads and fixed my rear numberplate light wire. Cost me £280. Does that sound like a good price or about right? If you lot think its a good deal then i'll put it up on the garage section of the forum.
-
Depends if one or more of those are faulty. Like someone else said it might be worth plugging in a VAG computer to check if your sensors are ok.

Today I put a magic tree (new car smell) in the rado and put some new wiper blades on. damn i'm good, i should be a mechanic! lol ......not.
