  1. Mimjed, you don't mean co pot, you mean carbon canister.
  2. Looks great that, don't see that many R32's in that colour. As for Corrado parts getting harder to get, this is true. I find that you can get creative and either use aftermarket parts and other VW parts. The truth is that a lot of parts were shared across the different models. In a lot of cases you can repair stuff as well (eg door handles).
  3. Fair enough, you make a good point about funding two cars, so sell the other one lol. Good call on a few beers Paul.
  4. I can mate, don't be an idiot and keep it. Don't make me come round and have to tell you face to face! Seriously, why do you want to sell? When you are C less you will regret it, there is nothing quite like one in my mind. Mine is staying with the rest of the keepers now as I would only end up getting another.
  5. You can run it without the thermostat for a bit, only it won't warm up very quickly. The real issue here must he the stats though. I once bought a new one that would not open when I tested in a pan on the stove. So just put the old one in that worked ok. You can't overheating the stat so sounds all a bit strange
  6. Been buying the Golf + mag for about 15 years now (!!!!!), just cancelled my subscription as I am seeing a lot of articles repeating (no bad thing but I am not getting anything new out of it anymore). Always struggled with PVW, attitude, too many American cars and how many adverts? These days I read VW Camper and Bus mag, just love the old stuff and of course some new coverage to keep us T5 owners happy
  7. Could be good chance to meet some folks, and the last owner of mine had a rebuilt engine done at stealth so let's see how healthy she is.
  8. Sports car, I am afraid not. The term sports car is purely British and in my mind derives from country sports, it fitted into an era of shooting, tweed and interbreeding. Certain motors were brought in for this era that has mostly gone now.
  9. Boost does not just come blasting through like a turbo. The charger is belt driven by the engine so boost builds up with engine speed. So you get a linear boost delivery that rises with the revs and does mot have the on off element a turbo does. For drivability think more naturally aspired than turbo. You would say the same of a VR by the way, you have to really boot them for them to fly
  10. Haha, well yes, she kind of buys into all the car nuttyness and because she is sentimental I can never sell the Corrado, Mk2 or Cab. The T5 is a lifestyle thing and great for camping. The Alfa, well that is just madness having already broken down on us twice which for a 4 year old car is pants, but when it looks as good as it does and in the absence of anything remotely interesting in the VAG group, it really is the right choice. 210 bhp with diesel economy helps too. But yes, I am back, though have been trawling the classified a lot.
  11. November last year I bought a Corrado VR off a mate, MOT'd and taxed and put it on the road as a toy for a few weeks. Then I tried to sell it for not really a lot of money considering the Stealth rebuilt engine and decent spec of suspension and exhaust. After very little interest with no viewings I got a bit despondant. I got very despondant when the Alfa 156 2.4 JTD spat it's engine internals out on me in the outside lane doing about 90!! OK one dead Alfa but a running T5 and now a Corrado for my wife to drive. Fast forward to late May and the turbo went on the bus, so now 1 working car being the rado. However, needing a modern car for business type driving that we both do we went an Alfa 159 TI 2.4 JTD. Very nice. Then we got the bus back and happy days. Then the bus broke again, now you have to consider that it has done 260,000 miles in less than 7 years of life, so i suppose it is entitled to be worn. Reality is that it needs a brand new engine as I don't see the point of patching something up that has done so many miles. But the best part of £8k is going to be needed to do this with a new clutch at the same time so it is going to be off the road until next year. So my daily is a Corrado VR6 and you know what, I bloody love it. It may be a bit shabby around the edges, it may not be the most comfortable commuting vehicle in the world, but by god the noise is awesome and it handles like on rails. The Alfa handles well but she is a bit of a fatty and like a lot of modern motors quite inert. So I am back, feel like I need to reaquaint myself with the site and offer advise where I can.
  12. The reality is that VW cannot be side tracked by areas of business that simply won't make any money. There is not room for any sentiment I am afraid, you have to keep on moving in business otherwise you end up in a position like Saab. Saving money is the only way to make money and economies of scale are where it is at, not descaling and fragmenting. I am afraid that VW cannot move into non profit making operations. Also them not appreciating their heritage is incorrect, they have one of the best museums in the world dedicated to their brand covering all the heritage.
  13. Would not say it is a 20 min job but is not hard at all. Prob be 2hrs max for the inexperienced
  14. Price for a fully working heater control panel please posted.
  15. Ah, living in Kidderminster has it's benefits, not many others I can think of though
  16. Thermometer switch will be your culprit, alternater issue will be something else.
  17. Just thinking that if you don't have full tyre contact with the rollers that it might distort the figures a bit, this would make sense if there is an issue with wheelspin as suggested. But not a rolling road specialist so just an educated guess
  18. I may be one to benefit from some of this stuff (as per ClubGti pm's), but are you really mad to be going TSi when you have this power out of a G60? As for the code I have just been looking at that and 'P' heads don't mean Group N or Eurospec specifically, I would get the head off and look for porting and polishing combined with checking the Valve sizes, could well be a heavily worked head (which in itself would be similar to Group N in terms of spec)
  19. You can't get a lot of info using vagcom, because the two twin connectors are not very advanced. Have you checked the 1m pipe properly? There may still be a split in it you have not found. The co2 pot could need setting up. Should be about 450 ohms resistance across outer pins.
  20. Yeah all paid for now, thanks for tour help
  21. Hi, Is it LC5M moonlight blue. If so can I have pics of front bumper, bonnet, passenger wing and passenger door, might even have sunroof panel too so pic of that as well.
  22. I think it is me to be honest, I was looking at the bottom arm next to you thumb thinking it was the top arm, you have to bear in mind I can only visualise it from the top as it sits in the gearbox currently covered in cable ties holding the bloody thing on. I am sure it is fine, OK with £30 delivered?
  23. That's the one, though the lower arm looks like it is missing the bit that has broken on mine, so am not sure that is going to fix my problem.
