  1. Right, well had it for sale for a bit, but seeing it blows smoke and 16v C's seem to be worth worth bugger all at the moment. I have decided to do some work on it. Now rebuilding the engine, well another bottom end anyway. Currently have a stripped down block in my kitchen. Took head off the engine and it looks really new, like it has hardly been used, no oil staining, really clean. Going to get it pressure tested to check its all good. So plan is to get it back in before Pod and so some runs. Will have to get it run in really quickly though!
  2. Alright Ben, good guess the other night when I had to guess what Corrado you bought, by the sounds of things the dollar was right too. Try not to send this one the way of your Rallye though ;) Hopefully no hidden rot or paint work required that can't be completed by that dick of a new owner of your body shop.
  3. A 2.0l 16v will not require the use of a Cat, your car is old enough not to need it. ABF engine is taller, though would have thought a VR6 bonnet would take care of height issues.
  4. Another victim, passenger side price delivered please, many thanks
  5. I would have thought the vacuum hoses need checking, may have split one or even had one pop off.
  6. Make sure the timing is right and you have not missed off a breather pipe. There is one right under the inlet that can easily be missed.
  7. Running a 2.0l on K-jet is the way forward, with flowed head, KR cams and 4 branch you should see over 180 bhp. Or just sod it and buy a modded G60 or VR
  8. Oil cooler has more than likely gone. I have only had it happen on 8v engines and no breather oil smoke was caused. Anyway, for the sake of 30 quid it is a lot cheaper than taking the engine apart if that is all it is.
  9. Nothing concrete, maybe just tidy it up a bit and run to the shows and a few track days over the summer. Or I am thinking of swapping it with someone who has a Mk1 Gti or Mk2 16v for a more concerted track effort
  10. Well i can't believe it has been here a month already. Still not sure what i am doing with it. The leather has been for sale for a while now. hopefully got someone coming for it tomorrow. Not sure about the engine, need to compression test it, if it is just the head I will swap it, if rings have gone i will prob chop it. In the mean time i now have door handle ordered and got an ignition lock and housing. Then it is just a matter of sorting other niggles should it pass a compression test. Otherwise if it fails it sill be in for the angle grinder

    HELP!

I would just start haggling with them, send them a copy of your receipt. Then tell them to look at the autotrader adverts. You have the right to refuse, at the end of the day an unfinished claim will become a pain to them, as will you giving them some well info'd agro. It is possible, I bought a G60 2 years ago, within 72 hrs of owning a women hit the back of mine. (It seems a trait this!). I bought mine for 2k, I claimed car was worth 3.5k and naughtly I doctored the written receipt to say this and sent them the copy. In the end they paid me 3k plus valued car at 300 quid which I kept to break myself. Whatever you do don't worry about the value of your Corrado, it is worth lots in parts and if you have room to break it you could make some money on the whole thing to make the pain all worthwhile.
  12. This time of year old VW's do seem to produce quite a lot of steam. Just the cold weather making it obvious. Should disappear mainly when hot.
  13. You can go with Kent cams, but standard KR cams are really good and not sure the extra money spent on Kents will really be worth it.
  14. Good choice, match to a ported head and 4 branch manifold you will have a nice engine. V5 conversion would be a waste of time, the engine is not that powerful and you would be better off going V6 from a 4 motion or R32
  15. I am now on the look out for no '1'
  16. Is there an ignition module? You have not somehow bypassed that by mistake?
  17. YES!!!!!! Can't wait, the only TV i make time for
  18. Certainly not seen anything like that before, don't want to see it ever again though.

    Lock sets

The ignition barrel is prob screwed, car was subject to break in and was sold to me minus one door handle and any keys (I know it sounds dodgy but it ain't). So my plan was to replace all locks and have a nice pair of new keys.
  20. Last year I was there on Club Gti Worcs stand. I cheated and went in my virtually brand new Leon Tdi, did not need much cleaning!! This year I hope to have something older to take. As the new Leon ain't so rare now.
  21. You know where the special display hall was with the buggy's in. The patch of grass in front of the entrance. I think there was 3 of them on the far right (as if you had just come out of the buggy hall). Think they were only there Sunday.
  22. No way, start looking at the turbo conversion route. If you are into your speed there is no harm being a kid all your life
  23. They were there, you must have had sun stroke ;) I know i did!!
  24. Check my sig, the link for the pic is there.
  25. Lol, sorry Carl, it is truly bad luck for quite a low mileage car. I reckon you should see if all you need to do is replace the shells, they are common problems on G60's. Not sure what the colour is, I thought it was Tornado red when i saw it, but may be wrong. Needs Drew to get us the paint code i think
