Your whistle is the air passing along the return pipe. Have you got a boost leak, you would know because the car won't be as powerful

Thought that they had 3 year warrantys

Another vote for coilies, and butchered airbox

Who's travelled the furthest for a car in one stint???
Rustynuts replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
From South of Birmingham to Newcastle, sat an exam at Uni for 3 hours and then back home again. 460 miles in a Polo 1.05l breadvan. Seeing that most of that was over 80 mph and some of it over 90 that was a mission!! -
Should not really do that, but i have heard that most do.

recirculates the oil vapours so they combust in the engine. Otherwise your car tends to smell like oil when sat in traffic.
-
Thats attached to the engine normally ;) The best thing to do is borrow a support cradle that sits above the engine and on the gutters where the wing bolts are. Otherwise being a bit clever with the trolley jack should sort it. (though ideally you need a second to support the subframe weight.
-
I have got a Strongbow can
-
Sounds like a lot of work that way. If you can support the engine drop the subframe leaving it attached to the ball joints then pull out in the wider gap.
-
When you belt it around a right hander you can often get oil surge. I had a big problem with my track car doing that so i cut the pipe and installed a catch tank. For a daily driver i would just renew any breather pipes that look old or saggy.

How do you mean turns itself on, is the key in the barrel when this happens?
-
The cam should push the torque up the rev range a bit thats all. I suspect the charger too, do the charger test so often talked about on here
-
Does it have a WUR, 5th injector, auxilery air valve on this engine? If so these could be to blame.

The classic T-Bone, has happened to me and it is not nice. Thankfully it was a Mondeo i was driving so only metal to me. I hope that you get what you need for it. Are you going to keep salvage, you are entitled to it. The good thing is, is that it will only be worth 10% of what the payout value is, so get it back, break and and make some money back selling the bits the the circularing vultures ;)
-
I don't mean that really, i just think 15's look lost in the arches when the car is low, especially when you are talking late G60 but early narrow track running gear

Is PG block the strongest block that vw has ever made ?
Rustynuts replied to VWci's topic in Engine Bay
I know the astra 16v blocks have been used heavily here, prob because they were easy to come by, easy to tune and cheap to replace when they blow up (not so much now as most have blown up  ) -
17's look so right on a Corrado though, you might lose a fraction on outright acceleration and comfort, but a slammed rado on 15's looks a bit silly. Now on a Mk2 Golf i think 17's look to big.

VW used to use a 2 up plus luggage to test 0-60, don't know if they still do.

Another happy customer. I take it was the oil seal?

Have you tried the search, this has been discussed to death

NOT SOLVED: G60 only responds to tiny throttle openings
Rustynuts replied to G60 Bob's topic in Engine Bay
You need to start eliminating things before we can advise more, thats not meant to sound arsey by the way ;) -
NOT SOLVED: G60 only responds to tiny throttle openings
Rustynuts replied to G60 Bob's topic in Engine Bay
I think you need to concentrate on your sensors, have you checked the spark plugs for their colour, if they are black it is over fueling, if they are white it i running lean. Make sure that the lambda sensor is earthed properly. Also from what you say it could be that the Cat has broken up and blocking air flow into the exhaust. See how you go with these -
NOT SOLVED: G60 only responds to tiny throttle openings
Rustynuts replied to G60 Bob's topic in Engine Bay
Change the throttle cable, i think they are only 20 quid, but are a VW only part i believe. Then see how it reacts, process of elimination. For the record i can't see there being a problem, unless the WOT switch is broken and you are actually on WOT. check it clicks when pressed as a starting point. -
C's are a good build quality. The probable perceived expense on Corrados relates to new and second values of spares. EG a headlight for a Corrado is going to cost you 100 quid, a golf 20 quid. New body parts are extortionate and due to this the 2nd hand parts go for a bit too. General service parts are not too bad other than for some engine specific bits (G60 plugs cost a tenner each!!). All in all though a well looked after C won't cost the earth as long as it has been maintained throughout its life

The greys off Rallyes are pretty good for flowing fuel. They are only a smidge off the reds i understand. I have some greys to go on mine eventually when i get round to it.
