  1. Yeah looking into that, though to be honest more likely to get NOS as that really will give a good kick per pound.
  2. My 1.9 8v Golf is quicker to 60 than my G60 Corrado, thought you all needed to hear that ;) After that though the G60 kicks ass. At pod i raced a VR6 with a shrick inlet, i was actually quicker off the line but when he hit 3rd he went past me. was 30 degrees on the day though
  3. NOS is something i have been considering, it works well on G60's as it is a great way of cooling charge. Def an easy way of boosting power and the internals of a G60 engine is strong enough to take it. Even better is that you can turn it on and off as required

    My new G60

Has it got the required 3.5 bar fuel pressure reg?

As most people say in this situation, give Darren a ring at G-Werks to book in for a setup. As it stands it is difficult to tell at this minute, Check the Vac hos that leads from the the back of the throttle body to the ECU and make sure that it is airtight and measures 1m long. Secondly check if the car is running rich (black sooty plugs) If so a sensor is knackered (likely to be lambda) See how you get on with that first.
  6. Looks similar to the one that Bahnbrenner sell, wonder if the pipework you got is wrong, mine, like most it seems, has a bit of an angle.
  7. I am not sure on the make of mine, though it does get quite close to the heat shield, when i fitted a new lambda sensor recently i hammered at the heat shield a bit to give me extra room when fitting it, i would suggest you do the same when you change yours.
  8. Going back to the engine, it would be worth contacting VW direct about the cost of a new van block. Speaking to Steve Cresswell of C&R a couple of weeks back he said to me that it often makes sense just to buy new blocks as VW have vastly reduced the cost of new engines lately. If i remember right you can pick up a brand new PG block for about 900 quid as an example.
  9. Try not to do long distance in the Corrado, did Stourbridge to Oxford and back today, 140 miles to play cricket, I am mad. Generally use the Mk2 Golf Gti to rack the miles up. However, best in a day was in my first car, a 1.0l Polo breadvan, Midlands to Newcastle, do an exam at Uni, then back again all in the same day, 460 miles with 45bhp, to be fair i did not know any better at the time and that car really did me proud.
  10. Thing is, there are always ways to get rounded allen key bolts off, first off all use allen key bits rather than allen keys themselves as you can hammer them in, if they then still round off, hammer in a torx bit or spline bit. At the end of the day, Corrados are old cars, they will need maintenance, as with my experience tells with Golfs before, sometimes a bit of thought and brute force are required.
  11. Did you kill it at Donny last week, did look good flying round that track!!
  12. I doubt many will giving their Corrados away for free seeing the prices you can get on the parts!! Nice thought though
  13. Hmm antique dealers, guess the job of the chap who bought my mums 850 estate. G60's got a bad press that is a little unfair, as is always said, buy one that had had a maintained charger, the engine itself is more bullet proof than the already bomb proof normally aspirated Gti 8v!!
  14. Keep an eye on the classifieds mate, there are some floating around on there. Most G60's will have the smaller pulley and chip now so look out for one of those. Other good mods are decat and cam upgrade to take you into the 195/200 bhp region. Later G60's had ABS which can cause trouble.
  15. Ah bugger, could have made that in the silver shed Golf, too late now though as got to do some repairs for the C's MOT, bloody rear calipers!!
  16. Ah, but the hose that connects to the ecu is never on the wrong side of the bypass valve. It can be the wrong side of the main throttle butterflies. Now in its normal position i can see that the ECU gets a reading depending on how open the butterflies are. If it is the other side surely it will read boost even if the bypass valve is open (ie when the throttle is closed) or closed (when the throttle is open. In effect there is always boost running across the pipe. I don't think at any point my car was running lean, otherwise it would have been very noticeable on my times at the pod. Now i am not trying to be clever here, if something else is happening you might have to explain it in layman terms.
  17. I don't understand that, because it smells like a petrol station when they are on the wrong way round. Surely if the ecu hose is on the wrong side of the butterfly valves the ECU will see permenant boost all of the time? Anyway, did try it at the pod, made no difference to the times and all i really managed to do was burn my hand on the rather hot inlet manifold.
  18. Why don't you just buy a VR6? Surely it would be far less time consuming and if you ever need to sell you won't be selling a car that could be difficult to shift.
  19. Yeah try that first, could be gunked up and it is sticking a bit
  20. Buzzing is normal, should be high frequency vibration to the touch, the clicking is not normal and i would check that out if i was you.
  21. Maybe that the ISV is sticking on the boost release thing that it does, my car was intermittant with power, then i changed the ISV and it was fine. Maybe the ISV is bleeding boost at half revs when it shouldn't, crack open the carb cleaner and give it a soak.
  22. I had one on my last C that lasted 4 days of ownership, sadly the photos i have do not really show the exhaust in its full lack of glory. I actually still have the exhaust from stripping the car and am going to sell it once i have cut the sticky up ends off it. My advise is that they don't really fit the rear bumper apperture, and do not really look that good.
  23. Certainly know that feeling of being looked at, my C is understated in Atlas Grey, but the howl of the charger and boost return whistle usually turns the heads. (Either that or the sound of my goddam front spoiler grounding out again!!)
  24. Check out this site, this will give you some vital info about G60 tuning and trouble shooting, make sure you do the boost check trick on the MFA. SNS site

    R1 or Lysholm?

The only shocker for me is the noise, probably ok with a silencer kit but non silenced great for shows but pants for daily driving. Power figures are good though and are capable of producing more boost.
