I have vented the tank, into the back of the airbox, when i meant blocked pipes, I meant all the ones i was supposed to. Anyway, thanks to G-man (Darren) he diagnosed the problem over the phone, i had put the ECU pipe on the wrong connector on the back of the throttle body. Interestingly the car absolutely flew like that, probably due to the ECU pumping in too much fuel. Might swap them back over for next month at the pod to see if i get better times.

All pipes are blocked off, checked for leaks and all seems ok. Its a strange one, but thanks for the advice on the blue temp sensor, i tried disconnecting the blue sensor but the engine died, which is a little odd i thought but that could be because the idle is too low
-
Having decided to do the carbon canister removal on my G60, all relevant hoses blocked off. Now idle seems a little rough and car has a tendency to to stall coming up to junctions (not good when your ignition switch is dicky!!) I have had a play with the idle screw to see i that makes a difference, strangely it makes no difference what so ever. Any ideas?

I am getting coilies soon so i can go a bit lower, as it is too high at the moment.
-
Here you go, this should give you an idea, car slightly lowered on Koni shocks and springs and the wheels are 16"
-
It is always worth trying classic insurance, usually the car has to be 15 years old but if you don't try you don't get.
-
Hmm, def boost leak there sir, get it connected up and feel the difference.

Only one Corrado there, and not mine either. I was in a my 1.9v 8v Golf, and boy did she fly :D Chassis is brilliant, got FK Konigsports with uprated ARB's. With them wound up i made a tentative debut, before long it was opposite lock action all the way. In the S bends nothing much could keep up!! Anyway, seem to have changed my priorities, I think that i am going to spend some money making my track car quicker, the Corrado is going to have to wait.
-
Yes i agree an oil cooler should be high priority, going to build my 2.0l 8v turbo Golf though first, then i won't feel the need to nail the Corrado as it won't be as quick as the Golf.
-
Make sure that the oil level does not go below min, mine was just on the cusp last night and after some serious caning (124 deg oil temp) and some serious tyre screeching on a roundabout my oil pressure buzzer came on. Prob due to oil surge in the sump, but as i was going down hill i turned my engine off and rolled down the hill into a layby. Restarted and drove the few hundred yards home. Filled her up with oil and let her cool down, water fan was still on after 5 mins!! Today has been fine so don't think i have done any damage.

Well i heard that it won't make too much difference if its upto 5cm short, anyway that's not the problem here as my problem is intermittant. Interestingly car has been flying today, almost as if hammering near the knock sensor as knocked it (scuse the pun) back into line. Anyhow will see how it goes, picked a spare up today so will try that at some point.
-
I reckon i would prefer a Leon 20vT 225 and Revo it, now that would make a CTR look silly. However, will stick with my slightly erratic G60 for the time being.
-
I will give that a try, done the lambda, ECU pipe is fine if slightly short - 96cm and all the earths seem to be ok but will give them the once over again. Will try disconnecting, however when i created knock nothing happened at all.
-
I am sure that my knock sensor is intermittant, sometimes the car is a bag of cack to drive, sometimes it flies. Having ruled out the WOT switch by changing it, i suspect this could be the cause. Firstly, are knock sensor failures common on a G60? I have never had any problems with 8v Golfs running Digi2. Secondly i read on Vortex that to test the sensor you hit the block and it will advance the fueling. Right well i tried that by giving it a good prod with a breaker bar and i could tell no difference at all at idle, should i have revved it a bit whilst doing this test, and also how can i tell if something is happening? Do the revs lift slightly?
-
You could be right, but would say you won't go far wrong by tightening every 3rd or 4th bolt until you have gone round 2 or 3 times and you should be fine. My experience of doing a sump in the floor can be a pain as really a third hand would be useful.

I would day that you caught him on your torque curve, bear in mind that he will be having to rev the nuts off his to get really motoring
-
I don't really get scenery like that in the West Midlands and its 100 miles to N Wales, Bugger

I dont f*cking believe it!!!! The SKYLINE got bashed today!!

Sorry to hear this, I am always paranoid about street parking, if i does not get hit by a driver, a cyclist might have it, or some spotty Chav with a bad attitude will have a go. Sounds like the daily driver route could be the best option. -
Well i might have a 1.9 8v bottom end coming up soon if thats of interest as i may be going 2.0l with my trackcar when i pick up my turbo kit.
-
Keep us informed on progress, would be interesting to see how it goes and the benefits you get.
-
No probs here either, seeing that i have got them in the Golfs as well as the C, they really do suit my 6ft 2 frame. In fact got some late VR6 black seats in the black Golf and they are amazing, the GF even drives the car daily with a cushion for height she likes them that much.
-
Well done, have heard of people changing their head gaskets because they assumed that was causing the problem, when it was just the header tank cap.
-
Sometimes its really as simple as that
-
Is it small enough to sit in the wing and if so will it give better cooling than a standard item?
-
Agreed, don't do that with my C, its just the Golf gets it everytime i drive it. ;)
