Louie Lungbubble Can I just say that I think your Avatar is in very bad taste.

That's going to be an almost impossible challenge to find out, considering that "Drifty" has been banned from just about every internet forum in the UK !

You need to read back a few pages

I had Koni adjustable coilovers on my first VR6 and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. They're expensive, but then the best always is...

No, unfortunately (amazingly) there is no facility to search the forum posts at Scoobynet so I gave up. There are over 75,000 threads on there so you'll never find it now.

I wouldn't know anything about that Andy. I was unconscious at the time... -

And the time in 2005 I undertook a "temporary fix" to the lower door seal of M100VRG by judicious use of some superglue to fix the rubbers back to the bottom of the door. The fix worked fine, but I forgot I left the tube of glue on top of the seat and glued my arse (with superglue!) to the drivers seat when I jumped in to go out 5 minutes later... -

And the time that I got my directions to AmD in Bicester all wrong while leading a convoy and 14 other members of the Corrado Club all followed me into Bicester village instead (what berks - they should have known my sense of direction was crap) -

( I have loads of these stories) ... there was the time I wrecked my o/s wheel and trackrod when I hit a kerb in central Bournemouth whilst "distracted" by a very pretty girl who was walking into Bar Med - oh hang on... that wasn't funny... it cost me over £200 to fix... -

Then there was also this incident back in 2001 when myself and a large group of the Corrado Club guys were on thier way into GTI International up at RAF Bentwaters. We were just passing the water tower, no more than ½ a mile from the gate, enjoying the sunny Saturday and the prospect of a great show when BOOM! this plonker in a MkII G60 when ca-hoooning past us doing at well over 100mph, overtaking on the chevron'd turning area and throwing all manner of stones, shyte& general dust in through the windows of our cars... With our cars all covered in stones and ourselves all covered in crap, we all considered finding him and beating seven bells out of him inside Bentwaters, but we needn't have bothered... a marked Five-0 with a radar gun had seen the whole thing from the roundabout outside the base gate, radar'd him and was preparing to sheep-shag issue a ticket to the G60 as we passed him. -

Oh, and then there was the kiddie in the Civic Type-R I was following through Verwood just after Christmas. As we came up to some traffic lights he decided to drop the hammer on the yellow light, and shot through it at full bore just after the lights went red, leaving me on the red lights. Shame he didn't see the marked Trafpol which was right behind me... blues & twos straight on & over they went after him. I passed them both about 400yds down the road, with Officer Dibble already "in conversation" through the drivers window. Sometimes I think there is a God, and he puts these ejuts on the earth purely to provide entertainment for me... -

And then there was the time I was in the car park at Asda, and a lazy cow decided to plonk her handbag right on the roof of a Jaguar which was parked next to her own car, while she put her shopping into the boot of her own (adjacent) car. The bloke who owned the Jaguar arrived back to find a handbag dropped on the middle of his expensive roof, and promptly picked it up and tossed the handbag way across the car park, scattering it's contents everywhere. That one was hilarious... absolute quality... -

Well... There was this one time back in about 2003 I was coming down the d-carriageway into Bournemouth when a kiddie in a maxxed-up Impreza Turbo (white with gold wheels) came hooning up behind me *very* quickly (I wasn't exactly hanging about myself). I was stuck in traffic but that didn't stop him bumpering me - pretty aggressive & unnecessary stuff considering the traffic really, but eventually I managed to pull over to let him past. Anyway he blatted past me with his 4" exhaust blaring full song. He can't have got more than about 200 yards in front of me when lo! - acrid white smoke suddenly starts billowing from the exhaust, engine blown to feck... Laugh? I had tears all the rest of the way home... -
No bids... it's so damaged it's not even worth a pony let alone the best part of a monkey, LOL

Trust me, Badger5 will do you just about the best price in the UK for these parts. As a long term Brembo user I know this for a fact. The last time I enquired (last summer), GSF didn't stock either discs or pads in the 323mm size. That is because they are SEAT parts. Don't forget that you also need replacement carriers (and possibly longer hoses) to go up from 305 to 323. If it worth the upgrade? Well that really depends on how much you value braking as part of your driving experience equation. For road use, 305's with the 4-pots are an excellent upgrade from the (VR6) 280 setup But if you already have 305's, and considering the money involved, I'm not sure you'll really justify the cost of upgrading again unless you want to do track work. The 323's are a fair bit better than the 305's - it's just not really worth the cost all over again. p.s. it's probably a moot point but the Seat Leon 323 discs are 5 stud only... p.p.s. cost? you're probably looking at a bag of sand
-
I think you really need air-ride.

Try contacting Bill at Badger5, that's where I get the pads for my 323mm Brembos from. He can probably get you the discs and (I believe) he does the carriers for 323mm conversion as well. HTH John

NOt wishing to state the bleedin' obvious, but if your cat shield is knackered and scratched, removing it will just spell the certain doom of your cat. And if you need one for an MOT, they're expensive....

I'm lovin' it. They've dumped the reviews of all the crappy cars they used to have (Nissan Cube anyone?), are ragging only ridiculous supercars everywhere, a bit of jolly banter with a celeb & at the cool wall, and pull a magnificent stunt "mission" It's a change and at least for now I welcome it. Still a load better than Fifth Gear IMHO

Suggest you : a) Check that ALL the pipes are on good 'n tight all the way from the airbox to the throttle body, and the hose clips are properly tightened. Even a small leak can cause the problem you describe. b) Failing that, and given what you've tried I suggest the air mass sensor might be either playing up, or the wiring to it might be chaffed. If you know anyone with another VR6 try swapping them over to prove that If that doesn't isolate it, try finding someone local with VAG-COM HTH, John

As far as I know Trimsport still produce stainless steel strut braces for the rear. They had to increase thier prices last year due to the price of steel but I think they still produce them as they are a good selling item. Since you have a G60 you might also consider whether one of Trimsport's MkII Golf front strut braces will fit. I have one of these (unfitted at moment) but they are great quality although I havn't yet established whether there is enough clearance with the bonnet shut or not - it's a close fit at best. Alternatively Stroeve Motorsport used to do some really sweet brushed aluminium strut braces for G60 Corrado. They were expensive (rear was around £160) but they were amazing quality, and all the Dutch guys used to have them. HTH John

Me too. It's a huge shame that the once great little company which Geoff & Scott ran out of Oddington years ago, has now just become a piece of Badge engineering for someone else. All the guys who made AmD great have left since Scott emigrated a couple of years ago. As for the other issue you bring up, I seem to recall (although unsurprisingly it's hard to find anything in the archives) that a certain Golf R32 had some trouble on the rollers at the end of the 2005 season?

AmD have changed hands again, and have been bought jointly by Big Boys Toys & Mega4. Looks like the Bicester place is (has) closed and it's all relocating to Essex. Article : http://www.amdtechnik.com/news.read.cfm?articleid=35

Reminds me of the convoy we ran down the M4 to GTI International back in 2001 - we had something like 50 cars in that, plus some Golfs who hooked up with us along the way. No reason why we can't do something similar again - main obstacle is getting it all recorded & edited like this one. BTW great video Eric, your German mates have been busy these past few months haven't they :)

I liked the cabrio too Eric. A natural shape for a chopped roof if you ask me.
