    Tippety Tap

Right, been searching all morning and got plenty of ideas but need clarification just to be on the safe side. Getting tapping noise from the engine (not opened bonnet yet) which sounds like I've got clickety clackers on it. They get faster the quicker the engine is revving not the speed of the car. On the weekend I had someone look at the aircon, pressure is fine but he said its either the aircon pump or wiring (we left it there). He did say that my aux/drive belt?? (goes round the aircon, alternator etc) was worn, slightly cracking. Now he did poke around the aircon pump thingy by pushing the plate in to try and clear any possible rust between them when the engine was running, not sure if that makes a difference, Although I have no proof of it, the engine had a top end rebuild/tensioners and clutch about 20k ago according to previous owner, also spoke to garage about this and they confirmed it. Getting worried now by reading various posts!
  2. Do you need the sponge? How much weight can be saved?
  3. Already found somewhere v close to me, £17.50+VAT each. Cheers anywho
  4. I'm only getting the tailpipe done, not the whole exhaust or even cat back, so the sound shouldn't really change.
  5. Oh, and if anyone knows the part number for them, that'd be great!
  6. Found a set of 2.8 VR6 Golf fuel injectors, what I'm wondering is whether or not these are the same as the ones on my C? If they are I can get them cleaned and flow tested without taking my car off the road! Tried searching and still waiting for VW to get back to me with an answer.
  7. £180 is a lot cheaper than a new set of alloys and then tyres!
  8. Just gone down to my local place. He would paint them and put a strong laquer on as opposed to powder coating. His words were "powder coating is slightly stronger than paint & laquer but you can get/match any colour you want with paint". He had several alloys hes just finished and they were mint as well as having good word of mouth. He also fully guarantees the wheels. £45 per corner, 3 days to do all at once. He recommended gun metal grey on my car as well. Good pic of yours, gives a good idea of it! Even similar blue to mine. Hmm, thinking, thinking!
  9. Even in a anthracite or gunmetal grey type thing?
  10. I was thinking of getting my speedlines redone. Not sure whether to just refurb the wheels back to standard or as they at the shop, get them changed to a diff colour? Whats made me think of this is what someone did to their GTI6 (see pic). They got theirs powdered in white and I like it. Now I'm not thinking of doing it in white but poss a diff shade. Has anyone changed their speedys? Any pics/thoughts? My C is Aqua Blue Pearl.
  11. I suppose it was more of an after the bodywork order of things. £35? Sounds more like tracking to me than a camber adjustment. £75 for the readout and another £75 if it needs adjusting.
  12. Trouble is, I want it all shiney for the summer! :) Aircon getting done sat as I'm next to the guy that does it and for the sake of £65 I might as well.
  13. Agree with injectors, the only thing that I have to add is that there is a bit of rust on the rear seams so I do want the bodywork doing as soon as I can. Ahhh, decisions decisions!
  14. Got a fiance mate, spending that much time on the car is more of a refuge than having nothing else to do! :)
  15. Oh yeah, get it now!
  16. How much !!! you must be kidding, you can get new for that surely? £21 per injector (6) plus £120ish to take them out at my garage and then 2 days later put them back in again. Apparently you have to remove the inlet manifold and various bits to get them out. Brand new from VW each injector is £93!
  17. Things I'm planning to do on my C. Just wondering which is the best order to do it in? I'd like the bodywork done I reckon, in time for the summer but what do you think? 1, Bodyshop visit - All I want doing (£550) 2, Koni & H&R Sus Kit Fitted (£550 est) 3, Camber adjustment (£150 VW) 4, Injectors cleaned and flow tested (£250 inc removal and put back) 5, Reverse Parking Sensors (£200 fitted, little sensors in rear bumper, not num plate) 6, Fix pass heated electric seat (£??) 7, Regas/repair Aircon (£65 if its just a regas, although poss getting done sat as I'm nr the guy in Leeds) Wow, longer than I thought! First time I've written it down! Feel free to add anything I've missed thats a good thing to do. Wanting to keep it pretty standard looking, or OEM+ as the term appears to be!
  18. An hour and a half! Not long enough! Has to be at least half a day! :)
  19. Out of all these, which would you go for. I'm getting a new tailpipe done on sat as mines just rust! http://www.powerflowexhausts.net/products.cfm I like these. What do you think?
  20. Of course you can! Just replace she gets.... to you get.....!
  21. Couple of scenarios I've come up against this month and wondered what you lot would do in the same situation? #1 - Getting slightly late for work but nothing major and got stuck behind 2 funeral cars (in procession, not going for their MOT) doing 30 in a 50, single carriage way. A bit of road coming up where you can get past, but it'd be a drop down to 2nd and nail it, then come in before the island. (enough room to do it safely, but swiftly!). Would you pass them? #2 - Just spent 3 hours cleaning the full leather interior and everything else. When you go out for a drive and park up for a sandwich she gets horny! (note: its pissing it down outside and you dont use balloons). Would you?
