nice one, thought so!! 8) Also worth mentioning that if you dont get a good deal online it is definatly worth contacting the office as the online quotes are quite new so not all the schemes are available online yet and there may be other schemes/discounts you could get! :)

Do You mean Herts Insurance? http://www.hertsinsurance.com :?

and Different brokers will get different rates from a particular underwriter depending on the amount of business they put with them, the type of vehicle (eg if a company specialises in Dubs) and the Claims Statistics. The large difference in price there is more likely due to the fact that flux are a huge broker and probably have a much better account through Highway than Chriss Knott so can get better rates. Under FSA rules if Chriss Knott were charging an extra £400 admin charge or similar then they would have to disclose that to you and therefore would probably not get many customers! Highway are also on our panel of underwriters and they are a very large company, you could probably ring round all day and get 20 different quotes from different brokers all through Highway! Thats just the way it works! :)

We didnt in the end.... Yeah that was me mate! i did wonder if that might have been you! :D

Nice one, im in Saffron Walden so just up the road. Yeah i love the colour, i had never even considered getting a yellow one but when i saw it advertised and it was just up the road thought i may as well have a look because everything else sounded good (FSH, family owned 12yrs, good price) and as soon as i got there i loved it. To think i almost didnt view it cos of the colour...... 8)

Where abouts in Essex are you? Yes mate it was from Debden! Do you know the car then? Martin :)

Cheers for the welcome everyone. :) Nah i only work on the new sales/underwriting department so any existing customers who have been silly enough not to declare mods (especially when it often does not effect the premium) then thats up to them! I think i would soon become the most unpopular forum member for that! Obviously if people getting a quote from me on a recorded call non disclose thats a different matter...... I come on the forum as a newbie corrado owner not to push HIC but my insurance knowledge will probably mean that i am more likely to post in insurance related topics as i know more about this than technical stuff on the car etc at the moment. (but if HIC sell a few more policies as a result then thats an added bonus cos then my boss does not moan at me for spending half my day logged onto forums! 8) ) If anyone wants quotes or insurance help then i will be happy to try and help you so feel free to PM me, I dont work on commision but would just rather spend the day talking to fellow dubbers than a 17yr old having wet dreams about a Skyline then deciding to call for a quote just incase he wins the lottery! This is the only picture i have of my car at the moment that one of my workmates took @E38: Martin

I work for HIC so if you want too PM me your number, i will give ya a bell and run through a quote for you? :)
-
You rang HIC for a quote and didnt speak to me? Im hurt.... :( just kiddin (no im not on commision either), glad you got a good quote!

I would definatly recommend getting an agreed value, the whole point of them is to give you the "enthusiast" value of your car as opposed to the "book" price. If you compare what these cars go for in the scene to the book value there is a huge difference and the whole point of agreed values is to give you what they are really worth to the right person. The way our agreed values are done is that we have a department at work whose whole job is to get all the mags, go to the shows, look at the cars for sale on specialist forums/mags/dealers etc and then compare them to the pictures/spec/condition of the car we are insureing and see is the stated value is right even if this is more than the book price. If agreed the they issue a valuation certicate garanteeing to pay you that amount in the event of a claim. Imo certainly worth a couple of extra ££ but at the end of the day, its up to you.... :)
-
You summed up my point perfectly, you only get one side of the story and from what i have read of it i get the impression there is a lot more to it, i mean insurance companies would not normally go to that extent to investigate a claim without good reason...... :)

I have made the last post on this other thread and if you read it HIC have nothing to do with this case and the guys problem is with an underwriter called Highway who people often seem to wrongly associate with HIC. Highway are one of the underwriters that HIC use but they are a massive company and probably most insurance brokers you will ring will have schemes through highway. I have started using this forum primarily as a new corrado owner and have previously used many other vw forums with my recently sold mk2 golf gti 8v turbo so i come on the forums as an enthusiast same as the rest of you not a spy (as cool as it sounds 8) )!! If i can offer any advice or get decent quotes for any fellow members then thats surely just a bonus, i dont get paid commision so i dont directly benefit but i would rather speak to fellow dubbers than others and if the company does get a few extra calls it keeps my boss happy and he overlooks me wasting half my time on the net! Im sorry to hear your experience of HIC wasnt great but unfortunatly you cant please everyone all the time and no-one likes insurance companies anyway! :( Hope that clears it up anyway......... :)

Im in Saffron Walden Phil, yourself?

lol that sums up the symptoms perfectly, i had a look at the shocks last night and they look fine so yeah it really does sound like the bushes! I saw a letter in one of the VW magazines which mentioned they were quite a common thing that needs doing on corrados. Cheers for all the replies everyone :D
-
doh, oh well i got the car cheap enough its not the end of the world....will get shocks checked 2mo then. Cheers for the reply and welcome!! 8)

picked my raddo up last night and overall i am very pleased with it however i have noticed that if you hit a bump mid corner the back end feels a bit twitchy. I was just wondering if this is a common fault and what could be causing it? Im sure its something simple such as bushes or something but this is the 1st time i have had a corrado and i have had it less than 24hrs so dont know that much about em yet.. Cheers Martin

some insurance companies will let you temporarily add another vehicle to your existing policy for a short period of time for a charge but it depands on the cover. I work at HIC insurance and we can also do short term policies, anything from 14days to 6months as long as you are 20 or over for tpft cover or 23+ for comprehensive... Dunno if thats any help to you but feel free to pm me or ring me if you want me to try and do you a quote for it! 8)
-
cheers! Its done 172K  but you really would not know from the condition of the car! Will get some pics up as soon as sony send back my digi camera which they are currently supposed to be fixing! Yeah will always try my best on the quotes, can usually get good deals for corrado's! 8) Martin

Right i have just signed up to the forum so thought i would say hello! My names is Martin (user names a bit of a giveaway), im 27 and from sunny essex and im making this sound a bit like blind date so moving on.... Ive been into VW's for years and last night i sold  my mk2 golf gti 8v turbo that i have owned for the last 2 1/2 years but went straight out and replaced it with an absolutly mint nugget yellow 1.8 16v corrado which i am chuffed to bits with 8) . Its a 1991 1.8 16v, totally standard (for now  ) with FSH and is in stunning condition as the prevoius mature owner had owned and garaged it for the last 12years and i managed to pick it up for what i thought was a bargain £1450. Also if anyone is interested i work for HIC insurance (08451 290 290) so if anyone needs a quote (i have already checked with the boss and can give a discount for forum members 8) ) or any insurance help then feel free to ask away and i will help if i can!! (and no im not on commision so the offer is not their for my personal gain :) ) Anyways im gonna stop ramblin and start exploring the rest of the forum!
