  1. I recently changed the rad in my G60 and we managed it without removing the front bumper. It was a bit fiddly but was possible (having access to a ramp at a friends garage helped though) - if I remember correctly we did unbolt the top of the slam panel to create a little more space.

  3. Selling a few 1/18 models over the next few days but these 2 may be of interest on here: Mk1 Golf http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251607588728?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_215wt_1063 Mk1 Rocco http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251607622114?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_177wt_1063 undecided yet whether the 1/18 Rado will be joining the clearout....
  4. I was slightly puzzled to see an elderly gent bending down peering closely at the back of my car as I returned to it after work last night (and a little concerned, hoping it had not been hit again). Turns out he was trying to read the badge to see what it was as he thought it was a "beautiful car" and how he liked the wheels etc and I should be proud. Spent about 5 mins chatting to him as he said he always owned Golfs and how much he used to "enjoy driving them round the back roads like something out of the WRC" :)
  5. Green VR6 on the A14 on Friday evening? exchanged thumbs up!
  6. If you want to pm me your number Bobby, I will get someone to call you and see if we can help. As stated above, classic insurance sounds like the best option. If the car kept on a drive / garage? Cheers Martin (@ HIC)
  7. As I cannot seem to find wheels for my R/C Corrado to match the real one, I decided to try and make the real one look a bit more like the R/C.... :)
  8. I belive it has to be to the closest mot station
  9. Still for sale, can take to Stanford hall on Sunday if needed
  10. Next was the car that got me into VW's big time, my mk2 8v with a diy Turbo conversion using the turbo from a pug 306 turbo diesel. Actually went really well and kept for over 3 years (which was a record for me at this point): Finally my first Corrado (around 2006/2007) - came up for sale local to me and had to have it. Was originally an 1800 KR but ended up putting a 2.0 16v ABF. Really loved this car and kept it even longer than the mk2 turbo: Thats not me btw.... Bought a couple of mk2's for silly cheap, the black one was sold on quickly, the red one was claimed by my wife who kept it for over a year: With Emma driving the red mk2 I decided I needed a sensible family car and bought a Bora, again got bored quickly: Swapped the Bora for an Oak green mk2 with almost 200k on the clock. Good car which I kept a couple of years and ended up looking like this: Also bought a mk1 to play with as well as the Oak Green mk2, sadly turned out to be very rotten and although it could have been saved I didnt have the time or resources at the time and broke it. Made a decent profit breaking it which helped getting the mk2 looking how it ended up: Again decided I wanted a modern car, again got bored quickly. Remapped A3 T-sport was very quick but no character: Really wanted another Corrado by now and a deal was done with the A3 for a red 16v. Loved the car but was somewhat unrealiable and really needed painting to get to the condition I wanted so sold it about 18 months ago: Which is when I purchased my current G60. No plans on changing this one anytime soon.
  11. Ok, here goes...As far as I can remember, although the order may be a little off... first car - Beige '82 Metro...shown after my first "off" when I was 17 mk3 Escort 1.3 with obligatory XR3i alloys and Peco big bore 4. I ended up rolling this car (18 at the time I think)... mk3 Escort XR3i, think I bought its for £50..discovered a buscuit tin riveted over a hole in the passenger side footwell.. mk3 XR3i again, I didnt learn! Much sweeter engine than the previous one but a total rot box.. Black XR2, a lot of fond memories of this car: 1600 Jetta, first VW, got bored very quickly I'm from Essex, naturally another XR3i was next: Series one RST, very cool, very fast....VERY unreliable! Almost cost me my job due to making me late so often! Ropey RS1600i...no pics at this point but I'll come back to this one.... Not sure what I was thinking....pov spec mk4 escort: White 309 GTI, my only French car ever, put me off french cars for good. No pic. Back to Fords with this XR2, always parked on a hill as rarely started in the mornings Then yet another XR2 fitted with mk3 XR2i front bumper, looked scary, possibly previously been in a crash as even scarier handling: BMW E30 318. My only RWD car but sadly without the power to enjoy it: The RS1600i I mentioned earlier? I sold to a mate who was kind enough to restore it for his wife. She hated it, I bought it back. Favourite non VW, would have another (alongside the Corrado) but rare and expensive now: Orion 1600i Ghia , bought so I didnt have to run the RS1600i daily. Drove approximately 2 miles before a deer ran out in the road, the modern volvo in front stopped, I didnt. This probably does not look great for someone who works in car insurance.... Back when I had the S1 RST, on one of the many occasions it was broken a workmate lent me his mk2 Golf GTI. I enjoyed driving it and it felt much better put together than the Fords which by now I was fed up with but wanted something a little more modern than the mk2. Sadly met its end in another collision with a deer (which also met its end).. tbc...

  13. Haha, I got told that when my G60 got hit and was given a baby blue Fiat 500!!!
  14. That was me :) Cheers, yours looked great on the move!
  15. Standard Corrado 3 spoke leather steering wheel. I've always thought these were one of the best factory VW steering wheels. The steering wheel is not perfect but is in very good condition in my opinion. There is only slight wear to the leather but there are a couple of minor scratches and a slight knick in the leather near the bottom of the wheel - I've tried to show the defects as best I can but am happy to send more pics if required :) . The horn works fine. No retaining bolt / washer. £40 collected (Nr Stansted airport, CB11) or £50 posted. Can also be collected from Ultimate Dubs this weekend if required.
  16. Does not have to be a second vehicle but it usually helps :)
  17. Even the youngest Corrado's should qualify for classic insurance now especially if its a second car on limited mileage as you state. As mentioned above, no claims bonus usually makes little or no difference on a classic policy although it is sometime possible to mirror no claims bonus. I could get someone to give you a bell if you like? Cheers Martin
  18. I suspect that might have been me mate as I went up the side of the common then turned left down church street before spotting this as I was about to pull out onto the high street :)
