I will just reply on here to prevent it getting too confusing then. I can see you are a long standing customer and it is unfortunate that you had to cancel so soon into the policy but outside the cooling off period. I would not be pleased put in the same situation myself so understand why you are not happy but also can see that the operator dealt with your renewal did advise of it as she was required to. This is why the calls are recorded and audited regularly to ensure the staff are giving all the required information and had it not been the case I would have also made sure that we held our hands up too it. I will see if there is anything else that can be done when I'm back tomorrow and we would gladly welcome you back again as a customer in the future. Feel free to drop me a pm. Your car used to be faily local to me (Mics old rado?) and one of the few other Corrado's I used to spot fairly regularly! Martin

As some on here are aware, as well as currently owning a Corrado, I also work for HIC so have had a look into this. The underwriters we use give much cheaper rates on classic insurance but there are terms and conditions to these cheaper prices and one of these is they are non refundable, this is the case with many classic insurers. As we are just the broker we do not have a say in these charges so we are very careful to make sure that our customers are aware of the charges. All our calls are recorded so we have checked the call to ensure this was advised to you and it was stated when you renewed the policy that it was non refundable and that you had a 14 day cooling off period. Obviously had we been aware of your intention to cancel then we could have placed you with a different underwriter who would have offered a refund but the quote would have been higher to start with. I do sympathise with your situation and can understand why you are unhappy, however it is not actually our terms that the policy is non refundable, this is set by the Underwriter (Highway in this case, but as I mentioned, many Classic policies are the same) and we did advise of this when you renewed the policy. I will gladly see if there is anything else that can be done when I'm back in the office tomorrow and I can arrange for a copy of the call recording to be sent out to you if you wish?

Blue VR (I think), reg ending ENG just outside Brandon (Norfolk) at about 2.30pm ish today - I was on my way home from a weeks holiday in north Norfolk and this was the only one I spotted. Didn't flash / wave as was in the our "family" car (mondeo estate) as the Corrado sadly could not manage luggage for 4 for a week and 4 bikes!
-
Maybe its this? I'm also off to Norfolk for a week soon and would love to take the Corrado but unfortunately the practicality if taking 2 adults and 2 children with a weeks worth of luggage means we will be going in the Mondeo Estate! Other than a couple of local ones who are fairly regular spots and going to shows, I've not seen any out an about for a while...

I thought I would have a look at this on the system at work out of interest. Obviously it will vary with different companies (it even varied on our system with the various underwriters we use) so may be different with your own insurer and there are loads of other factors (vehicle age, value, security etc) that can effect the premium other than just vehicle group. A normal VR6 and VR6 storm came out the same on most of the Classic policies, so I looked at the groupings on a "normal" policy with a couple of the major underwriters (we use a 1-50 group scale): VR6 Storm grp 46 VR6 grp 43 (auto/manual the same) G60 grp 37 2.0 16v grp 37 1.8 16v grp 30 2.0 8v grp 32

I thought it was a great weekend :) Some more pics here (sorry if I didn't get a pic of your Corrado but I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to walk round due to working at the show): mine minime winner in the show and shine I believe? -
Not much to update on the G60, so thought I would post up the build on my other Corrado project. A mate gave me an old 1/10th RC car he no longer used: fitted some new rims to it: Then got bought this by another friend for my Birthday: initially painted in Ford Graphite Grey as I was struggling to get hold of Pearl Grey, the colour was close to pearl grey but the finish was rubbish from a rattle can: Then I remembered there was a small amount of paint left from when I had the front end of the G60 repaired from the hit and run. Rubbed down and back to the bodyshop :) : Almost finished, just got a few details to paint and the spoiler to fit. I have some Carbon Vinyl wrap to do the spoiler and may even see if I can make it moveable: and one with the real one: I could not find any 1/10 wheels to match my alloys so may have to get some alloys to match the RC! :)

It sounds ok to me (I'm no expert but similar to how mine runs and I've had no problems). I recently fitted the low temp fan switch and thermostat which have helped cool things down as was running hot before (hotter than you state your is)...although this may have been partially due to the fan being wired the wrong way round by the previous owner! The genuine parts are apparently still available through Volkswagen but my local dealer were no help finding them (said they could not get them at all) so I ended up buying them through AwsomeGTI http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk2?subpart=442 I later found out from someone else on another forum that worked for VW that the genuine parts should not be a problem to get and he kindly even offered to source them for me but I had already bought them so if you insist on genuine parts its worth being persistent. I'll try and find the part numbers if needed. ---------- Post added at 12:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 AM ---------- It sounds ok to me (I'm no expert but similar to how mine runs and I've had no problems). looks great Jim and impressive work taking on the engine swap yourself. I presume that was you I passed in Clavering earlier? I had the family with me and my daughter was struggling to understand why myself and my little boy got excited about seeing another Corrado on the road and why we waved! Trying to get the photo locations again - under the bridge in Newport above, then upstairs in Waitrose carpark and the corner or the Carpark at the shop in Clavering on the previous page? :) ---------- Post added at 11:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:29 PM ---------- looks great Jim and impressive work taking on the engine swap yourself. had a great day - my first time at Stanford Hall and I would say its now my favourite show! Fantastic turnout on the CCGB stand (big thanks to those who organised it) and nice to catch up with some familiar faces and meet some new ones. I would have likes to spend a little more time on the stand but the lure of the go-karts and the bouncy castle meant my boy kept dragging me away (thanks to Wendy (I think) for supplying him with cake and a balloon - he was very pleased). I've got quite a few pics but cant upload them until I find my SD card reader!

anyway, back to the G60... The car has always run hot since I had it but I had been told G60's do this anyway but then recently I noticed a bit of steam coming out of the grill when I got caught in a traffic jam for a bit so thought it wise to investigate further! A bit of research and helpful advice from the guys over on dubforce, I decided a low temp fan switch and thermostat would be a good start. Having been told the part numbers I needed, I called my local dealers who were not particularly helpful and told me the fan switch was not available to order (only to be told later by Matt from "Only Charged Dubs", that he was able to get hold of them via a different main dealer if needed) but by then I had already ordered them from Awesome GTI http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk2?subpart=442 As usual, thanks to Steve (twin45) for help fitting the bits. Once fitted, we ran the car up to temperature until the fan cut in....only to find rather than drawing cold air from outside through the engine bay, it had been incorrectly wired up by the previous owner so was blowing warm air through the rad! No wonder the car had been running hot! The water temp is now nice and cool during normal driving, and barely creeping above halfway when sitting with the fan cutting in correctly! This has obviously helped lower the oil temp too although I will be fitting an oil cooler too. While we were at it, we finally fitted my new rocker cover to replace the nasty red one. Although it looks much better, it seems the tabs to fit the cambelt cover have been shaved off in the past so leaving it fitted while the orginal one is blasted and can then be painted a more subtle colour and refitted with the cam cover: also a couple of other bits and bobs fitted: Wiper motor cover (avaialble from VW for about £10 3A2 955 128) Door lock covers which i did not even know were missing! Kindly donated by steve: Fitted a solid front engine mount yesterday as mine was nailed, and some 8mm high performance ignition leads: Also picked up a Mocal Oil Cooler but yet to fit: few more pics Really looking forward to the big display at Stanford Hall this Sunday! :)

Let us know when you are back round this way. haha, sorry buddy - Steve really wanted the Brock from the Red valver so I didn't get much choice! I love the seats though! ---------- Post added at 10:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:03 PM ---------- I did think it may have been easier but it was a "mates rates" repair and i'm very pleased with the job he did for the price so cant grumble :) ---------- Post added at 10:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 PM ---------- Sadly, the red valver did not get the same love after I sold it and now looks like this :( still plenty of useful parts on there though (see the breaking thread on here by "twin45") so hopefully will help keep some others on the road! Some nice bits still available too like the half leather seats etc.

Elemental show next weekend! Normally a good little show, new location this year and the weather is looking promising. Full details here: http://www.elementalvw.org.uk/ Some pics from previous years: https://www.facebook.com/HertsInsurance?ref=hl#!/media/set/?set=a.326448880753886.73369.117443104987799&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/HertsInsurance?ref=hl#!/media/set/?set=a.147552885310154.31125.117443104987799&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/HertsInsurance?ref=hl#!/media/set/?set=a.117929578272485.15016.117443104987799&type=3

I had to work and only got too look round briefly but still had a good weekend and enjoyed the show. It was nice to meet a few of you. Some of my pics (apologies for the i-phone quality): The rest of the pics I have uploaded so far are here: http://photobucket.com/HICUD2013 (all i-phone pics unfortunately until I find the lead for my camera!).

I thought it was you (and I did notice the need for a wash haha) :)

M***DGF dark green VR just now in Newport, Essex. Didn't wave as was in the wife's mondeo!

I use my G60 daily and (*touch wood*) its never let me down yet. I sometime wish I didnt have too, especially at this time of year when I find a new stone chip etc. Probably the worst part of using it daily is having to leave it in a public car park during the day when I'm at work, as most of the people that seem to use these near my workplace are morons who cannot drive and think nothing of hitting your car and driving off!!

I've never been convinced by the accuracy of howmanyleft myself :) I would love to know the whereabouts of my old Nugget Yellow ABF engined one (I could have been tempted to buy it back before i bought the G60) H875 GJN: More recently my Red 16v G149 KOG, I did make contact with some previous owners on here and enjoyed seeing all the old pics. Seems this one was a bit of a Corrado whore though as numerous people who had previous owned it came over at shows or when i had it for sale: Also any previous owners of my current G60 on here? H103 YYR: :)
