Cheers guys, I know what you're saying and I really don't want to sell it as I feel I'm only halfway to where I wanted to get it. But now my folks have moved from a couple of miles away to a 2 hours drive I've lost my workshop and with no drive, no garage and no prospect of getting it stored somewhere so I can do the work needed. I walk to work, live in the middle of the city so cycle most places and the wifes diesel gets used for long journeys so I'm stuggling to justify having it parked up not being used. Hopefully someone will see it's a bargain and finish it off to where it could be an outstanding example of a modified (appropriately IMO) Corrado.

I'll PM you mate, maybe do a deal with those solitudes you're currently running as I've not got any other wheels at the moment.

Ok possibly. How desperate are you for them as I've just put up a for sale thread for my car so if its ok with you I'll let it run for a week and if no interest I'll whip the wheels/brakes off for you? Sound fair?

Yeah get an engine, loads of them about and a like for like swap can be done in a day if you can get a spare pair of hands to help.

Morning all. Not sure if the mods will just close this thread off but I'm trying to gauge whether its worth me attempting to sell my car or not. Using the new classified section is great and all but its hard to judge potential interest as no one seems to comment or ask queries. Unfortunately circumstances over the past few months mean I've been debating selling the C, even to the point where I put an ad up before but had zero interest. Bit of background on the car - 94 VR6 now with a 2.8 24v conversion done by DG, car has done 146k miles but engine has done roughly 35k and is absolutely perfect. Mechanically the car is spot on but bodywork wise it needs some work on a rear arch and has a number of scratches that need tidying up. Better spec in my signature and full run down of issues in my members thread (which i'll link when I'm on a proper computer rather than my phone) I put it up at £5k ono before which would now appear to be a little high but I didn't have a single enquiry, having spoken to various people it probably needs £800 spent on the body which I don't have the time to sort so I'm thinking an offer just over £4k is more realistic..... but would that actually be of interest to anyone? Given the fact it would cost someone more than that to get the conversion done I think this is fair. I also really love this car and will be genuinely upset to see it go (but needs must) so I'm not going to let it go for pennies so if potentially interested parties would like to post in here and I'll put up a proper ad if there is any interest. Also if I'm being unrealistic on price, peoples opinions are welcome as always. Conversely, if there is no interest I won't bother and I'll have to come up with a new plan of action to store it somewhere. Cheers, Mic.

This is what I'm after. I've got engine conversion, brakes and alloys (plus some extras) and last years ins was £420, if premiums have genuinely increased by 25-40% I'm looking at over £500 now which IMO is a joke. Roll on July!

Out of interest, what kinds of prices are folks paying since the premium increases? What mods you're running would be nice as well.

I like to think I've been honest about any problems when people have asked, the problem with bodywork & paint is it scares people witless. Guess I'll just be keeping mine and sorting the bodywork myself! Lol

If I'm reading your scenario right, and I hope I'm not, you got hit then preceded to chase them down the road in a 30 zone, overtake them and then brake in front of them forcing them to stop? Yes? To be honest mate I think you'll be lucky to get anything from the insurance, I'd also worry that if it did go to court or they involved the police you'd be up for dangerous driving and without due care & attention. And then you say they've got witnesses, plus your posting of your actions on a public forum that anyone can read? Seriously, have you taken a lot of hits to the head during your life?

Have a hunt on autotrader/ebay etc. if you don't restrict yourself just to VAG (ie pay a premium) will get something easily, and if you scrap it in 18months who gives a monkeys as you'll have still saved maybe £2k... i know that's what I'd do.

Ok, it's currently costing you £500 a month in fuel using the G60, if you got a tdi capable of 45mpg you'd be spending ~£280 a month, so over the year saving ~£2600 right? If I was you i'd be buying a £300 tdi with a years tax/mot, run it until it dies (could get a couple of years if you're lucky) and then buy another. Why people insist on buying fancy cars just to pile on miles and lose money hand over fist is beyond me..... plus you get to keep the G for the weekends, got to be a option surely??
