  1. Picking up engine number 3 this week, this one has full service history, 50k and I've got a video of it running. Let's hope this is the one!
  2. Where do you even look for these rare wheels!? I've been after some wheels for years, can never find a set I like
  3. No, that's the wire that tells the ecu to start if I recall correctly. I had a go at figuring out what wire was what last night but couldn't fathom it without looking at my loom. Have you had a look at the wiring diagrams on rubjonnys page?
  4. Hey all, hoping I can pick some brains. I've recently found out my Audi A3 3.2 engine is now an EX engine, it is no more, if I hadn't shoved 12v through it, it would be pushing up the daisies. Anyway, on the search for another engine but just wanting to check which engine I can use. The idea is to swap all sensors from top end over and if necessary the top timing chain cover and run it off A3 ECU which I have de-immobilised now. Does anyone know if this is possible or any hurdles I may encounter
  5. Big end shells are completely destroyed, at least 3 have span, think only 1 of the 6 still have the locating tabs! Crank is scored as well, havn't even looked at top end but isn't really much point in rebuilding. Will just pull it to bits and sell any parts that are OK. Absolutely gutted but unfortunately crap happens, just have to move onwards and hope third time lucky! One good thing is I only need a bare block now and I'll just swap everything over (sensors etc). Hopefully that should work!
  6. Well pretty bad news from yesterday, as some of you know I had it fired up but was making a rather nasty noise, well had it apart and the bottom end is completely destroyed, oil pump has seized and looks like it's been driven 30 miles dry. I'm absolutely devastated but on the lookout for a new engine now
  7. Yea that's the one I was talking about. I don't know whether to try running it for that bit longer to try get oil pumped all round or start stripping stuff down. I just don't get why when I raise the revs the noise goes away. Next steps are to bleed the clutch fully so I can rule out gearbox, then drop oil to check for swarf and maybe even remove sump. I'm almost tempted to try running it that little longer to make sure oil is warmed and round the engine properly In the video I'm sat underneath the engine so sounds pretty bad anyway, but it's the squeaking/creaking noise I'm taking about
  8. Not sure if this will work as I'm on my Mobile but this is a video from tonight, had the starter motor out and seems fine, checked the rear tensioner and that seems spongy, not like the vr6 tensioner so might need replacing. I turned the engine over, didn't even bother firing it up as I reckon this is the noise, seems to be coming from bottom end/gearbox. Anyone any ideas? If it doesn't work here is the direct link http://vid6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/swiftkid/Mobile%20Uploads/VIDEO0006_zps9e1ba08f.mp4
  9. Hehe, that would be nice but sounds more metallic screeching than just plastic or belt slipping. Been speaking to a couple of people that think it could be starter
  10. I've taken the belt off and tried that so should have taken water pump and pas out of the equation
  11. Hey all, I'm doing an R32 conversion to my rado at the moment, using the VR6 gearbox. I fired it up over the weekend and to my delight it fired up (after a bit of faffing with fuel filter), unfortunately my delight was short lived after it started making a horrible screeching noise. The scenario goes, I span the engine over without the ECU plugged in for a while to make sure their was oil around the engine, no noise, fired it up and the screeching starts, raise the revs slightly (don't know what rpm as the tacho doesn't seem to be working) and the noise almost stops. Its not a constant noise like a bearing, I've had my ear next to the sump and turned it over by hand and there seems to be a creaking noise coming from the sump but its only a faint noise and obviously could just be echoing something from further up. I've had the rocker cover off and it doesn't seem to be filled with as much oil as I'd expect, usually the head bolts are filled to the top with oil but they are only half full. But I havn't ran it for longer than about 20-30 seconds. It doesn't knock so tells me it may not be the bottom end. At the moment without starting to rip the engine apart properly I'm drawn towards starter motor and oil pump, anyone got any other ideas? I do need to check clutch release bearing but its not a whiring noise and was fine last year in my gearbox
  12. How did the fitment go? Also how much were the fans in total? Havnt actually checked
  13. I'm presuming this is a G60 as its early spec but I don't remember seeing anything like that in my valver. Does it come out the front of inlet manifold? Vacuum pipe to the brake servo? Second as Fla says is diagnostic port
  14. You moved jobs Chris or you at same spot? I might have missed something but are you trialing the fans with the brackets or the brackets on the rad? I'm in Beverley with my radiator out of the car so not that far away but I don't finish in Market Weighton until 5
  15. Haha it was indeed, I'll have to apologise for ranting on for so long, I don't half talk some crap at times!
  16. Some nice pics there, and who's that handsome chap looking at the white corrado 3rd pic from the bottom... That would be me haha! My mates old car that he built then sold on. Was a good event, chatted to a few corrado guys, spoke to the guy that now owns n16evr and the guy that owned the red 16v on Schmidts. Some stunning cars and fast ones as well!
  17. Ahh nuts, I would have taken the lights. Can I get in line please
  18. Think halfords are the laser ones! But that's what I use as well and does the job nicely.
  19. This is how mine sits at the moment, not exactly ideal
  20. Glad its gone to a good home, kind of glad its not local anymore... put mine to shame! It is funny how cars seem to get passed around forum members these days
  21. Fanjita are you talking about the MAF pipe or the power steering line?
  22. Cheers guys, i'll have to go measure up the size I need now. Any input on previous question about power steering hardline pipe?
  23. Quick one, the MAF on my 3.2 is bigger than the VR6 so I need a bigger piece of silicone piping to connect BMC to, it is currently stepped down onto the MAF so presume this will just be a straight piece. Where is everyone buying there piping from? Only need a short stubby piece but may consider getting a 180 bend and running the pipework round the back to original vr6 position.

    O2 sensor

Sounds suspiciously like maf to me, those things are sneaky little gits! Try to put the blame on lambdas!
  25. Why? I know of a lot of people that would answer no to owning a corrado yet here we are... A bunch of corrado owners. Smooth bays are an art, you can either make a hash of it, overdo it or do it just right. I see some bays where it's smoothed so much that they are having engine issues whilst other bays are tidied and look fantastic whilst still functioning 100%, that is my future aim!
