The bracket next to your middle finger? If I remember correctly it sort of clips inside the hole in the rear beam to secure the suspension bolt... if that makes sense
-
Just an fyi, a late style grill won't just fit straight in. I wanted to fit an early 7 slat into my late VR and the early has 2 tabs on the top and bottom whereas the late has 3 (if i remember correctly). Plus they are offset a little differently so don't line up with the lights perfectly... or as near as a corrado does anyway!
-
Nice corrado! They are crystals tinted red, I did some for mine a while ago. Came out really well but didn't seem to suit my red rado, take a look at philvr6, he has my old ones and they suit his blue car very well!

Couple of questions, the power steering pipe doesn't seem to fit very well against the block, it sort of sits underneath the engine instead. anyone else had any fitment issues? I'm also experiencing a bit of a problem with the power steering pipe sitting against the cooler exchange pipes... and the t-piece I have for the oil sensors are right up against them as well!!! I have opted to use the 24v heat exchanger btw. Another thing is, I was going to keep the carbon canister but where does the pipework go to?
-
If Chris or anyone else is wanting to make them and there is a demand I'm happy to draw them up, revotec have dimensions on their website I have used for the brackets. My radiator is out at the moment so I'll get some more dimensions tomorrow. Like I said, I've got them drawn up but I want to check they are correct size before I send the drawing out. It will be in any format you want, it's drawn in 3d so ipt, dwg, dxf etc
-
I've just drawn the brackets up in CAD (well inventor), just wanting to double check the fitment before anything is made properly. I've designed them based on a 9" and 11" fan which I presume is what most people go for?
-
Ray, what format does the printer use for the images? I use Autodesk Inventor at work so can produce inventor files, step files etc. I've also got autodesk 360 which allows me to take pictures of an object and create a 3D image, havn't played with it much but it might be of some use. Would be massively interested in making a 'VR32' badge up though for my R32 Rado

Hey all, I'm after a VR6 top hose, its for a 24v conversion so will be cutting the smaller part of the hose so will take ones damaged at the end of the smaller pipe etc. Also after a brake vacuum pipe, again its for cutting up so don't need to full length. Cheers, Dave

The port underneath the gearstick gator is your diagnostic plug... the original one! Perhaps give that a go? Do you mean rev counter (tacho) isn't working? If so it is canbus but apparently the ECU does send a signal out. You can either get a canbus converter or stick an extra wire in the ECU, which is what I've done but I have heard it can cause the needle to be a little bouncy. It does sound like the install is a bit of a bodge, which I have heard some horror stories doen by PSI, one of the original conversions perhaps?
-
They do use canbus but from what I have heard they still send out the non canbus signal. But that is besides the point, the complete corrado abs system is unchanged by the swap, no wiring is touched
-
Bit weird that, the r32 conversion has nothing to do with the abs, it's completely separate in terms of wiring. Just to check the wiring, there is a brown 2 pin plug underneath the dash with a grey/white wire and a yellow wire, the grey is your k-line (diagnostic) is anything connected? I'll check the wiring later tonight on my laptop

Wow, just saw the ad, where did that come from?

Thing is Sean, the intention is to get a custom manifold made that fits perfect unlike dubpower. I'd rather not spend 40-100 on the mk4, to then spend 320 on United motorsports manifold. It's quite a lot of money to be spending before the engine is even running! I would prefer a nice stainless 6 branch but like I said, most of the things I've heard about dubpower is that it's a lovely bit of kit but designed for mk2 golf so tends to hit the steering rack etc
-
All I've ever heard about dubpower is that they are a lovely bit of kit, but don't quite fit corrados. The United motorsport downpipe is made for mk4 manifold, mine is a mk5 which is similar to the vr standard manifold
-
Any thought about producing a 24v conversion manifold? I'm in the market for one at the moment but the options available at the moment are all unsuitable - a poor fitting mk2 24v conversion manifold and a good quality but expensive downpipe which only fits mk4 manifold, not mk5 like mine.

Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Fair enough, well if you need any drawings doing to send to engineering companies let me know. I work on CAD so can do 2D and 3D drawings, in fact if you would be so kind to let me know some dimensions I can draw some up anyway for mine :thumbleft: -

Worth a note, it won't work with obd1 but if you are obd2 it's pretty good! Handy to have in your car, I use it with torque pro Android app -

What are you doing about the brackets? Slimline fans are something I'll have to do with the r32 I reckon. -
Got any pictures of that area? Just trying to sort last few bits out and I'm presuming I'll need to cut my vacuum hose and join it with something.
-
There are a few pipes on the back of the inlet, what are each for? 1 will be for brake servo vacuum I presume but can't find any pictures to show what the rest are connected to. Might just be me being daft... I did take a picture to remind myself, think there are 4?

My final attempt to make a working car! 3.2 24v Rado
swiftkid replied to borachris's topic in Members Gallery
I realise this is becoming part of the 24v conversion thread but to continue on, for the wiring I have soldered up the 2 SAI relay wires together so they will activate if needs be but there won't be a relay in between for them to do anything with. I've asked for my SAI to be removed but all the wiring remains so if I need to I can ask for it to be put back on and should work. The reason I opted for this was that people have suggested putting a 330ohm resistor in the circuit to make the ECU believe the SAI is still there, other people have said this causes little glitches. the problem I have with the SAI is that Vince has said it needs to stay whereas United Motorsport have said it can be removed, both highly reputable companies so I decided I would try it out and get it removed. If it turns out to be a problem the wiring is still there, it will just need connecting but as I have done my wiring I know exactly where everything is. -
My final attempt to make a working car! 3.2 24v Rado

From what I have read and been told, the SAI can be mapped out of the ECU without problems. I have had it explained to me but the SAI is for heating the cat up quicker so it is only functioning on warm up anyway. Apparently, it won't allow the car to map itself like the VR6 does, but I'm yet to be told why. Basically when the car learns lambda values, MAF values etc it can almost adapt itself to use the fuel more efficiently. -
Going to be spending the day connecting everything up this weekend, if I get my ECU back I may even be able to give the key a turn. I've saved as many pictures of peoples R32 bay as I can but has anyone got a load of photo's of their build, just in case I get stuck. Think I'm looking for pipes/hoses/blanking plates etc.
-
I've got a sip low profile jack and it's a monster, paid around 100 for it but the build quality is fantastic and it's very sturdy, I don't have that worry about it tipping over or lowering itself down like the crappy halfords stuff I've had before. To me, you buy a decent jack and it will last a lifetime. Edit: http://www.sipuk.co.uk/sip-03914-2-5-ton-low-profile-trolley-jack.html

My final attempt to make a working car! 3.2 24v Rado

I believe you only need to change the relay under certain circumstances, something to do with whether the ECU relay is earth triggered. My Audi A3 BDB engine is earth triggered so I don't need to change the relay. After reading this I'm kind of glad I didn't go SWICT, i had spoke to him a few years back and was confident with his work but after hearing he is now charging double what I previously got quoted I was put off.
