You can't take the front cross member off because the front engine mount is bolted to it, you would need to support the engine in order to remove it. you also have a power steering pipe going through the cross member so you'd need to disconnect that to take it off completely

Looking good, havn't seen it for a while guess with winter here its tucked away! Yes they are most likely tight, could try give them a WD and then use a wrecker bar, the condition of your car I doubt they will cause too much problems *touch wood*. Just remember to leave the middle bolt alone, last thing you want is the engine dropping on you!!!

Simple thing to check first off, has the big plug in the back of the clocks come undone? you can reach it if you take off the under dash panels, just make sure its properly clipped in. If its not that, could possibly be a fuse?
-
Just an FYI, there are 4 10mm plastic nuts at the top you take off first, then take plenty of time, bit of hot water/heat gun, knife/fishing wire or similar and slowly pry off. Be VERY careful though, not too much force as the sides start to crack first.

Something just doesn't sit right with me on this car, its a VR6 with what looks like early interior, early front bumper and I want to say one of the front arches look like an early as well. Then he has a 7 slat grille which doesn't fit the late slam panel so hes either hacked the grill apart or its an early slam panel in which case it suggests a front end smash... Then as Kev says, if its such a cheap fix then why not fix it, especially seeing as its literally the first part of the car you touch to get into the thing! Not exactly a good first impression, "heres the car but you can't get into it because the handle is bust" Edit: also is that an early headlight switch in there? Looks a right mongrel!

I'm there in the next week for mapping and counting of horses... can't wait although I'm a little nervous after all my hard work and money he's going to tell me its running 150bhp or something!
-
Whats your live name matt? Yea I have that with a mate of mine, but with speed camera speed lol.

Yep bought it and been playing it, the rado sounds very VR6-ish in the cutscenes but not on the road, the one you get at first is supercharged but doesn't sound any different after a turbo swap. It is a shame you can't make them 4wd anymore or stick the R32 engine in them, seems like forza went a bit backwards there. Also yan, I have a new router!!! so hopefully no more messing about if we have another corrado league, just need to buy xbox live now!

Once Rorgasm is sorted with his stuff I'm after the centre-left vent if anyone has that one. Saves me starting another thread!

Went to my local car meet the other day, dubs not clubs. Apparently the meet is being put in scene status magazine, not sure what that is but got an absolute cracking shot out of it! picture below. I only gave it a quick wash beforehand, wished I had given it a right good polish and wax now. Not much to mention about updates, put some 263 cams in that were bought in the group buy and its booked in for a bit of mapping next month so looking forward to finally seeing how much bhp its putting out. Although being the idiot that I am, I'm considering ripping the engine out and finally going R32. I've got to a point where I can no longer tune the engine anymore with bolt on mods and it becomes very expensive past this point. Also found some pictures from the original advert, looking a bit rustic and unloved, shes come a long way!! but I'm soo chuffed with it, everytime I drive it it puts a massive smile on my face. Then: Engine in the rear, and not in the good way! Now :) :

Absolutely love your car, was a big inspiration for my first corrado and probably made me go the direction I did with my current one. Looks soo sick dropped on its backside!

I've heard good things about dubpowers HT leads, and a good price as well Dubpower -
Ahh then hello to corrado ownership and goodbye to the contents of your wallet lol. Yes, vagcom is vag diagnostics, mine is a cheap cable off ebay for a fiver or so and then I downloaded vcds-lite off ross-tech's website, it's a sort of demo version that gives you all the codes but doesn't tell you what they are... then you just google the codes and hey ho presto... problem solved! hehe
-
Have you had it on vagcom? probably your best start. I think the oil light flashes anyway when the engine is off. Could be immobiliser related, could be crank sensor, could be a few things really but vagcom should tell you what the problem is!
-
I'm a bit confused... are they not the same wheels as you had? saw it parked up the other day at your work, looks very clean, wish I could keep mine that clean!
-
Its part of the header tank I believe, could it be that there is an airlock in the system? you could try running the car (from cold) with the expansion cap off for a short time, don't let it overflow just run the engine for a few minutes. Otherwise you could have a duff sensor, or a bad connection, maybe wd40 it and clip it back on securely.

Daily on and off for the past 4 years, took it off the road for a full respray and took my time putting it back together, now back in daily but hopefully not for long. Absolutely love driving it and makes me smile everytime I get in it but makes me sad that britains roads are absolute crap, don't want it wrecking all the hard work i've put into it, plus with a cheap daily I'll have more money to spend on it :)

Ahem... like this one BILLZEEBUB? ;) Been getting quite a few chufties over the last few months, started a new job in quite a big office with a not soo big car park right in front of the entrance to the building, I get in quite early so get a spot everyday. As people have been finding out who owns the 'very shiny red vw' I've been getting some nice comments. Today as I drove in a little kid was walking out the car park that had a good stare at my car, later that day I had a woman tell me when I drove in her son had turned around and said "wow, that car looks awesome" and she continued to say how it looked soo fantastic. Glad the people I work with have taste!

Attacking the heater matrix tomorow..Any tips and hints??
swiftkid replied to MedwayCorrado's topic in Engine Bay
Haha have you filled the rear of your dash with wool? I'm betting you had at least 1 screw left over after you had finished. I swear one day I'll have enough bolts and screws to build another corrado... from my own corrado. -

swiftkid replied to MedwayCorrado's topic in Engine Bay
Yea, thats what I thought at first but I have a huge phobia (perhaps not phobia but absolute huge hatred) of squeaks and rattles and to me, once something comes out, the likelihood of it going back in the same way and not squeaking is minimal so gave it a go without taking the dash out and thankfully managed it. There is a special tool for those clips that I have been meaning to buy for the last 4 years lol -

Congratulations, did mine not too long ago and it is a pain but a relief when its done! mine was done with the dash in and I honestly cannot understand what all the fuss is about having to take the dash out, I had the matrix in and out about 3-4 times before I was happy that everything was back into place properly and it is a little fiddly but nothing compared to those bloody constant tension clips when someone has put them on upside down!!! -
Well to be honest I'm not counting on even getting in a car park and with soo many people wandering around I'm not sure I'd even like to be in with the main crowd, I'm mainly going to obviously show support and also see the cars that are going. People can't turn you away from Huddersfield, there will be a place to park somewhere. Have you taken a look at some of the cars supposedly attending? If it turns out well then this will likely be the first car meet I've been to in years where its an actual car meet as opposed to a dub meet or a jap meet etc.

Sounds earth related, have a look at the earth wire on the starter motor and the chassis leg and just make sure it hasn't gone all crusty or ganky. It doesn't sound fuel pump related because its just cutting out as its starting. If anything its going to be starter motor related, could be alarm related because its like its cutting all power suddenly. Definitely not spark plug, coil or injectors because its it would just spin over and not start.
