  1. Well been an eventful couple of days, MOT is coming up so been buying some parts for a good service and a couple of bits i needed for MOT. Decided i would switch from semi synthetic to fully synthetic but i wanted to use the right stuff so been trying to do a bit of research before i bought any. Had just ran out of semi-synthetic and funds were running a tad bit low this month so bought some semi-synthetic to get me by until i got chance to buy some oil. Next thing, im driving home on my way home from work, same main road i have driven down for about a year after just overtaking a truck and went over a bump which bottomed the car out and split my sump. OH FFS!!! So £100 lighter i have had to buy a new sump, yet more oil and have to drain out the brand new oil i've only just put in whilst also putting it through MOT, tax and insurance. To say im skint is an understatement!!! The thing is my car is low but not stupid and it was only the 3rd time i've ever hit my sump, think i've just been really unlucky and landed on a rock or something as it dented the sump right in front of the plug and just cracked it rather than scraping. Nevermind eh!

    VR6 sump

Quick question, i would imagine it to be the case but can anyone confirm if the Galaxy VR6 sump is the same as the corrado's? I managed to smash my sump last night and going to be calling round at lunch for a replacement but ford seem to be cheaper for parts than vw for exactly the same thing.
  3. Thats pretty dam impressive if you have bent a crank! what gives you the impression its bent?
  4. When i bought my vr6 i was told by several people its mandatory to replace the air filter  It most probably causes less power but the sound is soo worth it!!!
  5. yea read that thread but as above we can't get it upto temp to get it setup
  6. Yea checked the fifth injector first of all and its working fine with a good healthy spray pattern. Everywhere i have read has said to tune it when warm to 2% CO so we were going to take it down to put it on emissions machine but just can't get it there lol. Well we were fiddling with it last night but he has a cherry bomb and a screeching alternator belt so at 10 o'clock parked next to a house with small children that we had just woken up and were crying in the front room we decided to stop the trial and error method  Will give it another go tonight but just hoping someone can give us a base setup to at least get it running without stalling so we can tune it from there. If not it will be another night of trial and error. Im glad im not one of his neighbours, mind you im glad im not one of my neighbours!!!
  7. Im after a bit of help with setting up a 1.8 16v engine. My mate has just put a 1.8 16v engine into his scirocco and we have had some running problems with it but last night after a bit of process of elimination we found that one of the fuel pipes wasn't bringing fuel up to the metering head sufficiently (presumably has corroded or has something is loose) so we swapped the fuel pipes round and started first time. Now the problem we have is that one of my mates had been fiddling with the C02 screw and the idle screw was loose so they both are in no way setup in any way, shape of form so once the car starts up it goes lumpy then stalls almost straight away, we can catch it if we raise the rpm by revving but its difficult to keep it runing but its in no way driveable. Does anyone know a base setup for the screws? like 2 turns from tight etc. just to get us somewhere like as once we have it running and up to temp we should be able to sort the rest out. Cheers
  8. Any significant changes other than the noise? any power loss, has the engine been using any oil or water? has the engine still got any oil/water in it, what colour is the oil? Does it sound like a scooby? Is it on idle or when driving?
  9. Thats weird, how long have you had it and were abouts do you live? I live in beverley, up lincoln way and i have never seen you! I've got a red VR with black wheels and just lowered for now. Seen a dark blue VR once on the move and twice parked up near grammer school.
  10. Are you the guy with the black rado on 'standard height' as my gf puts it. She says shes seen it twice, once as i was pulling out of lincoln way roundabout but i didn't see it! Are you a beverley lad then? That would make 3 rado's in beverley i know of.

    Wires

    what do they go to?
  12. colour change?! now that really does suprise me, white looks fantastic. Agree with you on changes to the boot but i really think the bonnet suits the car. I want your doors as well lol!
  13. ooh big plans then? care to give us any hints?
  14. sorry still unsure of what you mean, is it the brake shield? if so why not just remove it?
  15. Am i thinking of the rears then? im fairly sure mk4 carriers and discs have a different offset to mk3s/corrado's was under the impression to get over this you use corrado carriers. nevermind if its a mk3 though What do you mean the backing plate? any pics?
  16. im guessing you have bought mk4 golf brakes and carriers. try using your corrado carriers and the 288 calipers
  17. venom motorsport do the vents, eh voila! corrado vents don't know what the keyless entry systems are on the mercs, why not get some audi rear door handles fitted? i want them done when i get my car sprayed up. or be different and get some rear mk4 golf handles, always wondered how they would look. And of course a central locking alarm system so you don't need locks! Another mod people do is to use the mk4 golf washer jets as they sit underneath the bonnet, not sure on the legality of the side repeaters but i have seen quite a few corrado without them.
  18. Absolutely stunning rob, the colour is amazing and that r32! i keep meaning to give you a buzz when im down kettering way but never have time!
  19. looks like someones been having a bit of fun on photoshop. Taken from a friend of a friend on facebook. Absolutely love your car tho, i'll be perfectly honest, im still not sure on the boot but everything else is just stunning.
  20. just a theory off the top of my head - the 312's (which are the same caliper as the 288's) are from a mk4 golf which are a different offset disc to a corrado which requires spacers to clear the rear of the wheel. They 312's won't fit behind standard wheels therefore they must be 288's which would mean that the standard carriers mixed with the 312/288 calipers may have been used and the previous owner has been billed/conned by yet another rogue garage. A good example why i wouldn't let a mechanic within 5 miles of my car for 'repairs' (no offence to all you honest mechanics out their). I was feeling annoyed/lazy after a failed MOT after a failure on the main brake line running front to back, got quoted 6 hours work at over £200 not including parts!!! I mean seriously, what they hell are these people doing to take them 6 hours WITH ramps and all the tools. Took me an hour, taking my time doing the job properly with a jack and axle stands. I really have to stop ranting soo much!
  21. bloody hell, i need that vagcom lead now! Anyone in Hull area with vagcom?
  22. yea thats what i meant, i get confused with all these different types of hoses. How are the 288's dubstar, and how much has it cost you in total for everything?
  23. right so the passatt 288mm brakes are a straight fit and bigger pistons? would this mean that you can literally replace the calipers, carriers and discs as a straight swap without cocking about with the mk2-mk4 hoses?
  24. depends if its a vr6 or not. if vr6 yes most definately otherwise you will have to run it quite high, if its not then you can get away without rolling but it may rub if you want to run it low. For the best look and functionality i would say yes, my tyres suffered a bit of a beating on my old car when i was running borbet a's with unrolled arches
