REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
julesz replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
umm, am i missing something here but isnt the basic idea to get as much (cold) air in as possible? What is the purpose of the boost return hose in the first place. Surely its just venting the boost out the other end?? Am i right in thinking its just venting while not at full throttle when not as much boost is needed? In that case, whats the difference between the boost return and the ISV??? :? -
REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
julesz replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
What about using the 'filter inside a tube' system like the BMC one for the second intake? Could this be used to route a pipe round to somewhere with some air?? Just an idea.... I like the sound of this twin intake. -
From what i know, the roof mech is pretty good. If it opens and closes then i guess its good. Check for the roof splitting in the corner by the windscreen as it will leak loads. When i got mine, all the shocks were dead and the exhaust on the way out. Good things to buy are 1. Exhaust as they are only single pipe standard and the twin pipe aftermarket ones are far better. 2. Front/rear upper and lower strut braces work a treat as the cabrios twist around far more due to not having a roof. H plates are good. I think you get the G60 style arches after 1990?

Ive been looking for a filter with the filter inside the tube design. Anyone else have any views on these? What kind of element do the BMC's have and are they suitable for G60's, ie, not foam....
-
Cheers dubboy. Nice cab by the way. I had a black 1990 cab gti before the black 1992 G60. Very similar cars. Mine has the same interior and everything...

Well, i got some anti belt slip spray from a motor factors shop. It said it would squel loads until it had evened out, which it did, but now i get the squeal as before all the time and much louder. Any suggestions what to do with the little bugger? Ive heard WD40 on the belts can help?????

Anyone know how many G60's were sold in the UK???

Anyone got any ideas how a standard G60 performs against a standard Mk4 Golf 1.8T? A mate of mine has one and we seem to be almost identical. Just wondering if im slower than i should be...

8vg60/16vg60, what is the price of your induction kit? I already have carbon canister removed and im ready to bolt something on instead of the airbox...
-
yeah - absolute nightmare. I got the garage to do mine while it was in there and they came out with some lovely language to describe it!!
-
Mine is a August '92. Guess i need to keep the Cat. Flames sound cool though

G60 (removing carbon canister and pipework) advice needed
julesz replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah - whistling is ok really - bit of tube did the job. Just generally a bit noisy. Think thats due to taking of the nozzle at the front of the airbox though. Going to do the piping work soon and sort out all the filters and hopefully change the booming noise to more of an induction noise.. -
Yeah - definitely worse when damp. I guess they could be a bit loose and squeal when damp. Oil level is fine, no idea about pressure. Dont suppose anyone can explain how to check the tensioner wheels?? Am i likely to break anything, cos if its likely i will!!

Hmm, so id have to leave the reverse lights clear. Fair enough. Is it possible to get orange bulbs, and would that be orange enough do you reckon? LOWG, dont you have all red tail lights or just tinted?
