Replaced ny engine temp sensor in the hope it will lower my idle speed......still the bloody same :confused4:
-
1) where is the throttle stop?? is that the little kind of piston thing which the throttle rests on when its closed.....with a kind of piston/damper?? if so we adjusted that that a bit lower today which took the revs down very slightly. 2) going to have a check of all the vacuum hoses etc at the weekend etc cos been told this could be an issue 3)seems the ISV is fine so guess must be a problem with wiring/signal to ISV The joys of Corrado ownership eh??
-
Well changed the temp sensor last night and nothing changed :confused4: got it onto a computer this morning and its throwing up a few faults. ISV short to ground. engine speed sensor no signal. engine temp sensor short to ground looks like i have a few gremlins with my wiring :help:

Done, eventually

Who made the original equipment rear clusters?? Are they Hella ones? trying to find out if mines are original tinted or aftermarket

Yeah, went thru a load of the threads thrown up by the search.....but it throws up so many options :help: Was reading thru one of the threads thrown up by the search which has got me thinking it might be something to do with the blue temp sensor. Because its not idling rough like the usual thraeads but is idling high all the time. Just wanted folks opinions before I go out to buy one.....think there about £40 odd quid and I'm a tight Scots git

Any body with a bit more technical knowledge/experience conf if my theory is a load o bo***cks??
-
i had a problem similar to this. Rattled whenevr was closing the boot and it turned out to be the license plate plinth that was loose. maybe worth a look

Oops , sorry..... VR6

Not the usual idle prob question re the ISV. I have used the search and have a theory about what might be wrong but wanted somebody with a bit more technical know how to conf if i'm talking rubbish. A massive thanks to Easypops for letting me borrow his ISV on sat as have came to conclusion that my ISV is ok..... so if it isnt the ISV what can it be?????? my car idles ok hot or cold but constantly idles at around 1000rpm. Also i have problems starting the car whenever the engine is hot. Could my problem be the Blue temp thingy??? Am i right in thinking that if this is working ok then the engine will rev at about 1000rpm when cold then as it heats up will drop back to 750rpm?? Cheers for any input

Superb, will pm you later for details

Hi Guys, Looking for a favour from one of the lanarkshire/Glasgow boys. I think my ISV is dead and the car is idling like a pig. was wondering if somebody could let me borrow theres for 5 mins to see if this is the culrit before i splash the cash on a new one. Cheers Richi

My car has been idling a little bit on the lumpy side(hunting between 700-1050rpm) so stripped off the MAF,ISV and the dash pot and gave them a good clean. I noticed that the ISV wasnt actually plugged in . After cleaning and putting it all back together the lumpy idle is still there but when i plug the ISV in the revs shot up to about 2000rpm and stayed there. If i revved it the engine revs rose and then returned to 2000rpm. Is my ISV dead and is there any other way i can test it?? Cheers Richi

I am thinking about changing my suspension soon. I nearly chopped the Corrado in a few weeks ago after test driving a new Clio 200. I decided against taking finance but want my Corrado to handle a bit better. The car has about 125k miles and currently has a Bilstein suspension kit on it (not coilovers) which were on the car when i bought it. this kit was fitted about 5 years/30k miles ago. they seem in generally good condition and the MOT station mentioned nothing about them being an issue a couple of months ago. Not a question about coilovers etc at this stage as money's a bit tight....What I want to do is start replacing/renewing some of the other suspension components so when i change the struts etc i will get the full benefit. I'm a mechanical novice so what should i be looking to replace?? and roughly how much are the parts to buy Thanks for all info given Richi

yeah, only really notice it when getting in and out. Excuse the dumb dumb but question where is the tops mounts?? Top of the strut?? I'll lube them up just in case but think it may be the axle bushes as it seems a common problem but wasnt sure what the symptoms are. I'm away for a lads weekend in August and Its going into a local VW specialist. I'll add this to the list of things to look at.....Bugger :confused4:

Anybody?? thinking the rear axle bushes Cheers Richi

Whats the best MPG anyones had out of a Corrado?
bigrichi replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Jealous of some of the figures on here. The best i've ever seen was 33mpg from MAF whilst driving like a 60 year old. my regular drive usually only gets me about 250-260 miles to the tank which isnt great  -
Has been terribly hot past few days......black car doesnt help either. Sunroof hadnt been working so only windows down for fresh air....but......got sunroof switch fixed last night and now it feels like i have AC compared to before. I laccidently eft my lunch in my car the other day....a tesco cheese n pickle sandwich. What a bloody mess with melted chees everywhere. Still ate it tho....was kinda like a toastee :D
-
Last night really but fixed (kinda) the sunroof switch so I can get some more fresh air into the car  And on Tuesday i mended my cracked splitter and gave it a fresh lick of paint

Hi Folks, After posting in the Wanted forum for a new sunroof switch i decided last night to have a play about with the broken switch. I'm not e mechanic or anything so sorry if I dont use the correct terms but i'll try and explain as best i can what i have done and what is happening. When i opened the switch up there was 3 little metal plates which had became dislodged. there was one for slide open, slide closed and tilt. after putting them back in what i asume are the correct positions I plugged the switch back into the sunroof wiring and tried it. It now works....but not sure if its working correctly. when i press the tilt button, the sunroof tilts and to closed it i need to press the slide open button. when i press the slide open button the sunroof slides open (and with a very nice action thankfully :D ). when i press the slide close button nothing happens, but i can hear something clicking in the sunroof area. If the sunroof is slid open and i press the tilt button the sunroof will slide closed. Is my Sunroof bewitched??? Sorry for the long post but thought it best to describe it fully and hopefully the post will help with other folk....I know there is lots of posts regarding the dreaded sunroof Cheers Richi

Hi Folks, Looking for a bit of advice. Whenever i am getting in or out the C there is sometimes a loud noise....a kind of long squeek or creak. it really is starting to do my head in. seems to have got worse since the weather has got a bit better. I am thinking either a dry bush  or replacement bushes needed. The struts and springs etc arent too old, the standard stuff was replaced with a Bilstein kit approx 30k miles ago. Any ideas as i'd like to try and get it sorted whilst the weather is half decent and not too many jokes about being a Lard A**e  cheers Richi
