1. Same here. I think the 406 is a very pretty car. But I don't agree the Corrado is ugly. In fact the odd thing about earlier VW's is that I generally don't like their styling when they are new but they tend to age well and look better when they are old. Looks a great 406 though :)
2. Not sure if I can make this now. I'm working all day on Sat and need to speand a bit of time with the family the next day :(
3. Did you buy the yellow axle stands to match the nugget?
4. /checks calendar. discovers it's not 1st April. Is most confused
5. Can't comment on values over there. But a 4mo Corrado should be amazing. However... I suspect a haldex conversion will be tricky and expensive. Maybe consider an engine transplant and then sell the rest of the Bora to recoup some of the cost?
6. Seems like a good night. Is that Jar Jar Binks sitting next to your car? :D
7. Congrats. I love how my Golf feels so sure footed with 4wd. I can only imagine how great it must feel in a turbo'd Corrado. Enjoy :)
8. Really, really sad that you have to sell. I will pm you my opinion on price. A very sad day :(
9. Got it this morning at around 9 or 9:30. Not had it since but will keep an eye out for it.
10. I was hoping for someone more knowledgable than myself to respond. But as they haven't then I'll take a stab at it... I think fuse 16 is common between sunroof and spoiler. It's possible that poor movement of either the spoiler or the sunroof cas caused that motor to strain and blown the fuse. EDIT: That was taken from here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?22420-Spoiler-sunroof-fuse-blowing
11. Also the difference between the fuchs pro s and a midrange oil is 20 to 30 quid for a complete change if you get it on offer. I spend that every few weeks on replacing bits of plastic trim so happy to spend that to keep the engine well behaved.
12. Sorry to thread hijack but when I was looking last year a number of people recommended this: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68898-fuchs-titan-race-pro-s-10w-50-ester-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx Is there any advantage our disadvantage between this and the synta?
13. I tend to get let out of turnings more in the Corrado than the Golf. I think it's due to people noticing an unusual car more than anything else. I've not had anyone trying to race (although I've no doubt they would win) apart from one Polo GTI a while ago. I didn't bother responding as I don't race.
14. Log in to google (top right I think). Then Edit (top Letfish). Search for your postcode, then click on the save link... I think.
15. I can't remember exactly how the rear seats are screwed down but there are bound to be some sturdy screws holding them. I'd go for one of those if possible. You may even find that the screw holes are still there for the hump fitment. EDIT: I thought it was only 8v that didn't have a hump?
16. The previous owner of mine earthed the amp on one of the four screws holding the rear seat centre hump.
17. On Saturday I took the car back to the garage that fitted the cat. The exhaust tip has been hitting the rear bumper cut-out since they fitted it. They adjusted it again but it hasn't seemed to make much difference. To be fair to them it always did knock a little and I think things sit just slightly different with the cat back on (replacing the decat). They suggested that the only permanent solution might be to weld a new bracket in place. So today I had a go at a simpler solution using an exhaust strap and some zip ties from Halfords... it worked!!!!! To start with... When cold the car is lovely and quiet. No knocking. But when the exhaust is hot it starts knocking again. Looking theough some old threads on here I suspect it may be knocking on the axle or somewhere else. Damnit! At least I know that a simple bracket won't fix it. I guess I'll have to get under the car and see where else it's knocking. But having massively improved it when cold it gives me hope. I suspect though that I may need them to start welding bits on.
18. I hadn't appreciated until recently that there are different Karmann badges on the centre console. I saw it mentioned on here recently so did a bit of searching but not much came up. However I've found this picture (ignore the completely silver one as that's modified): http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5518204-Karmann-badge-on-center-console-in-chrome&p=74851990&viewfull=1#post74851990 I assume they changed depending on model years. Does anyone know what year was which? I'm guessing it maybe follows the G60 -> VR6 with red badges -> VR6 with silver badges trim? Also, I was thinking about this tonight and while it would be nice to have a Storm with Storm badges, I'm actually quite pleased that I've got a Karmann badge on there due to the Karmann heritage :)
19. I found this sitting on the table of a local indie VW garage today. I did smile quite a bit at seeing it. And then a Eurohoon including a Corrado: And finally an article on driving older cars. I didn't get pics of those pages unfortunately but here's a pic in case anyone recognises their own car:
