  1. Nice. My dad's best mate had one of those in exactly that colour. I considered buying it off him when I learned to drive but the insurance was too high.

    Test failed. Please try again.
  3. Or if you want to take out a mortgage and buy new: http://www.arz-tuning.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p633_Rear-Side-Window---Left-Side---Corrado.html
  4. Yes lots of changes due to it rolling during the elk test. The handling degraded after that as they added the spoiler, made various suspension changes and more importantly added electronic controls which numbed everything. They grip well but don't have the feel of the Corrado. But what really stands out about them is the styling. Granted they look a bit muted nowadays but they were very desirable at the time. EDIT: Actually, it couldn't have been the elk test as they already had them on the road and had to recall them. Must have been a few people crashing them.
  5. I owned a lovely Moro Blue TT back in 2003 and loved it. I sold it when I wasn't using it enough. When I bought my Corrado I was also looking at maybe getting a TT again but the Corrado won the day :D But whenever I look at them they seem a great buy as a future classic... They had iconic looks. Parts are much easier to get than a Corrado and I guess will continue to be that way in the future due to large sale volumes and platform sharing. They are a car that many people wanted when new but couldn't afford or wouldn't suit their circumstances due to limited space - this means that they may come back and scratch an itch at some point. People don't look at them anymore because they are cheap. So I suspect that they will shortly be entering the part of the market where many are being broken instead of repaired. Numbers will therefore start falling quite sharply soon. While people criticised their handling and for it being just a Golf in a frock I always found the grip tremendous and it has the benefit of a tunable turbo and Haldex. They may be a car to buy in a year or two and try to keep it in good condition. They may have a better chance of future appreciating value than the Corrado. Thoughts?
  6. Thanks. I will send payment in the morning and confirm when I have (currently on my phone). EDIT: Money now sent.
  7. I'm still planning to be there unless the weather is absolutely appalling. Can only stay for an hour though due to taking my daughter somewhere.

Something like a modified dock for a Samsung Galaxy Note (5.3" Android phone/tablet) would be good. Bluetooth music to your head unit, onboard satnav, Torque app for reading vag com codes and real time engine data from a bluetooth OBD2 adapter (if you're not on OBD1 obviously), hands free phone, onboard internet, etc. e.g. Modify this dock so that the Note sits permanently mounted in landscape mode where the cubby hole is by the gear stick. Or replace the ash tray and lighter with it as that's a wast of space really. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Vehicle-Dock-Galaxy-Note/dp/B005ZHD3FW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1335268129&sr=8-2
  9. I just found somewhere supplying a metal version: http://www.jtote.com/product_info.php/assenmacher-specialty-tools-1849-plug-boot-remover-for-volkswagen-spark-p-353192?currency=GBP&utm_campaign=product&utm_medium=free&utm_source=froogle_uk&osCsid=6o0g387fc0eit7voqinqpo2625 Ouch at the price though.
  10. Just a heads up. ade1882 is trying to contact you to discuss the car... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?68497-Looking-to-buy-a-storm&p=849205#post849205
  11. Can you get someone to run it for a while every couple of weeks? Ideally get it up to temp and roll it forward and back.
  12. Beautiful car. I'm a touch drunk now so getting a little sentimental. But I have wonderful memories of putting this into the cassette of my mk1 back in 1988. You can all laugh at my choice of music nowadays but this was good stuff 24 years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtKADQnjQmc Let the **** taking and the cheese commence :D

Watch out for that mid life crisis. Having been through one I can vouch for the fact that it can kick you right in the teeth when you don't expect it. Some of my worst decisions were made at the time :)
  14. ^^ When I was looking at Corrado's I was also being a little unfaithful and looking at cabs. I came to the conclusion that a Sportline would be an interesting one to get. I think they will be the cabs that rise in value in years to come. Maybe I'm just wanting to revisit my youth as my first ever car was a silver mk1 1.3 Driver. Great car. Between that, my Atlas grey mk2 16v and my silver blue mk2 Scirocco GTX I have some wonderful early driving memories. I used to simply go out for night time drives simply for the fun of it in those cars. That's something I haven't done for years, until I got the Corrado.
  15. Intgeresting info, thanks. I've always thought my wipers were the exception and they worked fine... until I got caught in a downpour at speed this weekend and they skipped and juddered across the screen. Time for Lupo's or TT's methinks.
  16. Welcome to the forum :D I was waiting for someone much more knowledgable than myself on engine swaps to come along. But seeing as no-one has replied yet I will add my opinion. The view seems to be that you should swap for an engine with the same number of cylinders. So a 4 pot swap to a 1.8T, or a VR6 swap to an 24v or R32. So if I were in your shoes and if I had the skills needed, then I'd be looking for a good VR6 shell but something with very high miles or a known engine issue. People on here are generally very friendly and helpful and the conversion has been done a few times so I'm sure you can get some advice. It might be better to add something in the engine forum as it's likely to get a better response.
  17. Thanks MoonlightVR and Fla. I really appreciate it. I'm still undecided. It's a good price and I reckon I would be able to install it with even my basic knowledge. But I'm just not sure whether I'd ever get the time to fix the stripped threads and fit it. It's also a 150 mile round trip if I collected. I'll have a final think overnight.

Yeah it's odd and a little unsettling. I sometimes think "Hmm what do they know that I don't. maybe I should sell too". I've started getting thoughts of R32's too. But I honestly don't know if I could sell now. I know I'd miss it too much. I enjoy simply owning it as much as I do driving it. It's a sad, sad day when I'm one of the "old gits" on here and I've not even been an owner for a year. Glad you got a sale but a shame you're leaving us for a bit (you'll be back!). Oh, and the 2000 users isn't accurate. The time out value on the site has been changed to several hours so each person still shows as online even if they logged off some time ago.
  19. Can your phone act as a WiFi hotspot?
  20. I bet these seats are comfy. Not only do they look gorgeous but you have the right colour car for them: http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=447586 They are for sale too ;)
  21. Ah ok, was hoping for a good leather one. Mine is quite good but I'm always on the lookout for slightly better condition ones. I'm still interested though as I could see if I can get it trimmed in leather and end up with a perfect one. If anyone else desperately wants it then let them have it. But if you get no takers then I'll offer £6 as a bit of a punt :) Sorry :(
  22. I'll take the VR6-DOHC cam cover please. I'll pm you for payment details. Is the handbrake handle leather or plastic? If leather then what condition is it in?
  23. Direct link for AA reports (searched for you as you're on you're phone): http://www.theaa.com/vehicle-inspections/index.html Direct dial phone number: 0800 056 8040 Lines are open Mon–Sun 8am–8pm Bear in mind the car will be about 17 years old so the report will almost certainly highlight some issues. It isn't like buying a 5 year old car. Still a very good idea though. EDIT: Do you have a laptop or a desktop with you? Couldn't you tether your PC to your phone and use that for browsing?
  24. Obsolete I believe. But Pat_McCrotch is selling a Chinese Jetta one. You might be able to get a fascia panel to reverse the front so it looks identical to a Cortrado OEM one. Pat works at a VW garage I believe so may be able to advise further. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?68645-Brand-new-Chinese-Jetta-heater-controls
