What did you use on the end of the drill to clean them up? All I can see is a big spinning disc :)

Do you mean this one? http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?68061-Mystic-Blue-VR6-for-4500-in-Slough There is a build thread here showing how much work has been done: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?50020-Mystic-Blue-Storm-MYLene-CAR-NOW-FOR-SALE-%A34300-%A33900/page7 I've not seen it but based on what's been done it looks a good car. It has had a respray and work on the engine block and head. It's a mystic blue Storm which is what you're looking for and the attention to detail looks high, which is always a good sign. It is mostly standard but has non-standard wheels (easily replaced with solitudes if necessary) and alcantara retrim of some of the interior plastic (which some may like, some may not like as it's non-standard, but personally I think is a real improvement and would love it in mine). It's not a million miles away from me (about 50 mins drive each way) so I could take a look although I'm not sure when. However I'm not that mechanically minded so would only be able to give an opinion on whether it looks good and whether the usual problems of sunroof, switches, heater, etc, seem ok. And all that stuff seems to have been sorted according to the build thread :) I wouldn't want to be held accountable if there was something major that I missed :) But happy to go and see it and give an opinion. The other problem with me seeing it is that I may be tempted to buy it as it does look good :D (joke!)

Has anyone posted anything to me in the last week?
Portent replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
Haha, I found out what this was when it arrived today. It's a credit note back from my local VW dealer. They did some work on my Golf which went wrong twice so they said they would refund me. But they sent the credit invoice without a stamp. Grrr. -
Lovely... http://www.4starclassics.com/vw-golf-gti-mk1-campaign-For-Sale/ It's a classic shape. Got to love a mk1.

Thanks for doing this. Got it now. I've screen printed it and uploaded the diagram here:

That's good news as something might be done about it then. Or it could be a stoken car.

Thinking of buy a Corrado! Have a few questions
Portent replied to p0l1wrath's topic in Newbies Hangout
You're welcome. If it's anywhere near Surrey I'm happy to take a look for you too. Also, the buyers guide is here: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/the_corrado_buying_guide_checklist.html -
I'd try something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Mk4-Golf-3Dr-Recaro-Leather-Seats-/190667249434?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c64a7571a Mk4 recaro. I have the heated leather non-recaro's in my 4mo and they are very comfy. It's like driving in an armchair;soft, padded but still supportive at the back. The recaro versions should be the same but also more supportive at the thigh and side areas. Not sure how well they fit in a Corrado though. Or, consider the mk1 TT front seats. They look quite similar to Corrado recaros but are also more padded. How about this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/audi-tt-mk1-half-leather-black-seats-interior-/190661765409?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c6453a921 Half leather so comfy cloth where it counts, heated (I think - the full leather ones are). Looks great on a Corrado. I loved my full leather TT's when I had the car. Maybe test drive a local TT and get a feel for the seats. Install guide here: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/tt_seats_fitting.html And some examples here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?53963-Proud-of-your-interior&p=701517&viewfull=1#post701517

See... you could sell the recaros in a heartbeat, install some regular seats and then find something like TT, S3 or mk4 Golf recaros for the front. They are all more padded and supportive than Corrado recaros. Or maybe some cloth mk2 recaros which will be more supportive too? Then raise the ride height up slightly so it's less stressful on the back when getting in and out. It will also offer a slightly less harsh ride which might be jarring your back.

438 mile road trip! Back in a Satin Silver VR6 - OEM & Recaro content...
Portent replied to G60MAT's topic in Members Gallery
Great news that you're keeping it. Did you just have a change of heart of have circumstances changed? It was getting a bit depressing seeing the flood of people selling. -
Looking great. Well at All Types you won't get to park on the Brooklands bank and take pictures (if it's dry).

VR6 HT Lead removal tool - metal one please if poss...
Portent replied to larceny fink's topic in Wanted
Weird you should suggest that. I was thinking the same at the weekend. I'm going to get a plastic one but by all accounts they don't last long so I was considering copying it using some tubing as you suggest. Works fine (better than original, I made the slots deeper so it's easier to hook onto the plug) and cheap as chips :) Do keep an HT lead handy so you can test-fit often and you'll be fine! Stone Sadly no longer available. I checked at the weekend. -
That's not good. Do you think a different seat might help?

Thinking of buy a Corrado! Have a few questions
Portent replied to p0l1wrath's topic in Newbies Hangout
Welcome. Yes all sunroofs should tilt and slide but they often break. It will be either the motor (simple to swap but I think new ones are obsolete so you would need to find a used one) or the mechanism has snapped (I think a fix kit is still available but the sunroof needs to be removed). Does it slide using the manual winder which is hidden under the switch trim in the roof? No just because the spoiler raises on the manual switch does not mean it will always work when driving. It probably will but it's not a guarantee as there is a speed sensor and control unit which elevate it at speed. Have you driven the car as it should raise at a little under 60 and fall again as you slow to a crawl. You can see it in the mirror. The electric mirrors could be the motors themselves but the most likely cause is the switch in the drivers door. It gets dirty inside over the years. Mine was the same but now works perfectly after I took it apart and cleaned it up inside. Look for rust as it is now getting common as they age. Also check the heater controls all work correctly (direction and fan speed). Any history of the heater matrix being replaced as they all do fail at some point so expect to need it doing if it hasn't. It is a cheap part but a big job to get at it. There is a buyers guide on here but unfortunately I'm on my phone so hard to find it and link to it. Maybe post up the advert for others to comment on. -
Looks lovely. But another vote for solitudes and definitely lose the aftermarket front grill badge. Personal view obviously.

Thanks for all the answers and links. It doesn't actually seem too bad to install. Will consider it. -

Thanks. Sorry a few more questions... Is this a right royal pain in the arse to fit (ie dashboard out)? Is the heater matrix in this kit different to the standard one? Any idea which bit was leaking and why didn't you just fix that rather than take it out completely? -

Does this require a different dash undertray to fit? Does it include everything to fit or what else is needed? -
Now yours?

Another one just popped up on this forum: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?68549-mystic-blue-VR6-for-%A33500-in-north-yorkshire&p=845021#post845021

If he doesn't have any info on the repair then ignore the car. I love the fact they are rare. You get people staring at it. I've even had someone get out of their car in a car park and knock on my window to talk to me. Unfortunately it's now getting quite hard to get parts for now. It's quite different to 5 years ago I gather. My usual VW garage conversation goes like this... Me: "Good morning, I'd like to buy a thingymajig for my 1994 Corr..." Them: "I'm sorry Sir that item is obsolete".
