Has anyone posted anything to me in the last week?
Portent replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
That makes sense. Thanks. I think I'll chance it. But for £1.36 (the £1 is the "handling charge" for their inconvenience!) they can damn well redeliver it to me :D -

It says it's a letter. So I'm worried it's a recorded delivery or something. They usually aren't good news :D I'd have to sign for it and then open it. -
Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
Portent replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
If you order within the UK then you can return them within 7 days under the distance selling act regulations. -
Will do thanks.

Thanks. Haven't received an email. But did get a pm (no attachement). Could you re-send to my email. Thanks.

Sad times :( Have a happier picture to remember it by instead (GTI INternational last year):

It's a tough one as without evidence I don't see what the police will do. On balance I probably wouldn't bother reporting it because one of the following will happen: 1) You report it. The police do nothing because there is no direct evidence - You gain nothing. 2) You report it. The police send him a letter or pay a visit. There is no evidence and nothing further happens - You gain nothing. 3) You report it. The police pay him a visit/letter. Nothing more happens because there is no evidence - He keys your car. 4) He mans up and pays for it - unlikely because he's already denied it and admitting it now will get him points on his license. I can't see the point in going through insurance because I guess your excess isnt far off the repair cost and your premiums would go up.

I had a card through the letter box today for an item that hadn't had the full postage paid on it. I'm not bothered about the extra cost (it's a trivial amount). But I don't think I'm expecting anything and I don't want to pay it and then find out it's a bad recorded delivery letter or something :) The only thing I can think of is that it's a bit of Corrado trim I've recently bought and forgotten about. But I'm sure I'm not expecting anything. It's doubly annoying as I was in at the time and they didn't ring the bell. Grrr!

I'm only around the corner from you (Claygate / Esher) Is the cat C a green one? I have a feeling that was up for sale last year. If you're keeping it then as long as it has been repaired properly then it shouldn't be an issue. The problem with a cat C is that it is harder to sell again. having said that I would probablyh avoid a cat C too. However it really depends when it was written off. For example a £23k car when new needs a lot of damage to write it off. But a £3k car nowadays can be written off with a small tap somewhere with superficial damage. It might be asking what the damage was and when it occurred (and ask if there is evidence of it). On balance probably worth avoiding but still worth a quick phone call.# You don't work in the power industry by any chance do you?

If any come up in the Surrey area or nearby then I'm happy to take a look. There are only about 3,000 cars left in the country now. Maybe around 1500 VR6 at most. many of those will be SORN. They aren't exactly a common car in any form. I'm actually thinking nowadays that the G60 might the be exclusive one due to them being the first model and rarely coming up for sale in decent condition. There can't be many left now. But if you're after a Storm then you're after a Storm :) Just try to avoid buying the first low mileage one that comes along unless the rest of the car reflects the mileage.

He had been trying to sell for some time and had absolutely no interest despite being advertised in multiple places. Yet it was arguably the best car out there for sale at the time and one of the best in the country. It was show condition and a credit to the effort he put into it. It finally sold a few days ago after the price was dropped several times to a price way below what it should have sold for. I saw the car several times and it really was special by the end. And very, very OEM because it was a regular entry to shows. Superb paintwork, rare cream recaro leather, and so much attention to every nut and bolt. It was slightly high mileage but the saying "buy on condition and not mileage" was made for this car.

Ouch. Lucky escape. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I keep it so that I can wipe my rear window :) I needed it on Wednesday for example. I coudn't see out the back because the rain was so hard. I also hate the look of a rubber bung in the hole. If I were to remove it then I'd have to get the hole smoothed over. But my rule is that I'm not going to do anything to the car that can't be esaily reversed (I appreciate you could always redrill the hole) though. So given a choice between a stock rear wiper and a rubber bung where there shouldnt be one then I prefer the wiper :)

This is why I don't understand why C5's Storm took so long to sell. There are buyers out there but for some reason they just looked past it. Very, very weird. As Jim mentions it was one of the best in the country. I think the mileage must have been a factor but when you look at what was done it really shouldn't be an issue. When I was looking for mine I did get a bit hung up on mileage I must admit. But having owned mine now, which certainly doesn't have low mileage, I'm cured and it isn't really a big factor for me now. Regardless of mileage the cars are old and parts degrade over time even with less than average use. I agree with what Jim has said; try to find a car in good condition, no major rust, and evidence that maintenance has been done along the way (not just routine oil changes but work on other parts too). A big folder of receipts is very desirable and check on here if anyone knows the car. But equally I wouldn't restrict yourself to just a Storm. If that's what you've set your heart on and no other car would satisfy you then by all means go ahead and get one. But I suggest still keeping an eye on the rest of the market as something great may turn up as you then have a wider choice of cars to look at. Good luck.

Welcome. Looks good and mileage isn't anything to worry about if it has been looked after. Bit of a git about the petrol tank but you'll soon forget it when you've got it running again. Lots of people on here are breaking cars so a new tank should be fairly easy to get.

Thanks that would be great. I'll drop you my email although it might be better to post it in here too so it's useful for others in the future.

Who the hell tried putting it on cows to find that out? I see they haven't listed bulls but I guess a ****ed off bull could be slightly more dangerous

That would be great mate. Thanks.

Thanks. That's £50 saved. I can't find anywhere that makes them to fit Corrado recaros. When I've got more money I might see if I can get some custom ones made somehow.

National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands

I only live 20 mins away but seeing as it's my wife's birthday I may just need a hotel too! -
I'd suggest trying clear silicone sealant to fix it more firmly. Unlike glue it will peel off without damage in the future and it will also come away before someone rips the grill out if they are really determined. But it should fix it in place firmly enough to prevent a casual thief pinching it. In fact I might do this to mine later.

Yes there is a difference early to late. You'll need a late wing.
