    How to join CCGB?

The CCGB is, in my opinion, worth every penny. Technically on this years membership, I made 20 quid back on reduced parts from my VW dealer shortly before I sold my Corrado, had an excellent day out at Woburn courtesy of the CCGB, went to a rolling road day at both Stealth Racing & AmD and have been to various other events and meetings. Not to mention the possibility of discounts from insurers (which I was offered whilst hunting for insurance on my Corrado) and I think your £15 is worth every penny. There are other benefits which I haven't mentioned, including things like the Sprinter, the Corrado Storm poster we got this year, and things like Chris Gaskells tech-know files. But I think I made my point. I am a total supporter and advocate of the club, and I think its going to have its best year in 2004, 'under new management!' :)
  2. Looks very nice indeed mate.. have to ask though.. has the charger ever been rebuilt? Couldn't see a Jabba or similar sticker floating around in the engine bay shot....
  3. A friend of mine made record time from Coventry to London once in his VR6, nailing it pretty much the whole way at over 120MPH, and up to an indicated 150MPH on and off throughout the drive. This was a few years ago, and at like 2am though.. I think it took him something stupid like 45 minutes! The VR can certainly do some impressive speeds.. I could never see myself driving at that kind of pace though!
  4. I know my 2.0 16v felt quick, but not "0-60 in 7 seconds" quick. The standard wheels for the Corrado are 15" though so VW's figures would be correct for that size of wheel.
  5. I guess it depends on your dealer too.. back when I had my Corrado, my dealership was happy to offer me discounts (not sure if it was parts club, but it was good enough) on some of the lasts parts I bought before I sold my car. I basically said I had heard some dealerships offered parts club discount for members of the Corrado Owners Club, and he said "Ok - well next time you come back we'll sort something out.." - so when I went back, he knocked me about £20 off a VW backbox as my other one rusted off! So that covered my membership for a year and I was pretty happy :)
  6. I wouldn't let it bother you Roddy.. judging by some of the stories I have read both on here and on other forums lately, it could be a LOT worse. That said there is no excuse for it. Thieving b*stids! :(
  7. Just removed a weird double post there Roddy.. dunno what happened! :)
  8. Ditto.. thats how I have always hooked up my car stereos (about the only car stereo related task I know how to do!) and everything works fine? As you say Brian, thats what its there for! :)
  9. Ice Grey Violet is rapidly becoming one of my very favourite colours. Its an awesome colour, and looks perfect on the Corrado VR6.
  10. Looked on Autotrader - a very late 1995/M mint condition M5 would only set you back around £10,000 - which isn't bad considering what you are getting for your money. I think insurance would be a problem though!! Wonder what build / reliability / cost of parts is like on these now they are getting on a bit?
  11. LOL - they'll be doing the article on the 22nd on Nick Micouris's SCIROCCO then!! :D
  12. All of those beamers were amazing for different reasons.. The new CSL just looked spectacular, sounded amazing, and went like the clappers.. but the old Batmobile looked ace and i'd quite happily own one of those :) Rather liked the old style M5 as well.. looked a bit of a barge, so I was stunned when they said it had a sub-6 second 0-60!! Monster monster! :D That Z4 is a load of cack though quite honestly.. i'd rather of had the old M5 than that any day of the week.
  13. Not entirely true.. I remeber Stroeve Motorsport used to sell them when I used to own my 2.0 16v, as I considered buying one. Someone with a little more information might be able to help you out, but there was definately a UK reseller for them who used to advertise in PVW and they cost about £120 if I remeber correctly. I'll dig through my back issues tomorrow morning if no one has any more information by then :)
  14. Well they aint the worst 3 spokes I have ever seen. I'd much rather have the Estorils on that, but I could live with those wheels. However.. Ergh.. the dreaded TSW 3 Spokers.. no offence if any of you have them on cars that you own, but they really are not my cup of tea!!
  15. Consider this thread stickied Supercharged... proper bo ;)
  16. You'll have to get used to it Sanjay.. the price you pay for driving a group 15 or so car at 21. I had to pay about 1,700 TPFT for my first years insurance.. just grin and bear it as it does fall noticably after this. May sound laughable, but try Direct Line - I couldn't find anyone cheaper to insure me on my Corrado 16v for two years on the trot! :)
  17. Theres not really a great deal you can do about it Chris.. it just wont let you format text with loads of spaces which is a real pain in the bottom, but common across practically every type of forum :( What I have done as you can see below is pasted the times into a text editor, tidied em up, and took a screen snap of em - so click below to see the times in all their formatted glory!! :D
  18. No mention of service history though..

    It Makes me MAD

Theres at least one chap on the Isle Of Wight here.. i'm sure he doesn't want his island overrun with scumbags and n'er-do-wells.

    It Makes me MAD

A mate of mine had a similar story quite recently. Sitting in his house watching TV and hears the 'Dual Zone' on his Clifford alarm chirp once, then twice. So he opens the door to see some guy peering into the window of his car. The guy is obviously a bit drunk.. my mate says to him "Oi.. what the **** are you doin?" - the guy replies "None of your business" or words to that effect. So my mate walks towards him and the drunk guy punches my mate - my mate, being quite a hefty git returns the favour with a bit more power behind it, and puts him on the floor. The guy gets up calling my mate all kinds of names, and saunters off down the street threatening to come back later, which he didn't do. Some people eh?
  21. I believe that standard 2.0 16v power curve was mine.. 143.9BHP was what I got at the Stealth Racing RR day last year.. and I remeber you chatting to me about what figures I got David :D
  22. Agreed Kev.. its the only possible explanation for the mountain of problems on these cars.. Definately love / hate relationship :)

    It Makes me MAD

Well amazingly I never had anything done to my Corrado in the time I had it.. well, apart from a small two inch graze on my rear bumper after some clown had backed into it or something. Saxo was a different story - broken into two weeks after buying it and a scratch down the passenger side which thankfully was mostly polished out. But I have been lucky - we once had two cars of yobs go up our street putting car windows through / smashing off wing mirrors and I just expected mine to get done.. luckily it didn't, but they did smash the window of a car belonging to an old disabled man across the street which just made my blood boil. Scumbags.

    It Makes me MAD

I don't know what it is, or where the mentality has come from that has given people the idea that its ok to key peoples pride & joy, or kick in light clusters or actually break into cars. Where the hell are all these pikey scumbags? Where do they all hide? You have my sympathy mate.. you can't own anything in this world any more without some lowlife deciding that they either want a piece of it, or that its their right to damage something that you have worked for & earned. The police need to be spending more time catching these turds, and not trying to trap us honest motorists with sodding speed cameras & mobile speed 'safety' vans. Sigh.
